Let's talk recipes. Is there any foodstuff unique to your pup's canon? If so, is there a recipe for it, whether official or fan-made? Post links if you got 'em! (If you can't come up with anything canon-unique, share some recipes for foods you personally associate with your pup and/or their canon.)

I have made several recipes from there and they were mostly very nice!* The Wow-Wow Sauce, especially, was certainly not what I would have expected but was completely delicious (even with vegetarian substitutes).

*Exception: the Bananana Soup Surprise. The, er, genuine version had better be really effective, 'cause I did not see its appeal. Maybe I did it wrong.

I've made the Wow-Wow sauce several times for family holiday gatherings. It goes really nicely with ham or with miniature beef Wellingtons. (An appetizer we learned to make in my cooking classes. It involves puff pastry, inch-long pieces of beef browned in a little butter with some garlic, and garlic-herb cheese spread on the beef instead of onions and mushrooms.)

It works with tofu, too. I have a vegetarian cousin. I'd suggest the use of steak-style fakemeat strips, but if that doesn't work baked tofu preseasoned with some form of garlic should be okay. Dunno about ordinary tofu, never tried plain old firm.

*cracks knuckles* In-universe:

Imitation strange meat pie
Brahmin Wellington
Mirelurk cakes
Wasteland omelet
Mississippi Quantum Pie (NB: the primary ingredient in this is the same soda Ellen uses to make high yield dirtybomb grenades)
Cook-Cook's Fiend Stew
How to Eat Rat (everything from snacks to desserts!)
Ruby's Radscorpion Venom Casserole
... oh heck, why not: virtually anything on this list or this list.

RL: that depends. Do you want the soda version or the alcoholic one?

Canon: energy shakes (with assorted varieties such as quantum shake, power-up malt, NiCad booster), chips (eaten like our chips/crisps, but look like small circuitboards; known to come in flavours including Alt & Vinegar), strange wriggly things from the Web generally referred to by fans as Web slugs. (Otherwise we've mostly seen doughnuts, which are very easy to model, but there have been other human-ish foods as well.)

Non-canon but official adventure game books: code cola, piezoelectric pizza.

Millicanon mostly inspired by the game books: binary burgers, macros 'n' cheese, root dir floats.

There was at least one fan site, A Minor Glitch, which had some recipes among the craft projects, but it is sadly gone now. I am unable to find any others, which may mean there aren't any or it may just mean that "reboot" is a bloody useless search term.

Cookbooks from other eras are quite popular, so I know that medieval, Regency and Western books all exist, as do Roman and Greek ones. That covers Will, Demeter, Jane, William, the Pirate King and Sameth.

As Amy pointed out, Discworld cookbooks are around and are ones I'd love to own. I feel like there's got to be numerous Narnian cookbooks, but according to Amazon there are only two. From what I know of 60s food, a lot of it can be left in the past and that's all of mine.

Felix's canon has no specific recipes, but most visitable towns have at least one stove that you can examine to find out what's cooking. These include: Thieves' Stew, shrimp in chili sauce, pickles with garlic, Tolbi seafood pasta, mulukhiya soup, nan (with added nuts and raisins) (possibly naan? The context doesn't clarify), seasonal veggies with lamb meat and oyster seasoning, and famous Contigo cookies (which apparently take years to learn to bake even if you have the recipe).

Fluttershy is apparently a good enough cook to exactly match the picture in an illustrated cookbook (except for the cherry she was unable to get), but we don't get the recipe for whatever that is that she made - or even, I suspect, the full ingredient list.

I must admit, the main reason I suggested this DE is so I would have an excuse to link to My Little Recipes: Cooking is Magic. (Click the "Recipes" link to avoid having to sift through random Tumblr bullshit.)

There are a lot of special foodstuffs mentioned in MLP, mostly by Pinkie Pie. Probably the most well-known is the chimicherrychanga, which Pinkie describes as "mashed-up cherries in a tortilla that's deep fried." Every one of the fan recipes I've seen substitutes cherry pie filling for straight-up cherries, but either way it sounds delicious.

Not so many unique foodstuffs mentioned in the Old Kingdom. The Slayers anime (season 2, Slayers Next) gives dragon-based foodstuffs an entire episode. Delicacies such as dragons-fin soup, dragon souffle, sukiyaki with marbled dragon-meat and dragon shabu-shabu are mentioned, but no recipes.

As for foodstuffs in Sunshine's canon? WHERE DO I START. All her recipes are supposed to be her own creations, and are TRAGICALLY not well-defined enough for readers to be sure what they are, so I've semi-sorta tacked most of them onto real-world recipes. Her Cinnamon Rolls are much, much, bigger, but the Disney Main Street Bakery's recipe is a good stand-in. Bitter Chocolate Death's analog is Chocolate Nemesis. For Lemon Lechery, I use Strawberry Lemon Bars, though Lemon Lechery would have more filling. Yum. Meringuamania are large meringue cookies filled with gooey strawberry-chocolate filling. Maple Poundcake also exists.

Other things I've had her bake, there are real-world recipes for. Examples: Maple-Pecan Pumpkin Bars, White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal-Bars, Dark Chocolate Cranberry-Orange Scones, and Mini Sticky Toffee Cakes. In all honesty, the Gingerbread Bagels foodblog has become my go-to place for mouth-watering, artery-clogging recipes for Sunshine to use. It doesn't hurt that every recipe in the site is explained in pictures of drool-inducing recipes-in-progress.

Googling "hobbit recipes" gets 110,00 results.

I suspected as much.

As for the rest, food doesn't generally play much importance in the plot. (Though of course, sales of shawarma have gone up since The Avengers came out. I haven't tried it because I'm not crazy about lamb.) It only really comes up in Merlin when there's a shortage, usually caused by magic, or Merlin has to do some shenanigans while Arthur is eating. They seem to eat a lot of stew and chicken legs.

Jack's recipes, when they do come up, are the many various things you can do with apples. He likes apples.

Unique? I don't know about that. Some of this stuff may be common in some part of the real world. I think that the recipes for baked potato toppings may be a good example. I have seen postings on the official forums to the effect of OMG TUNA AND SWEETCORN IS GODLY ON A BAKED POTATO WHY HAVEN'T I EVER TRIED THIS BEFORE? There are also meat pies, which due to the game being developed in Britain but with a large audience in the United States, have been reintroduced to some American households due to the game. The cooking, Food, and Drinks articles on th unofficial wiki has more, but understandably there are repeat. I like looking at the Gnome Cooking article for the more unique recipes. Headcanon says Amascut's favorite dessert is the Chocolate Bomb. The recipes are necessarily simplified, so some improvisation is needed to cook some of this up in the real world.

The only things that may be truly unique are some of the ingredients, but recently a list of acceptable substitutes was recently released in an 'Letters to the NPCs' type thing.

Next question is how long have you been cooking? To start, many of the ingredients you list are already available to you. Hello! Why has the proper research not been performed?

*turns away* I don’t want any arguing, I just want two seaturtle risottos, yes? *turns back*

Let me help you out a little bit: you can get eel, toad’s legs and monk fish, for a start. Maybe I’ll let you get away with kelp and rainbow fish as they go by slightly different names: seaweed and rainbow trout.

For Evil Dave's Spices of DOOM, that’ll be: cayenne, paprika, turmeric and dried coriander. Gnome spice is a complex flavour, similar to quatre épices (pepper, nutmeg, ginger and clove). I never need anything else in my cooking.

*turns away* Where’s the chompy sauce? WHERE IS THE &**^$%£ CHOMPY SAUCE? This is a kitchen nightmare!*turns back*

For fruits you’ll need:

Dwellberries = blueberries
Redberries = red currants
Sq’irk = durian fruit
Strange fruit = figs
White tree fruit = peaches

Job done.

With your meats it’s a bit simpler, yes? The majority just taste like turkey - even the fish. The secret to their flavour is what you do with them. Having said that, I find raising them yourself and, in particular, naming them can make a real difference to the meat. Try names such as Antony, Ainsley, Jamie, Delia, Gary and Nigella - they worked for me.

*turns away* *For Guthix's sake, man - IT'S RAW! Just throw it in the bin. I wouldn't serve that to a dog. *turns back*

On the brewing front; do I look like a bartender? Seriously though, I have an F-Word for you right here: fermenting. The vat used in the brewing process adds a very specific flavour to these beverages. It really cannot be replicated. It's all about using the proper tools. Without them you're just a cook, not a chef, yes?

Sometimes we see Wally eating.

The Wests buy ice cream in containers the size of his torso and Wally eats it like a kid on a hot day with a quart brick.

Eventually, you'll be able to look at food again. (Robin wouldn't lie to us, right?)

Um, oh yeah. M'Gann bakes chocolate chip cookies. I figure it's the recipe that comes with the chips or something she got off the internet.

Apart from the no-cal no-nute foodlike and coffee-like substances in Borgel's netherworld diners, there's really no "unique" food item in any of my pups' canons. And even if you COULD reproduce that, why would you want to?

There's plenty of OTHER food present in Borgel - it is a Daniel Pinkwater novel, after all. And I'm not certain if Chef Chow's Hot and Spicy Oil or some equivalent to it exist or not. But nothing unique, per se.

Reno doesn't have any really unique foodstuffs. Terrible things do, however, happen to jars of jelly and peanut butter. Show-unique food chains include Burger Cousin, Tacos Tacos Tacos (Never order from Terry), and the gastrointestinal tract destroying Hottys.

Brisco again doesn't have any show-unique food items. There's a subplot about a poisoned pheasant and, more importantly, at one point Brisco visits the world's first fast food restaurant and drive ride-in, but that's it!
