Weekend Entertainment

Just finished the first episode of the Walking Dead game that's on XBL Marketplace. Hella good so far, and the inspiration for the weekend's DE:

Your pup's canon is now a point-and-click adventure game. How different is it from its original format? What aspects of it need changing to suit this new format, if any? Assuming a fourth-wall breakdown, how does your pup react?

(Oh, and my finals are done for the quarter. SPRING BREAK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Really, it'll just consist of me sleeping in and not making my bed for a week.)

Well... there is absolutely nothing about Felix's or Kain's canons that couldn't be rendered as point-and-click. I'm not sure how well the RPG tropes would work as part of an adventure game, though probably it'd be less battles, random or otherwise, and more puzzles.

... Golden Sun by Sierra Entertainment. Someone fund this.

I don't think I have brain yet to figure out My Little Pony: Adventure Is Magic. Someone else can give it a go.

Homestuck already moonlights as one, and Fallen London is basically a text adventure game that's lightly sprinkled with illustrations and doesn't use a command-line interface. So, er, it'd be more visual?

To answer the question, I don't think any of mine would change much as a point-and-click - a fair number of them have gone that route already, or are in the process of (dude, why can't they make the DW game on Wii platform, boo).

Oswin's introductory story sort of felt like a "Locked Room" flash game, from her perspective. That's sort of a point-and-click.

... Warehouse 13 as a point-and-click would be BLOODY AWFUL HARD.

Worse, though, and possibly more hilarious would be a very old-school text RPG.

retrieve Joshua

You cannot do that. You have lost half of your HP.

equip Artie

Now you can retrieve Joshua.

I would fucking LOVE to see Telltale Games make a Warehouse 13 game. :D

It would be awesome. I'd get it.

But I still maintain it would be bloody awful hard. :/

Actually...not that different, haha. Dodge fires, save people, collect booze, avoid crazy girlfriends, pursue wife, interact with own children for special bonuses.

Wait. Nevermind. Recent updates, duh.

A      : "What the hell guys, you put keybinds in the game a few months ago. I thought we advanced past just point and click."
dev 1: "Just a bit. The game was still point and click at the core."
dev 2: "But the player base hated it. We had to roll the game back."
dev 1: "Our only back up that worked was from 2007, sorry."

I'm still considering an answer for this, but I have to say:

OMG I LOVE THAT GAME WITH A BURNING IT WILL RIP YOUR SOUL OUT.

It seriously made me cry like multiple times over the course of the game. And I have to ask - Doug or Carley?

*snort* My first time through I had to pick Doug because... really... he can figure out putting batteries in the radio.

*snort* Not literally as stupid game mechanics say Lee needs to fumble with the thing - but he'd have figured it out without help! (In a sort of meta way...)

The one on the floor took me ages to find - and I'm familiar with Telltale's usual hiding places.

You'll love episode 2, really the whole game is *great*. It's like playing a movie.

Villains By Necessity would make a freaking awesome video game. Possibly somewhat in the style of Final Fantasy X, at least in terms of not really being able to re-explore areas - but that format would give space for the whole story. I'm not sure how it'd work for point-and-click.

If there's not a Percy Jackson video game, I'm surprised.

Discworld would have to be a fairly open-world concept game to be done properly, I think. It'd also make for a bloody hard (if awesome) text-based game, but I think it'd work best as an MMO.

Harry Potter is a video game, and then it's a Lego video game to boot. Something about the Marauders would be interesting, I do know that.

Once Upon a Time... well, the Enchanted Forest would be a good setting. I'm less sold on Storybrooke, because how exactly do you keep interest while the curse is still in full effect?

I know there are Robin Hood hidden object games so there must be a point and click one somewhere and it would work well.

Same for X-Men, there's everything for the X-Men.

Abhorsen Chronicles would work as one too since its basically a quest story.

I love the idea of a Discworld MMO, I would play that.

Jane's story would work better as a text only one or possibly a dating sim with all the Regency society rules in it and it would be hard to win.

3:10 to Yuma would work since the basic story is get outlaw on the train.

Narnia would also work fairly well though you would get different parts of the story depending on which Pevensie you played and you could go between them.

The Pirates of Penzance with Frederic as the character could work, but it would be hard to win.

There's actually a point-and-click java game for Reno. Bullets would shoot and everyone would die.

Psych is now the Jules and Lassie are badasses game. Shawn and Gus invest in bulletproof vests.

My Little Pony: See that gif of Pinkie using Twilight as a gun. That is life now.

Brisco might lose some of its sci-fi points. But gatling guns for all!
