At the moment, I'm waiting to hear from a moving company about another moving company to see when I can put my stuff into a storage unit and also from a job later this week.
It got me up earlier than I expected and as I knew already, I'm not good at waiting. Waiting with a time limit, yes, but waiting without a lot of information, not so much.
How are your pups at being patient about things that aren't in their control?

I repeat, not good.
When Gene feels things are out of his control, he tends to lash out in a misguided attempted to regain it. This generally means violence, usually against people in custody. Through both of his canons, he has put people in hospital (had to be stopped by Sam in case he actually killed someone, once) , beat up witnesses already injured to get the truth out of them (vindicated in that case, as the bloke was guilty as sin), and threatened what's close to torture to get people to talk. The stapler to the head made me laugh; the handcuffed bloke to the chair, not so much.
Or he drinks. If things are bad, and there's no one to hit, he gets drunk and maudlin. One time he did that, and ended up getting banged up for murder. He does stupid shit when he's that drunk, like going to an enemy's house and breaking their windows, then threatening them with a gun. So, y'know...not the best at impulse control, Gene.
Oh, and one time he lashed out and told Alex he would kill her because he couldn't handle something she told him - and promptly shot her the next day. That didn't go too well for him either. And some point, he should really work on reigning himself in, but I don't see that happening for a while.

Belar may be the most immature of his world's Gods, but he's still a God who's willing to wait for centuries or milennia for a prophetic event to happen because it has to happen at exactly the right time for the world not to explode.
Adrian... does not like when things are out of his hands, but he's a military man, a hunter, and a trained sniper. The first means that there is going to be a lot that is not in his control and he is going to have to wait for his orders. The second means that he's spent a lot of time sitting in trees waiting for a deer to wander past his stand- more, for exactly the right deer to wander past his stand, because there's no point to shooting an animal without enough meat on its bones or spokes on its antlers. And the third- he maxed out his scores at the Marine Corps Scout Sniper training program, which you can't do if you're not reasonably patient and sober about your job, since they won't even let you in to begin with. Combine that with being trained to wait until the moment is perfect to take your shot (the slogan of the Scout Snipers is 'one shot, one kill'), and it all adds up.
As for Ellen, well, Vault 101 kind of breeds the idea that a lot of your life is out of your control and there's nothing you can do about that, so deal with it. Hell, even her original job was entirely determined by her test scores on an aptitude exam whether she liked it or not. She's happier now that things are far more open, but she understands that there are times when there is nothing you can do but wait for your time to move.

But the rest? What an impatient, anxious bunch they are. Knox is a reporter who lives his life on deadline (and that's about to get worse as I've decided it's time his newspaper start its first online presence). Cy is a teenager. Howard is an inventor in wartime, so everything is rush, rush anyway.
And Kirk...you would think that by now he would let go just a little.
Nope. He always has a plan, and it usually involved forcing things along. If he looks like he's being calm, it's just part of the plan. He is ALWAYS in control in his mind. That's why his death is so unsatisfying. He was forced to be out of character to put him and Picard on even footing.

I look forward to seeing how things go with Knox.

Then she actually added up how long she's been stuck.
I, um, better see about getting her out before she gets solidly stir crazy.

Val, who is here for one last month, doesn't do well unless it's an experiment she is running. If it's not she will pace or be hyperactive, wanting to control things even if she's not.
Palamedes has a lot of patience. Comes form being immortal I think. Unless lives are on the line.
Hank enjoys waiting as it give him extra time to work on things in his head, maths or sciences.
Beast Boy is very bad at waiting and you don't want to be around him when he is. He will annoy or bother anyone.
Thalia simmers when she has to wait. Getting crankier and crankier until something distracts her (not to hard since she's ADHD) or she explodes.
Kate has a lot of patience...no really. Unless you happen to be family or someone she loves and she doesn't approve of your life choices.

William's the same as Thalia, without the ADHD but the same intenseness, he can wait but in his movie, he goes twice because he's just not going to wait.

Tavi actually can be patient. Sometimes. Usually this is when he has an idea of when he will be back in control of the situation, or even that his period of waiting was part of The Plan (that couldn't be escaped, so why waste energy--it takes years for him to understand this, mostly thanks to Kitai). On the other hand, other times he just starts compulsively worrying. And then family and friends make fun of him.
Lois: ahahaha. Yeah, she just jumps right in. Oddly enough, though, with people she can be patient--she'll put up with a lot of crap (see her family) and can wait for people she cares about to confide in her on their own terms. She's reckless and impulsive, lives for being on the wire (thus journalism, eventually!) and usually tactless. She can be strangely understanding. It's a different kind of patience.

Antinoos, on the other hand, is impatient. He's young, he's a bit spoiled and used to letting out any frustration or boredom at once, and it shows in not entirely pleasant ways. The same is true for Lorenzo. Sirona, Margolotta and Tower, being who they are, have a very different relationship with time where impatience doesn't even enter into it. They have all the time in the world, and grab it when it's right. Sirona especially can move through time much in the way that other people move through space, to judge from her canon. Tamara, on the other hand, lives too much in the present to be patient at all.

Brisco's more likely to go out and do something productive to take his mind off the thing he can't do anything about.

Both of them have matured in subtle yet significant ways since the beginning of their canons. It's interesting to watch.

Clare is also excellent at it, in different ways. The life of an organization warrior is one of being given orders and missions with minimal explanation; they're not expected nor allowed to have much control over things. Different people react to this differently, of course, but what it basically means is that a Claymore has to learn to either be patient about everything, or to pick and choose her battles about when she can afford to be impatient. Clare's in the latter camp.
Thor, on the other hand, is... uh. Not known for his patience! *laughing* He is in fact pretty awful at it. He'll grow up somewhat more, over the centuries, but it'll never come naturally or easily to him.
Regan and River are both pretty okay at it, but quietly grumpy about the necessity. (The necessity of patience, not the necessity of not having control of everything.) River's more impatient, but she's also younger and has various medical reasons for showing her impatience more.

That icon is neat.

As would Splinter!
(And thankyou, I thought that was the best of all possible default icons for Aang.)

Manny's basically existing in the Land of Perpetual Impatience, and though he can be cunning, he's very rarely sly, so... yeah, not so much.
Leslie has to be patient, working in government, but she definitely doesn't enjoy it. And it means that as opposed to playing it safe, she's often more willing to take bigger risks or impose herself into situations in such a way that makes her just look... eager to the point of exhausting, sometimes. I guess like a lot of things, she's aware of the reality of the need for patience, but constantly fights against it.
Elle... it kind of depends on the situation. Especially back in the day, her impulsiveness and impatience would often get the best of her, leading her to commit rash acts. However, she's grown a bit, probably a lot thanks to Milliways, and also because in what was probably the biggest goal she set for herself in her life... well, let's just say it's hard to think of it as deferred gratification when "gratification" is definitely not a great word to describe that goal. And even though her Dad let her get a way with some shit, it wasn't the same as always getting what she wanted. She's pretty used to not getting that, so accepting that she doesn't have power over everything isn't that hard.
But when it comes to things she does have power over... well, Elle's just not sneaky or patient enough to do anything but cut to the chase, a lot of the time.

Carol is not very patient. She doesn't like waiting nearly as much as she likes hitting things.

Carol is charming, I want to tag her with many of mine now that my time is rather more my own.

These are his basic courses of action:
1) he flails wildly, fails spectacularly, and makes things worse than they already are
2) he lashes out, hurts everyone within arm's length (emotionally and sometimes physically) and makes things worse than they already are
3) he gives up, indulges in self-destructive behavior, and makes things worse than they already are

Pinkie's an innocent sort of impatient: totally a kid on Christmas morning waiting for her gifts - BOUNCE BOUNCE CAN WE BOUNCE!?
Clementine wheedles and whines to get what she wants; she's too fiery to be patient.

So in other words, more fun. :)
