"I think I've heard folks say both but to be honest, I'm not much for the explanations, either metaphysical or physical.How's this table work for you?" She gestures to a table near the door with a clear escape route for Bean. Her first thought was sitting at Bar but she decided the stools might not be too comfortable for Bean. "I've always just thought of this place as a crossroads for other worlds."

She watches Bean for his reaction to this idea since the end of the universe didn't seem to faze him.

It works for Bean. If he needs to, he can get back out to his world. And if someone is in the way, he's got reasonably clear routes to those stairs, or that other door.

He nods agreement.

Unfortunately, intelligent as he is, he has yet to come across Quantum Mechanics, and hence the many worlds interpretations that could be seen as implicit in it. So, as familiar as he is with the phrase 'the ends of the earth', from which extrapolation to apply similar thinking to the universe is not a massive step, the idea of Many worlds, is not something he has come across yet.

"What do you mean, 'other worlds'?" Because she's obviously not using the word 'world' to mean 'planet'. Unless she is? but then, why not use the word planet? "And how is this a crossroads?"

"I'll try and explain but I warn you, I don't quite understand it all myself. First let's get you that soup," she replies waving over a rat. She takes a seat out of the path of the door but which gives her a good view of the room. Bean likely has already noticed she dressed in jeans and a white, professional looking longsleeved shirt but as she sits, a badge on a lanyard swings free of her leather jacket. The badge has her picture and a square of silver on it and looks quite official.

"My name's Andrea Nash by the way."

Yes, he has noticed her choice of clothing, as well as the manner in which she carries herself.

"People call me Bean." Yes, his choice of wording is deliberate.

"What's that badge around your neck for?" he asks.

She notes his phrasing but considering how much magic and weirdness she deals with one a daily basis, isn't surprised. "I'm glad to have met you Bean. I am a knight of the Order of Merciful Aid and this is my proof. See that square of silver? It's enchanted to turn black if anyone but me touched it. And don't worry if you've never heard of the Order or I won't be offended if you don't believe in magic, not all worlds that come here have magic."

"What kind of soup would you like? My treat." She adds now there's a waitrat at the table.

Bean hesitates. He's never heard of magic. Time to deal with that later. Food!

"Tomato."

*beat*

"Please." That is what people say when they're asking for something, right?
