plot proposal: Theme Songs!

So Quinn and I have been plotting, and we’d like to offer y’all a little opt-in bar-wide fun. Basically, you can give your character(s) a theme song (or several, if you want!) for a couple weeks.

The basics: At the beginning of the plot, Claudia will come in from the Warehouse, unknowingly with Leopold Stokowski’s baton from conducting Fantasia in tow. What it does is give everyone a theme song. It starts slowly, just a snatch of music here or there, but by the end of the plot just about anything you want could have a theme song – couples, siblings, training montages, the trilobite tank, you name it.

We’re not going to tell anyone what song(s) they should choose, or even enforce linking to them for people to listen. And as ever with bar-wide plots, this is strictly opt-in; your character can miss the madness entirely or just boggle at everyone else, if you’d like.

We see this as about a two-week thing, as Claudia won’t know what she did at first and then it’ll take her a while to fix it.

How do I get involved, you ask? Easy! Once the baton escapes from Claudia’s bag, it’s going to be rolling around the bar for a while (let’s say the first two or three days of the plot, which can of course be Millitimed to suit); all your character has to do is touch it. It works best if you pick it up and set it down somewhere else, but Milliways does have a way of amplifying things; you can just as easily say it rolled around and bumped your character’s foot.

We'd like to run this mid-to-late April, so as to keep away from April Fools' and Cubefall. It doesn't require sign-ups, since this is pretty freeform.

I'm not entirely serious, but Felix is getting a canonmate next month, and for the last couple of days Brain's been bugging me to whitetext a particular song when they meet up, whenever he gets all through the Around the Worlds thing. And late April's about the right range of moon phases, too...

What shape would the theme songs take IC-ly? Would other charries be able to hear them?

Other characters would be able to hear them, yes. The volume gets louder as it goes on, and you're not limited to one theme per character/relationship/trilobite tank.
Within a conversation, the competing themes would share space, probably depending on who's talking, what they're talking about (if that's something that has a theme), whether the relationship in the thread merits its own music, that kind of thing.

QUick question, do you have an opinion of if the pup the theme is for hears the song?

I'm going with yes, here. They don't have to have the slightest idea of what it's for, of course.

Generally, when there's an area-of-effect artifact, the person who is being affected by the artifact knows that there's something going on. So, more than likely they'd hear the song, along with whomever they're talking to.

Actually, I'm thinking that perhaps we'll put up a 'planning' post closer to the time that will have a bit more coordination, and definitely some song-fishing. (I need a couple for myself, actually.)However, yes, song-fishing has crossed our hivemind.
