Well, he wasn't expecting that.

"I'm very pleased to meet you. I didn't even know that the moon had a monarch." A pause. "What is Equestria?"

He's wondering if it's a country or a dimension, though he's not sure if the question would make any sense to the Monarch of the Moon.

"Why, the kingdom of the ponies, of course," says Luna, taken aback.

"Ah. I don't think I've ever...been there. Maybe Equestria's far from where I live? Because my home has--kind of a lot of hoofless beasts."

Also mermen, vampires, Boggles, mad scientist mummies, nepenthe spiders and the werewolf Mafia. Pretty ponies are not exactly the norm.

That also makes her the first nonhuman he's ever met who doesn't know something--and doesn't fear--his father's species. The Auphe.

Damn. And he grins.

"What kind of...beings...live in Equestria? Is it just ponies, or are there other kinds of people there?"

Obviously not human people, or even human-looking ones. But maybe every animal species in Equestria talks, and the ponies are just the ones in charge.

Besides, he's curious now.
