My biggest struggle with Eddie is that he's not an asshole with a heart of gold. He's an asshole without a heart of any metal whatsoever.

(Well...maybe a teeny, tiny little lump of coal heart. But he has very dangerous ways of expressing what little affection he has for anybody.)
