Haymitch looks, but rather fails to look impressed. They don't bother to teach much science or advanced history to kids from Twelve - he knows that once upon a time, before Panem, the country that stood there sent a few men to the moon, a few satellites up amongst the stars... but it all seems so much less important than other, more immediate concerns these days. So he really doesn't much know what a supernova is, or really much care. A supernova would actually sound like a pretty good idea to him.
