This morning, I tried to get up earlier than I did before the break and managed to make myself tea. I'm doing this as a way to try and be better about taking care of myself during the day with tea and food, but waking up while its still dark is hard.
What habits of theirs are your pups working to change or refuse to change? Variation of this, do your pups do resolutions?

The only one I really have an answer for is Regina (
It's an interesting -- but heartbreaking -- battle to watch.

(Which reminds me, I should amend that thanks, Cora, to include Rumpelstiltskin. :|)

Well, Jess sort of is in that she is going to have a paradigm shift soon of not defining herself so much on what happened in her past, but I don't think that is what you are looking for.

At the point I'm at in her canon, Jess is definitely trying to change the kind of outlook she has on life, post-breakup. Spencer is not the be and end all of her existence. She's essentially trying to find herself again.
And uh - judging by canon, sometimes it works. And sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes she just makes some really horrible and stupid mistakes. But she's learning!

He was awesome, even if he was weird - especially towards the end. Hahaha.

My others, no, not really, but they're less vocal about it than Bean was. (I'll just be over here snickering at future!Jack).

If you've read the second book of canon, then you should know what I'm thinking of.
Otherwise: not saying zip. Spoilers.

1 - The drinking. At this point in canon, he has somewhat of a good hold on it, but an alcoholic is an alcoholic and there will be times when he'll slip. He makes the effort by going to AA meetings, except that deep down he thinks it's just for show and doesn't really get the deeper message. Part of what makes for a successful recovery is not just not drinking, but admitting the problem and sharing in the support. Tommy keeps denying that he has a problem and frankly can't stand everyone else at the AA meetings.
2 - The lying. Tommy is a compulsive liar. ("In with the air, out with the lie.") I think it's more of a defense mechanism rather than him lying for malicious intent. If he doesn't want to hurt you (because of something he's done, which will in turn make you hurt him possibly by punching him in the face or kicking him in the nuts), he'll say what you want to hear, which will probably be a lie. Of course he also lies to get what he wants, but it's not so much 'getting' as 'keeping.' It's like, "I have my job/wife/kids/etc. - what can I do/say to keep from losing everything because of my shitty behavior?"
3 - The shitty behavior. I...could really go on about this, but I won't. He has a temper that can lead to physical violence; he's self-centered, controlling, jealous, and spiteful. He can't change any of this, as it all seems to be wired into his DNA. Even if he does try, he'll fall back into his usual ways.

Dr Thurlow's worst habit is pushing themself too hard. It's not so much the fact that they poke their nose into so many awful things that leads to them losing (and regaining) their sanity so often; it's more that they don't stop long enough to properly recover in between awful things, and they don't confide in other people enough to reduce the strain much. I don't know if they'll ever kick this habit; it would certainly be an uphill battle.
