Yrael: *considers the question, idly cleaning his fur* Don't go into the conversation with the obvious intention to ask. Be casual, but not overly familiar. Faintly curious, but not pushy or nosy. Have a sense of humor. Discuss light topics, but eventually seek to find a shared interest, hobby, topic of study, or life experience. Some times, simple physical attraction can suffice. Continue in this vein until the connection between you seems secure, or at least noticeable to both of you.

Then, after both parties are invested in the conversation, remember suddenly that you have a prior obligation you need to attend to at the moment - but show your interest in continuing the discussion at a later time. Say that you want to know his opinion on some facet of the topic not yet discussed, possibly over a shared meal or drink at some time in the near future. If the connection between you is in nature more physical than intellectual, indicate it with body language rather than your words. *cleans his ears*

Then, suggest a time and a place, leaving it to him to accept, alter and then accept, or outright dismiss the terms of the date. If you have played your part well, he will accept. Smile and indicate that you are looking forward to it, as though it will be an event of importance to you. Doing so makes him feel special, and will make him look forward to the date with the same anticipation.
