DE: Jack, I'm Flying!

And it would help to post to the backroom and not my personal journal....

All my writing lately seems to be gloomy, so today's daily is an attempt to counter that.

Your pup has landed in Neverland and needs to fly, like right now!
What is their happy thought? If they can already fly, let's pretend they can't unless they have a happy thought, different rules and all that.

See icon.

If for some reason this doesn't work because he needs to think of something that brings him true, deep-down, everlasting happiness it would still be tits have to be about his wife and kids.

Bean... Would be eternally doomed? He doesn't really do 'happy thoughts' just 'thoughts that let him survive'. Know, think, choose, do.

Max would think of Doris.

Alfred would remember a time before Mr and Mrs Wayne were murdered. He would no doubt remember that they're dead and come crashing down, at some time that would be most comical/awkward/annoying. Alternatively, he'd think about Bruce coming home. That's probably a better one at the moment.

Erik would now remember Thor, and what people can do if they dare. (Thanks, Jane :D )

For Jack, it would be spending time with his mother, with no possibility of being interrupted by his father.

Rue's happy thought is a toss-up between Katniss and their brief friendship or mockingjays.

Jinora's would be her family and possibly her romance novels.

Dani's happy thoughts would be, in order, Enzo, Danny, Jazz, her folks and remembering the day that then Fentons accepted her as a member.

Munch's happy thought is his first wife Gwen fig milkshakes.

Gordon's gonna be locking on to Alyx and the kids, unless he needs to fly at a time when he's feeling particularly cynical, at which point the happy thought will be the look on the G-Man's face when Gordon said "I'm not gonna choose, you choose" and Big G couldn't do it.

Adrian's got the moment when he first saw his momma alive again after Black Mesa.

Hektor's got any number of happy thoughts he can call on; most of them have to do with horses. So far, anyway.

I am not looking into Medic's psyche to see what an easily accessible happy thought is like for that man. Ghaaa.

Varric has any number of possibilities, but I think he'd be most likely to say the first time he got a thank you from a very appreciative female fan of one of his epic romances. Yes, he writes them canonically, they just don't come up in Bar much.

Ray has more than a few possibilities as well. Let's go with either the movie moment of "IsawitIsawitIsawit!!" or the Bar moment of "I AM HOME FROM BEING STUCK IN GARION'S WORLD FOR A RIDICULOUS NUMBER OF YEARS YAY TECHNOLOGY!".

Mostly he writes adventures and mysteries and things, but there are a couple of bits of banter where he says he's planning on switching to romances. I take this to mean that he's got material written and hasn't actually published it yet, or if he has, he's published it under a different name for sales purposes.

Leela - [personal profile] eyeeyecaptain - Nibbler, or any cute, fluffy, wittle endangered species.

Porthos - [personal profile] srspirate - See Tommy Gavin's icon. (Also wine, but it would have to be a proper vintage for a chase flight.)

Grace Augustine - [personal profile] donthidemycigs - Quaritch falling into a meat grinder. I mean. Discovering a cure for cancer.

Renee Walker - [personal profile] whathastobedone - Summer of '89, Virginia Beach.

Ray Carling - [personal profile] flickedmethevs - See Tommy Gavin's icon, and double it. There is no happier thought than twins. Twin's twins?

Lily Bell - [personal profile] maidenofthewest - Seeing Robert's dream through to the Pacific.

Zoë Washburne - [personal profile] someonetocarryyou - Life before the war. (Or the way Wash makes her laugh, like no one else can.)

Regina Mills - [personal profile] happilyneverafter - I want to say Henry, but she's still so torn up with that whole ~~situation that I'm pretty sure her answer is still seeing Snow White suffer, and the destruction of everyone's happiness.
ladyoflorien: I have no idea where that came from (Amused: TNG - Data has a laughing fit)

Yeah. Um. We definitely need to actually go over how Henry's 'more genre-savvy than you' will operate in Bar so I feel comfortable playing him.

And, um, maybe the Bar can help with her more painful aspects of canon?

I almost forgot.

Mordin, I think, is going to be thinking of his thesis defense (probably at the tender age of ten, knowing him). Possibly something involving his favorite nephew.

And Ellen... Sheriff Simms offering her the keys to what used to be Mr. Burke's house and telling her to consider herself a Megaton citizen. Elder Lyons offering to circumvent the usual recruitment procedures and give her a full Knight's rank and membership in the Brotherhood of Steel. Scribe Younes saying "We read you, unidentified signal source", because it meant they'd successfully made contact with Elliott on the alien ship. Recognizing Scribe Cancio's schematics for his replica of Jingwei's shocksword, for her...

Thor: friends! battle! flying! Honestly, it's pretty easy for Thor to find a happy thought to latch onto. He's a live-in-the-moment kind of guy.

Clare: Teresa. Anything Teresa-related that isn't her death. Probably just one of the quiet happy times when they were hanging out, when Teresa put her hand on Clare's head or she fell asleep on Teresa's lap or whatever.

River: just flying would do it. Or thinking about dancing.

Regan: there are any number of happy moments from her kids' childhoods to draw on. Or the day she graduated from college or grad school, or riding her then-favorite horse around a jump course, or her wedding day.

Trowa: is refusing to tell, on general principles that it's no one's business. (There are various choices, all just quiet content moments with his sister/boyfriend/friends/lions. He's just a control freak who thinks emotions are need-to-know.)

Kirk: Flying is happy unto itself. And let's be honest, Jim is halfway to being Peter Pan anyway.

Knox: Rapunzel, and the Mets winning a World Series. (Replace Rapunzel with Batya, and you have me. And the Mets will win another one someday!)

Howard: See under Kirk.

Gibbs: Rum

Charlie: The one time he went flying with Sallie at Cubefall.

Cyborg: Also see under Kirk. Never realized I have three people who know how to pilot planes/spaceships.

Oooh I quite like this question:

Raph is easy, he just has to think about Abigail.

Splinter would probably think about Sallie, or of a moment from his younger years watching his children grow up.

If Bumi wasn't thinking about his family, then it would probably be the ocean itself. Standing atop the bow while the ship runs at full steam is one of his favorite things to do. And aside from actually being on a bison, is the closest he gets to flying.

Ida has thrusters of her own, so she has no need for happy thoughts. Which is really for the best.

The Loompas think about the day they escaped from the factory.

Aang would need to think about flying, or possibly Katara.

Mike...is the hard one at the moment. Sad as it sounds, my ever-the-optimist is running a bit short on happy thoughts.

Henry: probably Emma actually saying she loves him.

Tavi: Kitai. His son.

Lois: The moment she finds Chloe alive and well. Later, it'll be her first published article, and getting hired to and then first front page at the Planet. Later those are joined by ones with Clark in one persona or another, and eventually of flying with him. Actually, just the thought of being able to fly with him under her own power would be ridiculously exciting.

Mia's got a lot of happy thoughts to choose from, the top ones being Draco and the kids.

Meanwhile, Lucas and Lohengrin have both staked out their little corners of misery. If pressed, Lucas will probably think about Milliways and all of his friends here. Lohengrin is currently doomed to fly exactly the way a brick doesn't.

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2013-01-09 12:20 am (UTC)(link)

Here there be Princess Tutu spoilers:

Autor only has one thought at any given time, happy or otherwise: Drosselmeyer. He's essentially skipped puberty researching the man's power of story spinning. If someone handed Autor the ability, he'd be flying without suspicious magic dusts.

Would Carol have many happy thoughts left if she couldn't fly anymore? Cause flying, either on her own or in a plane, is her favorite thing ever.

Jim - Scotch.

Borgel - Classical music, Melvin, traveling through time, space, and the Other.

Leela - Perhaps she would think of traveling with the Doctor. But I think she derives greater happiness from the thrill of the hunt.

Kane - WORLD DOMINATION! Also, Tiberium.

(He's very single-minded in his goals).

Caius - I'm not sure, actually. Perhaps he'd think of the hills and plains of Cyrodil.

And, among the recently-apped:

Garyn - As a child, gathering roots and flowers at the base of the wall of the Imperial City.

I can only think of one kind of happy thought for Dr Thurlow that isn't either tempered with some form of unhappiness (pain, madness, or wistfulness generally) or subject to them taking the wind out of their own sails with a jolt of pessimism. It's the satisfaction they take in a job well done. So they'd be thinking about closing a case or capturing a monster. Probably after a false start where they thought about the warmth, light, and general lack of deadliness on the Surface and began to rise up, only to come crashing back down to earth in an entirely literal sense when they started brooding about how it's forever closed to them or how they didn't appreciate it when they had it.

Aradia, on the other hand, is incredibly easy to answer for. She would be thinking about her return from the dead. It's the first time she ever felt truly alive, and it came after a long spell of first feeling nothing and then mostly just feeling murderous rage and little else.
