Happy Hour is go

And Happy Hour is on until 4pm PST in the US or for the next 4.5 hours. Why so long? Because I can and may disappear with work.

ETA: And Happy Hour is closed. Still if you really wanted a Ben thread, I'm generally a push over so if you don't mind slowtimes, feel free.

Darn. Wanted Knox, that Gotham Mets fan extraordinaire (and my echo), to tag. But I understand.

BTW, is it canon that Ben's a Mets fan now? PAD wrote him as a Yankees fan in both his FF novel and a guest shot in X-Factor. Are they being confused again? (PAD can't even keep Strong Guy's allegiance straight - in the first Madrox miniseries, Guido was a Yankees fan, but in the aforementioned story with Ben, he was a Mets fan.)

It's so strange, but it really is a telling detail whether a fictional character is a Mets or Yankees fan, isn't it? At least for New Yorkers it is.

Very much so. It sort of shows that for all the New Yorkiness of the Marvel comics, there aren't many writers who really get NYC. This was one of the problems I had with Avengers, as well. The scene was New York, but the story could have been anywhere. (Joss should stick with LA.)

PAD, though, is one of us New Yorkers, but I think he changes allegiances just for the sake of a punchline.

I could also pitch it that it's the cost of a lost bet with Johnny.

See my comment below for my original reasoning and feel free to throw Knox in if you want. I'll be tagging tomorrow.

I am getting my facts from here so it's not really canon. Joey Q does say Yankees but a fan quotes an early issue of F4 saying he's a Mets fan. I just went for Met to be interesting as from the West Coast and not being a baseball fan, I could only think of the Yankees as the NY team.

For what it's worth, I grew up in a Yankee fan family. Aunt Marian eventually went Mets and we do not speak of the uncle who became a BOSTON fan *hsssss*.

When I mentioned this to a friend at college- a Cleveland native and an Indians fan- he told me rooting for the Yankees was like rooting for Goliath.

See this supports a fan's opinion (from that thread) that Ben supports whatever New York team happens to be the underdog of the season. Which I can get behind since football is really his sport. Jets all the way, baby!
