unlocking ALL THE THINGS

So, in some upcoming norseplot stuff (that will probably go up late this Friday or early Saturday) there's going to be a wave of unlocking-magic. Unlocking ALL THE THINGS (except the cells), unless you want to opt out. If it's locked? Bam, unlocked. Won't necessarily pop open, unless it's the sort of thing only held closed by a lock (or unless you want it to).

It's aimed mostly at room doors, but if you've got something with a lock/latch/buckle/clasp/whatever under your pup's control that you want to have affected, go for it. If you don't want your pup to be affected by it, that is also totally fine; they can happen to be going into their room just after it happens, or staff at some point will realize there's a problem and rooms etc. will be locked again. It's not a constant effect, just a one-time unlocking with no residual anything.

Feel free to have fun with it. Make your pup paranoid; make them lose something important; play an enterprising thief and ransack the rooms of volunteers; do things I haven't even thought of. Have fun with it ^_^ There'll be a backroom post when it goes up, but in case you want to plan things out ahead of time, here you go.

(And if your pup wants to try to find the source of the unlocking-magic, that can be arranged too. Just let me know! I am here to be helpful)

:D ?

Dat world destroying sword

Kidding. It's probably reserved for someone else. And I doubt I will have any time this semester to ruin plots

ummm...

I suppose I will also volunteer Evil Chicken's room to get burgled. Treasure hoard, apple hoard, an egg laid by a magical rooster (it isn't a square egg and it wasn't laid on a roof, just so we are clear), I am sure there is something worth stealing. Problem is that Evil Chicken has no use for a door and has probably put a brick wall up behind the door out of paranoia.

Hmm… I'll have to think of something. I am tempted to reveal some ridiculous method of getting in. Maybe a secret dance?

I have a Gibbs. He is a pirate. He could steal things. Any volunteers?

That sounds wonderful and I think Gibbs and Moist will be an interesting team.

Not that I want Gibbs to steal it, but where is a certain locked box with a certain body part being kept right now?

It IS, but I was wondering if she was keeping it in Milliways because of all the pirates.

I never thought about that. Sounds like a question for Heater. Or maybe Bing, since Raph might have been involved with heart-box security along the way.

If you have a thing that gets stolen,

and you report it to Security,

I think the best result would be a counter-stealing.

THIEF WARS.

Mel would sulk for ages if people started stealing and she couldn't join in.

Does it stay unlocked? Like, say, something unlocks/unfastens/unties when the magic goes of, and owner relocks/refastens/reties, does it immediately revert to the unlocked state?

I ask because, arguably, shoelaces, zippers, and buttons all count as "locks" for a broad enough definition, and there is this well-known tenet of comedy that involves people's pants falling down around their ankles at inappropriate time. Plus, there's that whole "No Nudity" rule, if anyone chooses that particular day to go commando. (To say nothing of the fact that bra hooks could also be seen as "locks." You know, because I'm 42 years of age, going on 12.)
