DE: You find a bag of cash, what do you do?

From jennalyn:
Inspired by the tabletop RPG DE: in D&D the alignment of your character influences their personality and their moral code.

What are your characters' alignments? You can take a test
here to determine it, or peruse the charts collected here. If your character or fandom shows up in one of those charts, do you agree or disagree with the alignment assigned, and why?

Bonus question, do you, like me, find yourself drawn to characters of a particular alignment, or are you all over the chart?

For those who find the D&D aliments a little restricting or doesn't make sense, how about another game's? I personally like the Palladium system.

[Have a neat idea for a DE topic? Leave a comment here!]

Last time I did this I had a full set. Let's see:

Dinah Lance: Lawful Good
Renee Montoya: Neutral Good
Melaka Fray: Chaotic Good
Death: Lawful Neutral
Teresa of the Faint Smile: True Neutral
Machiavelli: Chaotic neutral
Floyd Lawton: Chaotic Evil

Marguerite Blakeney: Neutral good.
Will Turner: Lawful neutral

So no, not quite a full set :)

You could totally do one of those charts with Claymores though:

Lawful Good: Dietrich
Neutral Good: Galatea
Chaotic Good: Miria
Lawful Neutral: Deneve
True Neutral: Clare
Chaotic Neutral: Helen
Lawful Evil: Priscilla
Neutral Evil: Riful
Chaotic Evil: Ophelia

Amirite, Becca and Gen?

Definitely Good, marginally Lawful. I kind of see Enzo as a Neutral Good sprite with a Lawful Good format, if that makes sense.

Ray: Clocks out at Lawful to Neutral Good on the test. I'm thinking probably Neutral Good given that he's a New Yorker and honestly, most of us have a pretty strong innate slant away from authority.

Mordin: Chaotic Good on the Mass Effect 2 alignment chart I like best. To back that up with a quote: “Lots of ways to help people. Sometimes heal patients; sometimes execute dangerous people. Either way helps.”

Gordon: Prrrrobably Neutral to Chaotic Good in the D&D system. I can't slot him into Palladium all that well, although if I tried it'd probably be closest to Scrupulous.

Shephard: On the test, clocks out at Lawful Good, with Lawful Neutral and Neutral Good close behind.

Arcade: Neutral/Chaotic Good/Scrupulous. He's very big on personal independence, but also on helping people and standing in defense of the poor, abused, and weak of the community, and he has a great dislike for inequitable wealth distribution and social injustice.

Medic: Miscreant in the Palladium system. Not Diabolical, because he's disgusted by people who waste perfectly good opportunities to advance science in favor of indulging idiotic personal racial theories. Also he won't harm children unless they're miserable little shits like, say, Joffrey Baratheon, in which case, bring out the needles. Put him under Neutral Evil; he's got too many standards to count as chaotic.

Ellen: Scrupulous in the Palladium system. Believes too much in the importance of duty, law, justice, and the community to be chaotic good in AD&D, so neutral good there; can't be lawful good because she's quite happy to trash screwed-up law and order (see: anything Vault-related, ever).

Varric: Unprincipled in the Palladium system. Hard to place in the D&D system; he gives the impression of being chaotic neutral, given that he doesn't give a toss about the morality of local politics and is mostly in things for the thrill of it, but he has standards ("Where's your dwarven honor, Bartrand?") and he tends to quietly do good deeds when nobody's looking (see: protecting Merrill when she's careless enough to walk through Lowtown alone at night), etc. Also looks after his family's interests despite having the option of just walking away and leaving it all on his older brother's head. I'd have to say chaotic neutral to chaotic good but honestly, unprincipled fits better.

Thalestris: … I really don't know, and she's going to die soon in canon anyway, so I'm not going to work that one out.

Zira: I'm thinking neutral good; the apes of the novel have a strong tendency towards Lawful Whatever due to an overwhelming societal thrust towards adhering to the principles and examples of the past. Zira and Cornelius have more impulses towards seeing things differently or changing things than most, and she intensely dislikes harming others and is studying humans with the intent of making things better for her fellow apes.

Hmm.

Felix I would independently peg as Lawful Good-leaning-Neutral. The test says LG, but closer to NG than to LN. Curious. I rather like this alternate system, in which Felix is primarily White, with Blue and/or Green secondary. (Sometimes I think he wanders back and forth over the line between those two.)

Kain... probably LN. Let's see what the test says. True Neutral, apparently. But fairly close to both Lawful and Good. On the wheel, he's probably White-secondarily-Black. A highly conflicted combination, which seems appropriate.

Fluttershy I'd peg as Neutral Good. Someone else pegs her as Neutral Adorable and Neutral Girly. According to the test she's... Lawful Good. What even, test. Some of that, I think, is that the options are fairly limited - the "would you defend your country" one doesn't make allowances for "I'm scared", for instance. Anyway, the wheel rolls her as Green. Maybe a little White, but mostly just Green.

Cranky is Neutral Grumpy. That's really all there is to say on the matter.

I noted it when I first picked her up, but Fluttershy is by far the most Chaotic character I've ever had. Which should tell you something about me.

On a whim I went through the other test they offered, What D&D Character Are You.

Shephard came back Lawful Good Human Paladin/Ranger. Fighter/Monk/Cleric were all tied for second place in terms of his classes. A little to my surprise, Human only just barely beat out Dwarf for his race...

(Ava's Neutral Evil, but it looks like she scored just as high for Chaotic Evil and pretty high for Lawful Evil. Though I wish the quiz'd had answers like, "Of course I'd help out, it makes people like me"?)

'Dite got True Neutral.

The Trickster pops up in those charts as Chaotic Neutral, and I'm pretty inclined to agree! In fact, when he finally does make a choice in the big battle between good and evil, he goes so far as to pick a third side: humanity.

As for my others, Gaeta starts out Lawful Good and shifts toward Neutral Good by the end of canon. Olivia is probably Lawful Good as well. Bolin? No idea. The test pegs him as True Neutral, with Lawful Neutral and Neutral Good tied for an extremely close second; he probably bounces between all three with some regularity.

Will would be Neutral Good with a touch of Chaotic.

Charles would be Neutral Good.

Sameth would be Lawful Good.

Moist would be I'd say almost a true Neutral, he doesn't consider himself good or evil just selfish.

Demeter would be Neutral or Chaotic Good.

William would like to be Lawful Good but I think he's closer to Neutral Good.

Jane would be Neutral Good.

Tumnus would be Lawful Good.

The Pirate King would be Chaotic Evil.

I think I have a type and according to that test I'm Lawful Good.

Tyler pegs out in both child and adult versions as Neutral Good, and in those charts well... "Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can....as long as you ever can."

He's seen the backsides of enough people abusing power to monkey with superpowers and kids that he doesn't immediately trust authority, though he'll give it a listen and consideration.

...before having her system sealed off by the Guardians... Dot would've pegged out fully at Lawful Good with only a slight neutral good leaning. Now she's Neutral Good with more Lawful leanings, seeing as she's using the system to work for her...and beat the legal and financial crap out of people who really deserve it.

...and god help all us poor sinners and relatively sane people.. Mother is so wedged in Chaotic Neutral that he's probably carved out his own weirdo-conspiracy apartment in there.

Havelock Vetinari: True Neutral, shading to Lawful Neutral later in life (although the laws in question are kind of still his own whims...)

Sabriel: Lawful Good
Shelley Winters: Neutral Good

Leo Fudou: Chaotic Good.
Leonardo da Vinci: Chaotic Good.
Seamus Finnigan: Chaotic Good.
Teddy Lupin: Lawful Good.

From ones in sandboxes:

Maduin: Chaotic Neutral.
Mitsuaki Gamou: Chaotic Neutral / Chaotic Evil (depending on age).

* Heal the sick as best you can?
* Avoid contact with the sick?
* Flee the country?

Where is "Tent fingers and comment 'EEEExcellent'?"

Anyhow, the test scores Amascut as Chaotic Evil, though she is protesting loudly that she is true neutral and people have their priorities screwed up. She helps chaos, law, good, and evil aligned folks achieve their goals! What do you think SMITE EVIL!!! is all about? Praying that the other party has a change of heart?! YOU LIFE LOVING NINNIES!

I took the D&D character test for her, and she came out Chaotic Evil Half-Orc Ranger (10th Level)

Human came in a close second for race and sorcerer for class. It's funny that fighter came in as the only other class with a positive score; She's very much a product of her world :D

Mark certainly starts as Lawful Good. Events conspire to shift him towards Chaotic Good later in the series.

The other test came up with a Lawful Good Human Sorceror, with really high physical stats (18s and 19s) and a charisma (the stat important for sorcerors) of 13. Not sure about that, but there you are.

Sunshine is the sunniest Neutral Good evar.

Yrael has always been Chaotic Neutral. Some of his tendencies towards being protective about what he considers his may come across as Neutral Good-type stuff, but that's an illusion. It's all done for selfish reasons, in the end.

Zelgadiss is a Chaotic Neutral who sometimes gets roped into doing a Neutral Good's job of helping save the world.

Carol Danvers is Lawful Good. I think the most obvious example of this is from Civil War. Carol understands Steve's motives for breaking the law, but she feels she has to be on the side of the law. She's less comfortable when Tony starts to use not-so-good methods to enforce the law. And in general she can't stand to see someone being wronged and not do something about it.

Lady Mary Crawley is trickier but she's probably either True Neutral or Chaotic Neutral—I think I lean toward Ture Neutral. (I actually saw a chart someone created that had her at Chaotic Evil, which I think displays a fundamental misunderstanding of her characters.) Anyway, she's very self-interested, but that's balanced out a decent sense of right and wrong. She doesn't always agree with laws (especially those concerning entailments), but she feels strong pressure to confirm to social norms.
