Two DE's today since we have a problem with settings on the other one.

Hank I am seeing as knight, more for the craftiness needed to fully utilize the pieces movement pattern.
Palamedes is another knight for the metaphor this time.
Thalia is another rook since she is pretty straight forward.
Jessica is Queen as she is tricky and seems capable of just about anything to get the mission done.

Charles would be either the king as he sees the bigger picture and doesn't do as much action or possible bishop or rook.
Sameth would be a good rook.
William would be another knight who thinks he's a pawn.
Moist would be a bishop or a knight though he would try and be other pieces.
Demeter would be a queen as would Jane as they both have a lot of power but wield it differently.
Tumnus would be a rook who sees himself more like a pawn.
The Pirate King would be a knight.

(BTW, did you see my plot bunny posts on my journal? Might be something more for Moist there.)

Bumi and Mike are bishops, because they're always going to come at you sideways.
I'm not sure about Splinter or Aang though...

(My headcanon for Moriarty says that he's never played chess, doesn't really understand the rules, and is probably one of those people who calls the knights 'horses' and the rooks 'castles'.
He would also wonder why the Queen is so limited in her movement. Surely she should just be able to appear anywhere on the board and take every piece in a five square radius.
He'd probably pick it up very quickly, he's just never been interested in learning about it.)

Trowa is
an Assassin in Discworld chess uh. A bishop, I guess? (Really, he's an Assassin.)
Regan is probably a pawn. Sorry, Regan.
Thor is a queen. Ironically enough. Although you could make an argument for rook: straight unsubtle lines, swift motion, occasional ace (or king) up his sleeve.
Clare is a pawn who gets promoted to queen partway through the game.

[Ben seems to enjoy snarking the backroom lately.]

[Isn't snarking what the backroom is for?]

Sunshine would be a queen, pretending (with varying results) to be perceived as a pawn. >_>
Zelgadiss would be a bishop, always heading straight for his goal. :|

Felix... is, I think, either/both of knight and rook. Not a queen, though; he doesn't have all that versatility, or the oblique viewpoint that says "bishop" to me. He's just... straightforward, and not necessarily where you'd expect him to be.
Kain is a bishop. This causes me some little amusement.
Fluttershy is a king. This causes me somewhat more amusement, but it fits: she's the one that stays to the back and is unlikely to capture another piece in a typical game.
Cranky is... probably a pawn.

die. I think this is for narrative convenience, mostly. She has shown how effective she is as the Queen and that she is willing to do it, but well, that would wreck canon beyond repair. WHICH WOULD BE JUST FINE ACCORDING TO HER.no subject
Lois: she's on some sliding scale of knight-rook, depending on the situation. She's frequently Unsubtle, but also versatile and unpredictable. (She occasionally gets queen moments, though.)
Tavi is probably some piece in ludus, AKA Aleran-and-Canish not!chess. I'm sure it has some crazy, not-equivalent piece. In chess, he is a stupidly overpowered combo: knight-and-queen. He's decisive, swift, deadly, and versatile--and a wildcard doing the unexpected and insane.

I'm inclined to think John and Mako are both pawns. Though there is a voice in the back of my head telling me Mako's a bishop.

I think Kenny would be a pawn, steadfast and straightforward while watching everyone else's back.

The Knight isn't allowed to be anything but. He says so.
Lucas is a pawn. Who will make it across the board and become a queen.
Mia is a queen.

Jack is a pawn. Small, and easily overlooked, but just as capable of taking anyone else if you let him.
