Making another one up on the fly.

If your pup was a genre of music, which would they be?

Tommy is so very classic rock n' roll, with his penchant for sunglasses and leather jackets and his aging rebel-without-a-cause attitude.

Not sure what Lou is. I'm thinking 1950s doo-wop, with songs about sweet things and broken hearts.

Interesting one!

Ben is big band or maybe modern swing though I'm not sure I could tell you why. Ult Ben (since he's making noises in my head again) is alt. rock; Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Sound Garden.

Jessica is either surf or funk metal.

Thalia is pop punk; Green Day, Blink 182, etc.

Val is electronica; Ladytron, Goldfrapp and the like. Though her heart is always open for Dazzler.

Hank is jazz.

Andrea is a tough one. I can see her as rock or heavy metal but at the same time P!nk fits her so well.

ETA: Since I can't resist another old pup, Kate Kane/Batwoman was totally rockabilly and goth when it was more punk/post-punk.

Carol Danvers: Definitely 90s angry girl rock.

Lady Mary Crawley: Can I call "Last Night of the Proms" a musical genre?

I actually have a head canon of Carol and Jess going to shows as often as they can. = ]

Clementine: Acid Rock.

Dixie: Showtunes, of course.

Jules: Pop-Rock. I'd say girl groups but that doesn't feel apt.

Pinkie: 80s music! Big, bubbly pop music with lots of synthesizers.

Times like this I wish I paid attention to classification of music more.

With Amascut, I think Shirley Manson, Anne Danielewsky, and Free Dominguez. Songstresses who write lyrics that make me question their sanity. I think Free Dominguez and the Kidneythieves are classed industrial, Shirley Manson and Garbage started out as post-Grunge or something, and I don't even know what POE is anymore, besides that catchall and super broad alternative rock term. So, mostly on the Alt.Rock side. Industrial is in its own weird little niche between Metal and EDM, though. But there is some poppy stuff that sounds a bit on the insane side with the appropriate music accompaniment to expose the lyrics for what they are.

I listen for the lyrics, mostly.

This is an interesting one, but tricky as I realize that I either end up with particular artists or much more sweeping.

Going historically Will would be traditional English music, but I think for his personality he's more classic rock like Bruce Springsteen.

Charles is either classical music for he's the calm center at all, but he does have his moments when something stronger could work. I'm just not exactly sure what. In terms of classic, I'd say that someone like Vivaldi suits him.

William is definitely alt-rock, alt-country, I keep coming back to Jakob Dylan music for him.

Moist is fast and quick music, something with a 20s feel, the opening music of The Jeeves and Wooster tv show perfectly captures him.

Jane is the music of her era and her movie's soundtrack actually fits her, its a beautiful soundtrack if you've never heard it before. Though the music of someone like Tori Amos also fits her with the strong message it holds.

Demeter is tricky as she's a lot of different things and not easily captures. I've never really had just one soundtrack for her as I've had for some of my others. I'd love suggestions.

Sameth is another alt-country one as he kind of fits in between a lot of places. Someone like The Avett Brothers fits him especially their song I and Love and You.

Tumnus is quieter music, classical again, but I'm not sure who.

The Pirate King has his own soundtrack that suits him perfectly.

Leela - [personal profile] eyeeyecaptain - A fusion of pop electronica, and new wave folk. She once followed Beck around on tour for a whole summer.

Porthos - [personal profile] srspirate - TRUMPETS. (This is totally a musical genre, shut up. Besides, his music must be louder than The Pirate King's, for ego's sake.)

Grace Augustine - [personal profile] donthidemycigs - Hard rock/metal. Grace likes her music loud.

Renee Walker - [personal profile] whathastobedone - Renee readily admits to classic rock and grunge, but is more quiet about her total love for 80s pop. You know she's rocking the Cindy Lauper and Duran Duran on her ipod, though.

Ray Carling - [personal profile] flickedmethevs - All the best hits from the 70s and 80s, luv. [insert inappropriate gesture here]

Lily Bell - [personal profile] maidenofthewest - Lily is rather fond of the music fashionable in France in the nineteenth century. And classical, of course.

Zoë Washburne - [personal profile] someonetocarryyou - Anything what's good for a dance.

Regina Mills - [personal profile] happilyneverafter - Regina prefers the tears of the innocent. I mean. What. (In other words, I actually have no idea. Willing to guess she hates singing animals, though.)

Aw, no Alvin & the Chipmunks for Henry?

(Also, lol @ Porthos.)
ladyoflorien: I have no idea where that came from (Amused: TNG - Data has a laughing fit)

Hahaha, the Mills household is an Alvin-and-the-Chipmunks-free zone. XD Besides, I'm not sure what Lee thinks, but I get the feeling Henry's tastes are slightly more sophisticated.

:D

Absolutely no Alvin-and-the-Chipmunks in the Mills house. I think it is possibly one of the few things Henry, Regina, and Emma might all agree on. *shudders*

Punk cabaret, or steampunk rock or whatever the hell it's called. The sort of music that Emilie Autumn makes. An old-fashioned sound, but with more guitar screeching.

I am absolutely blanking on anything for Tavi and Henry. Lois, however, is '80s hair metal. Totally canon.
