From Amanda:

I'd love to have people tell the stories of what they've seen happen in bar when a character has gone into an alternate universe where or when a) they were dead (and what happened or didn't happen, how they had ways to stop it or didn't etc) or b) when there are a version of themselves, also, existing in that world (and what happened or didn't happen, how they had ways to stop it or didn't etc).

I'm curious about all the things both ways that have gone on before.

The things I was imaging for Amuscut during the Allpocalypse were sort of AUish, but were more about her messing around with her own timeline, so that probably doesn't count.

I think I have speculated in a previous DE about a world without Amascut and came to the conclusion there were several ways that humanity would be screwed over on her world by more magically talented races. Someday I might flesh that out.

True, not the same thing, but still fun. It is amazing how much can be mucked with timeline wise. The Sparklepire contingent had an amazing time playing with that from Milliways to centuries before most of them had been born.

Ray has done this kind of thing a lot, but I defer to Cam on that.
As for any of mine... probably not exactly what you mean, but Mark Cohen spent a week dead for tax purposes because he talked to Wish about giving Angel a chance to see how things were going at home. Angel was all 'thank you but NEVER DO THAT AGAIN YOU IDIOT.'

Ooh, this is a fun topic!

I've never played around with the alternate-universe aspect, but it was an unholy amount of fun to have Ben Wade help Dan Evans attend his own funeral in the 3:10 'verse.

--and as far as alternate universes go, I don't think I'll be tossing her headlong into the AU in question, but I'm still sorely tempted to chuck Peteless!Claudia from this past Christmas special in, for April Fools'.

I can't find the OOM right now (whyyyy?), but a long, long time ago, Yrael accompanied Rachel Grey to an AU Xmen-verse where mutants ruled the world and kept humans as slaves. Yrael and Rachel were the lead singer and bass guitarist(iirc?) of a government-funded band whose music stole all emotion and will from the subjugated humans, to help keep them from staging an uprising.

Until Rachel and Yrael changed things. ^_^

Ah ha. Oh my. Ako's not a main character. Her being there or not doesn't change much at all. Still...

For over a year now I've been stalling because of time travel and shenanigans in canon.

Once Ako goes back to Mahora there will be two days of festival activities.

And then there will be a week where the world changes.
The manga doesn't show that week. Not closely. The main characters are in a timewarp and then rushing to put things right.

But Ako isn't a main character. She's going to see it all.

When you add in her talks with Karkat about time travel and predestination and what Ako thinks actually makes her Ako (You can only be shapeshifted and body swapped so much before you're pretty sure it isn't anything to do with DNA or how you look in the mirror).

Well. It's going to be a bumpy ride I want to get right.

I am also a terrible slacker.

Like [personal profile] minkhollow says, I mostly did this with Ray, and at first it was just to play with continuities. Ray is from a Ghostbusters comic book miniseries from 2003, which was set in 2003- but everything in the movie happened in 2003ish rather than 1984ish. I've thrown Ray into the movieverse proper, into the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, into an AU where the Men in Black organization existed and basically swooped down on him about a day and a half after his parents died, into another AU where Columbia never cut the guys' funding so they never formed the Ghostbusters but the Shandor Building was busily summoning Gozer anyway... possibly one or two others, too, but I don't entirely recall just at the moment. One constant was that Ray could not be present in the same universe as one of his alternates at the same time, or one or the other of them would be punted out to Milliways.

Have you thought of playing with the IDW crossover Infestation? You could mix TMNT, Transformers and Ghostbusters if you wanted. = ]

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about. Wait, TMNT doesn't seem to be part of it. I could have sworn I say a comic of it though.

Oh wait Part 2: I did. The first links I sent you were for the first series...with zombies. The second Infestation series is with tentacles and does involve the turtles.

I've done this in bar..sort of.

Val von Doom met Valeria Richards in bar through notes and they decided to see each other as sisters. If I decide to officially app Val Richards this will likely continue.

616 Ben Grimm and Ult. Ben Grimm have yet to officially meet each other but they know of each other through other patrons. 616 Ben isn't too freaked by it but Ult. Ben was pretty upset that the monster-ness happened somewhere else also.

Wait, I did have a fun OOM I never really wrote wherein Val von Doom ended up in an AU where Doom made peace with the F4 and asked them to help him free his mother from Hell. Reed agreed and helped Doom build a machine to open a portal. All would have worked except for the Wizard attacking and damaging the machine's fail safes and Hell came to Earth.

The F4 died as did most of the Earth's heroes, the Wizard spun things that he had saved the day and had Franklin under his sway, using his reality warping powers to keep Hell contained. Doom it turned out hadn't died but instead was leading an underground resistance movement. Val ultimately was able to free Franklin but Doom seemingly died.

From roughly 1982 to 1996 there were no confirmed sightings of Victor von Doom, Ph. D. What, at the time, thought to be sighting has since all been found to be DoomBots.

I've never had the boys run into other versions of themselves, but if I did it'd probably end up looking a whole lot like this

I'll probably never get up the courage to do it, but I'd love to someday throw Rue into an AU where she (either alone or with Thresh, capitalizing on the "two winners if they're from the same District" rule change) won the Hunger Games instead of Katniss.

I haven't done anything like that with this Jack (yet) but with the last one there were a couple times. One where a pre-season-1-AU-after-entry-to-the-bar Jack came in which was really interesting to do, as Jack is so different before the series.

The other was an AU that Tony Almeida got stuck in, where I got to write an Evil!Jack, or rather a Jack who was a "snake in a suit", one of those psychopaths that does very well in business because of their lack of any kind fo empathy.

That one was kind of scary but also really, really fun to play. :D

When Eric was doing a really interesting plot of Atton going to mirror worlds through the Labyrinth, he went into an AU Nottingham where Will worked for the Sheriff. That was fun and incredibly depressing to write.

Otherwise I've only written AUs but never played them out with my characters. There are so many possibilities of what can go wrong if Marian tries stepping through Will's door.

Wow, bringing back memories of otherways!

Though that was a separate thing entirely, so no crossovers there, really.

One time, Riley went to the Smallville world with Chloe and apparently they discovered that there's an AU version of himself who married his high school sweetheart and had a kid??

The question marks are because I COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT THAT EVER HAPPENED until reading this DE.

Back when I was playing Kitt, he got to go to Ray's universe where the local version of him had gone haywire and the local Michael Knight (Michelle Knight) had fought in the Gulf War driving tanks and Karr was the successful Knight AI. Convincing them that he really wasn't the Kitt they were looking for took effort.

Oh God, I can picture about a thousand different variances for her: one where Clem stays married to Steed and they have a horrible mutually abusive relationship; one where she ends up with Garcia; one where she's a schoolmarm; One where she's an ACTUALLY very competent cop...

I sort of want to play out a world where Brisco meets a severely strict schoolmarm!Dixie.

Juliet as an evil criminal mastermind maybe?
