Whoops, time to jump on the hiatus bandwagon! I haven't been around much in Milliways proper, but still, as a PSA:

Wednesday morning I'm off to Spain to walk El Camino de Santiago with the parental and sisterly types, and in an effort to cut down on the weight in my backpack, I'm not bringing a computer. (I KNOW, I'M TERRIFIED TOO. I'm bringing a smartphone, though, I'm addicted not crazy.) I'll be back in the US on October 3 and somewhat settled in my new digs in Seattle on October 9.

I will miss y'all, and I'll see you in about 700km!

(PS: Anyone have recommendations for good audiobooks? Milliways canons are SUPER welcome, and good versions of classics would be great too. <3!)

That is included! Oh, and also the Tales of the Red Panda audiobooks, but not until you're far enough in the podcast that they wouldn't be spoilery... which is far enough along that you should probably just get all the way through the podcast first.

Oh, wow - I've read of that trip, but have never known anyone (current era, obviously) who's done it! I look forward to hearing about it when you're back. Have a good time!

Sir Ian McKellan reading The Odyssey, any of the Temeraire books which are read by Simon Vance, and the Kate Daniels series.

I have a 45 minute drive to and from work so listen to a lot of audio books and these are mint and are relistened to a lot.

Well, I recommend any Matthew Reilly books, but, then again, I do that to anyone who asks, also I don't know how good the audio books are.

For Audiobooks specifically, if you can get hold of a copy of Stephen Fry reading any (or all!) of the Harry Potter books, then do it, those are astoundingly well read. There is a hefty price tag to come with it, but, in my opinion, it is well worth it.

The audiobook for World War Z is amazing. Evidently, Mel Brooks called all his buddies and said, "Hey, my kid's got an audiobook coming out; come be in it!" Both Carl and Rob Reiner, Jurgen Prochnow, Alan Alda, Mark Hamill, and lots of other very talented people make an excellent book into an excellent audiobook.

The only audio I listen to regularly is Cabin Pressure, which is a radio sitcom rather than an audio book. It's hilarious in a very 'what else can go wrong?' kind of way, and you can get it from Audible.

If you can find an audiobook of Villains By Necessity, DO IT. To be fair, though, I don't know if such a creature exists.

For one that I know exists: Dealing With Dragons. If the rest of the Enchanted Forest series is available, do that too; I've only listened to the first one, but it's one of the best audiobooks I know of. Full cast!

Also also: Any and all Discworld. My only issue with those is the pronunciation of 'Ptraci' in Pyramids (I'm all '...guys, it's supposed to sound like Tracy!').

THINGS THAT ARE BRILLIANT: DISCWORLD AUDIOBOOKS. I only have Pyramids and Soul Music, but there are plenty others!
I stumbled across Dealing With Dragons on tape at the library aaaaaaaages ago, not long after I first read the books. Never did look for the others, though.

Seconding this! My daughter listens to the whole series to sleep at night.

Tina Fey's Bossypants is a HI-larious audiobook; even funnier than the text.

I definitely recommend that.

But EEE. Good luck!

Not audiobooks, but radio shows- there are places out there where you can pull down entire runs of Challenge of the Yukon (later called Sergeant Preston of the Yukon) or other old school radio programs without much difficulty. The first season is composed of fifteen-minute episodes and none of the later seasons run episodes any longer than thirty minutes.

They're not audiobooks so much as radio plays, but I highly recommend Big Finish's line of Eighth Doctor serials. At least, if you like Doctor Who. (I'm sure their stuff involving other Doctors is good too, but the Eighth Doctor stuff is what I've listened to.)

Also Cabin Pressure, which has been mentioned.
