Dinah has enough self control in these things not to look anything but mildly interested.

As she tries not to laugh.

"And this creepy space rock showed up there?"

"Yeah. Apparently. I haven't seen any yet--though there's been enough corn to last me a few centuries."

Lois sounds so incredibly grumpy.

"Well, that's Kansas?" Dinah offers. "I'm based in Gotham myself so I don't know."

[presspasskey]

Lois stares.

"Wait. Last I heard there were different universes here. You are not telling me there are aliens in my universe."

No. Really. She hadn't been taking any of this seriously.

[raptorcanaria]

"...no?" Dinah hazards. "Unless corn means aliens? Which I don't think it does?"

[presspasskey]

"Well, unless there's a Gotham everywhere, but I hadn't heard about one yet."

Assuming Lois has asked a few people.

[raptorcanaria]

"It's not in every universe," Dinah admits. "But I know it's not a single universe only deal."

That would be ridiculous.

[presspasskey]

"It'd better not be," Lois mutters. "Corn and crazy people is about my limit, I think."

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah grins. "Hey, don't knock aliens. Those are some of my best friends, remember?"

[presspasskey]

"So long as you're the one dealing with them, I'm not knocking them." She scowls. "Just like I said, corn and crazy people."

[raptorcanaria]

"Now, by crazy people," Dinah starts, "I take it we're not talking Arkham crazy?"

[presspasskey]

Shuddering, "Thank god, no. I've heard stories."

Then she grins, just a little. "No, actually. Mostly it's been megalomaniacal tycoons and amnesiac naked boys. Well, and his cool mom, but she's not crazy."

[raptorcanaria]

"Megalomaniacal tycoons are a fact of life in all universes," Dinah offers. "As inevitable as billionaire playboys."

[presspasskey]

"Those are a little out of my experience, and probably will be," Lois says with unknowing cosmic irony. "Though I've heard the younger Luthor's had a past with women, but that's probably tabloid crap."

[raptorcanaria]

"Lex Luthor?"

Just to establish that they're talking about the same one.

[presspasskey]

"Yeah, him. His father Lionel's the megalomaniac I mentioned. Jackass," she adds under her breath.

[raptorcanaria]

"I don't know him very well," Dinah admits. "He's as bad as all that?"

[presspasskey]

"Lionel Luthor?" There is hatred in Lois' voice. "He had Chloe killed."

She pauses. "Well. At least I think so. Smallville seems to think-- anyway. I'm going to prove he did it."

[raptorcanaria]

"Your cousin?"

Dinah pays attention! And she also sits more upright.

"Can you promise you'll be careful?"

She doesn't know Clark that well, yet, but she knows how he feels about Lex Luthor, and if his father, even if his alternate universe father, is anything like him, then this might be very dangerous indeed.

[presspasskey]

"Yeah."

Lois' eyes glint. "Careful? Her testimony was the key to Lionel's trial coming up.

"He got her killed from prison." Snorting a little, she shakes her head. "I've got to get the truth to someone. Otherwise there won't be anyone to get her justice."

After a pause, she adds, "And crazy farm boys don't count either."

[raptorcanaria]

"That's a no, then."

Dinah doesn't pass judgment on it, she just wants to know they're on the same page.

"Listen, you're going after a murderer. I'm not saying 'don't', I'mm just saying 'is there room for a martial artist tagalong in your plan?'"

Lois blinks at her, and then grins. "Well, we already had a run-in with an army chopper, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

"Still." Her expression is almost mischievous. "I'll let you know if it looks like I might want to borrow you or your friends. Like I said, Clark doesn't actually count."

Smallville.
Luthor.
Clark.

Dinah is really trying not to give the game away now.

"If you can get back here on time," she says. But she understands, really.

Lois laughs a little at that. "Okay, sure, I guess opening every door I come across until this place shows up might be a waste of time."

Even if, in the right mood, she totally would.
