Milliversary? Oh myyy...
Eight freaking years, people.
Eight years ago today, a snarky, bitter not'cat found his way into a tavern beyond the reaches of his world, finding friends and a home he could love.
And I have found a multitude of people I call friends, with whom to share in-jokes about curry, giant squid, and demon rabbits, and always share an awesome time. We've told stories together for ages, now. When I came across this fledgling community in the summer of 2004, I was seventeen, and had never RPed in my life. I had a livejournal of my own, yeah, but I had never seen the journal platform used in such a way. It was fascinating to me.
So for two weeks, I watched, flailed, and compulsively hit F5 as I followed the bar, until I was able to gather up the bravery to bring in someone. I chose a snarky, white cat whose story I felt never really had justice done to it by canon. And I've never looked back. There have been other characters who have come and gone, of course: Jane Drew, the Black Rider, Westerly... and now Sunshine and Zelgadiss who are clearly here to stay, so long as they can hold their own against the not'cat who knows himself to have claimed this headspace first, and doesn't want to give it up.
Milliways has helped sustain me (and, let's be honest, distract me) through four years of college, two years of graduate school, and two years of professional life. I can't imagine my life without it, or without you all. You all make this place the brilliant bastion of storytelling that it is.
