Share what's made your week great this week. Anybody cook anything amazing for Thanksgiving? Good threads that need to be passed around? RL awesome of the umpteenth degree?
My only bar thread of note this week was Claudia's bartending yesterday. (I legit CACKLED when I saw Jim's tag in. Seriously. XD)
What I should be writing: novel, Yuletide treats (my assignment's essentially done), groundwork for the Christmas Carol plot. What I'm writing instead: More Hogwarts AU shenanigans. At least it's keeping me writing something? So far this has included a sandbox thread, me posting Ruby getting her wand because I liked it and wanted to share it around, me writing up through Claudia's wand-getting and (currently) Ruby and Snow bonding on the train, and a lot of rolling around in the Pottermore wand-wood info to figure out WANDS FOR EVERYONE. Or at least for everyone I'm including.
--OH YEAH AND THEN THE RL AWESOMENESS. I cooked food! It didn't come out of a package or have precise cooking instructions on it! I didn't burn down the kitchen! It was actually pretty damn good!
I also have a new laptop, which is a combination of awesome and argh because of the new OS and transferring of files and general transitional period. Gotta hand it to Windows 8, though, it may be weird but it starts up a LOT faster.
(By the way, does anyone know why my Firefox URL bar is being so weird? It's almost the full width of the window, but the text in it is behaving as though it's only an inch and a half wide.)
It was a little touch and go by my last day (crazy extended family, you're awesome and I love you, but oh can you be exhausting), but I survived the Thanksgiving holidays! I even stole enough downtime to write the next part of Olivia's trek through canon. Folks I'm threading with, expect tags later this evening. :D
(Also, in about a month's time, I will be the proud owner of these babies thanks to some recent birthday money. SO. GODDAMN. EXCITED.)
The Drama Llama and her new husband never showed up for T-Day! I made a tasty mushroom tart and my wife has made turkey curry, and a pumpkin-caramel syrup to add to such wonderful things as oatmeal and coffee for the next week.
I failed at RPG this week, but it was a holiday infused week, so I'm not going to beat myself up.
I wrote a canon-related EP that y'all will see later this month, made a lot of lists of things wot need doin', had a job interview, and generally got out a lot more than I have for the past six months.
I also spent the morning getting ready to leave my crappy webhost and their crappy security. Thanks, guys, love it when services go to pot.
Edited another 20,000 words on Ye Next Big Novel. Only 30,000 more to go.
I will take any accomplishment I can find at this point.
The Crime Doctor and I had game hens instead of turkey, and it was a success. Fewer leftovers and faster cooked. Which gave her all the more time to cook pies and cookies, and I swear I'm going to put on like twenty pounds because I moved in with her.
It was a good First Thanksgiving together.
(She's a forensic scientist, hence "The Crime Doctor.")
I had a wonderful lazy vacation at a friend's house that involved lots of movies, fandom talk and hanging out with her adorable cats.
To start off the break, I wrote a AU Thor/Sif story for a ficathon called The Waiting Sky.
I ended up doing some RP but not as much as I expected because friends and their cats were distracting. Though I did start my holiday shopping which I'm behind on due to my move.
Charles and Sariel are talking about the Slenderman aftermath, and he met Moriarty, who is fascinating and I've been wanting to thread with for a while. Also inspired by a canon rewatch, there is a post-canon and teenage Charles in PFSB and MM, these are open for ages.
Jill mentioned the various sandbox threads that we had of Sameth, Red and Claudia in AU!Hogwarts and Charles and Ruby post her most recent episode. I almost forgot, Charles is meeting Karen's amazing M over here.
I cooked SO MANY AMAZING THINGS for Thanksgiving. Although owing to having a wedding to attend on the day of, we had Thanksgiving dinner as Sabbath dinner on Friday night.
Appetizer was a baby spinach salad with a zahatar-and-ume-plum-vinegar dressing.
Main course was herb-roasted chicken (there weren't enough of us to justify cooking a whole turkey, even a small one), accompanied by cornmeal pudding, mashed turnips-and-potatoes, steamed string beans, and sourdough bread stuffing with turkey sausages and dried blueberries. And a homemade cranberry-raspberry relish, brought by my mom-in-law.
Dessert was apple pie with an almond-flour crust, served with whipped coconut cream.
I actually cooked this Thanksgiving, which is not the norm since I usually spend it with lots of family who have claimed cooking duties. I'm in Portland this year, so... yeah. :( But! I made awesomesauce wild mushroom stuffing, and yams (and/or sweet potato - I grew up thinking they were sweet potatoes but now they're labeled as yams everywhere) with cranberries and marshmallows, and a kickass pumpkin pie. My uncle made the turkey and gravy. We win.
Next week training starts for my staff in the brand new shiny shiny hospital of awesomeness (plans for putting a sign announcing the hospital's status as 'the brand new shiny shiny hospital of awesomeness' are pending). \o/
RP-wise... this girl here, Oswin, is making new friends. Even if she is a strange little bunny.
So, Skysong met a Robot and learns that a) Dragon is STILL not a commonly known language, and b) mindspeak does not work on metal beings, c) not being understood is TOTALLY NOT COOL. So now she's totally sulking and unhappy. Which means she'll need someone to pounce eventually to make her stop being sulky.
What works with kittens works with Skysong. Especially if it's something shiny and new.

In her honour, Milliways-wise, I have been having fun threading Enzo with his nieces, and a convention buddy obliged me with new userpics of them.

I think that first EP is from like two weeks ago or something, but I only just wrapped the last thread yyyesterday? Day before?

Most notably, Tuco arrived in the Bar and had to be restrained by security almost immediately.
Jim got a drink from Claudia during Happy Hour. And quoted my personal favorite part of "Alice's Restaurant." That's still in progress, I think.
Also in progress, Leela spoke with Sariel for the first time post-Slendyplot.
The last surviving Black Hand brought Kane back a present from the Scrin homeworld. He didn't intend to bring it with him to Milliways, but it did result in interesting threads with the Fool and Arcade Gannon.
