"Trixie is just the right size for a pony," Trixie says, narrowing her eyes, "and hardly needs to go telling everyone what size they should be."

Pony. Well, that explained the smaller size, at least. "I didn't know you were a pony instead of a horse." But he wasn't going to apologise just yet. He was still confused. Once he had things straightened out in his mind, then the apologies might come.

No problem, Trixie has no trouble taking all the apologies. "Well of course you couldn't know better. You see, Trixie knows nothing about whatever you are, but she certainly is not about to pretend to know before she has learned. That would just be ignorant."

Trixie may never learn shame.

[lunarwolf]

"I'm a warrior of Animaria." And here, now, that seemed to apply. "The Animal Spirits speak to us, and I thought-" until a few details had actually sunk in "-that you were one of them."

Trixie nods, still punch-drunk on exhaustion and praise. "Well, Animarian, Trixie is a well-travelled and wise unicorn pony from Equestria. She has already given her name."

[lunarwolf]

"I am Merrick Baliton, Chosen of the Predator Spirits, Lunar Wolf Ranger, and protector of Princess Shayla." She wanted to talk accolades? He could list accolades.

[fantastictrix]

More like she wants to list her accolades and you have ears.

"There are wolves on the moon? Are Animarians from the moon?" How she figured that one we'll never know, besides that he's so pale by pony standards.

[lunarwolf]

"Wolves howl at the moon to call its blessings. My powers are linked to it. But I do know of people who have gone to the moon to save the world." Saving the world. It was almost a hobby at this point.

[fantastictrix]

Trixie thinks about this.

"Were they lost?"

[lunarwolf]

"No - they returned safely." All of the red Rangers. Cole had told them about it all.

[fantastictrix]

"Next time, Trixie would be happy to offer her advice."

[lunarwolf]

"With any luck, there won't be a next time. Serpentera was destroyed and the Machine Empire was finally defeated." But then he remembered one thing he'd heard tangentially--

"But there were horses on the moon."

[fantastictrix]

Most of that Trixie did not understand, so it did not lodge itself between her ears.

"An alicorn," Trixie corrects gently. "Perhaps she was seen many times? She was there for a thousand years, they say."

[lunarwolf]

"Cole said there were two horses. That the Machine Empire leaders were riding them. I'm... not sure what, exactly, an alicorn is."

But if this alicorn was there for a thousand years--

"The alicorn you're talking about must have been sent there while I was entombed."

[fantastictrix]

"A tall and regal pony with the wings of a pegasus, the horn of a unicorn, and great magical power," says Trixie. They're the princesses! Everyone loves them! Even her. "They would never let machines ride them."

She tips her head, which knocks her hat sideways a little, to look at him. "Why were you in a tomb?"

She's beginning to think Animarians have a very poor sense of direction.

"I was, at the time, corrupted by an evil spirit." But alicorns...

Just when he thought horses couldn't get any stranger.

[fantastictrix]

"Evil spirit?" Surprise shakes off some of Trixie's exhaustion, and she backpedals with her front hooves. "How do you know it's gone?"

[lunarwolf]

"He was destroyed."

And rose again. And had accompanied him in walking the world for many, many years. But now wasn't the time to bring that up.

"Vanquished?"

If she had her hat off he could see the perk in her ears. This sounds like A Great Story! now how does she one-up it?

[lunarwolf]

"Twice," he agreed. Of course, that was without mentioning the second time. "We were never sure how he was able to reincarnate."

[fantastictrix]

"That doesn't sound very destroyed to Trixie."

[lunarwolf]

"It would be... truer to say that the evil in him was destroyed." But there was something else on his mind. Mostly the question - "Why do you always refer to yourself by your name?"

[fantastictrix]

"Because I am the Super and Quite Talented Trixie!" She looks disappointed. There were no trumpets. "It is hardly Trixie's fault that you have not heard of her."

[lunarwolf]

But to him, it didn't sound so awesome. "It sounds like you're talking about someone else instead of yourself."

[fantastictrix]

"But you haven't met any other ponies at all. How could you confuse Trixie with anyone else?" Trixie flicks her tail dismissively.
