SO HEY, I have been promising to come to America and visit you lot for ages, right?

New York, New York, around the weekend of 22 and 23 September. Who's around? Who's likely to be around? How many Milliwaysers can I hug at once? (I have long arms. I bet it's a few.) How many people can I horrify by pretending I ride to work on a kangaroo? Is there a coffee place in New York that does a decent flat white?

Seriously, though, I know I don't play much any more, but this game still owns, like, 75% of my heart. Maybe 80. It would be super excellent to meet you guys in the real world. Is anyone free that weekend?

Your timing is perfect in that you are here a weekend that does not lead immediately into a Jewish holiday, so Batya and I are likely to have some time Sunday. I cannot tell you how excited I am that you are finally coming here!

I'm so very excited! I keep counting down the days till the end of work. There are so many things I want to see!

A flat white is, I have since discovered, a Melbourne invention, but it's pretty similar to a cafe latte, so I can still indulge my caffeine addiction. And one day I'll make you all come to Melbourne and taste good coffee. :D

Due to new job, I'll be in Michigan instead of on the East Coast, which sucks.

I was really hoping to be in the right place to see you and yes, you should be able to get a flat white, I just don't remember the other name. I don't drink coffee but watched my parents interpret New Zealand coffee names.

If you're lucky, you'll find an Australian barista at one of the Gregory's Coffee shops (my favorite, as the staff is always friendly and accommodating), or try Culture Espresso Bar where they actually do serve flat whites.

And in case you're interested, there's also an Australian restaurant/pub called Eight Mile Creek. The kangaroo steak is tourist-priced, although the sweet potato fries are awwwwwesome. There's Aussie/Kiwi imported beer if you drink, it's run by really friendly Aussies, and I hear it draws all the NYC-based Aussies out of the neighborhood.
