Daily Entertainment: The Slightly Early Edition

Question supplied by [personal profile] tlvop:

What would other characters in Milliways be most surprised to learn about your character?

[personal profile] fantasticfireferret 2013-05-20 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, let's see:

- Voodoo can cook

- John is a mostly self-taught reader versed in the philosophy of Rousseau and Locke

- and Mako is a virgin.

Hm, this is interesting but hard for some of mine. They tend to be pretty open.

Both of Will's parents are alive and living in Nottingham.

Charles doesn't like being alone, this one maybe obvious but its not something he articulates a lot.

Sameth knows how to use a sword and is dangerous with it, his focus is more on his magic, so I think this can be forgotten.

Moist does know how to defend himself especially against vampires and werewolves, he would just rather avoid the fight.

William has a hard time imagining a future where he's not a rancher, he knows they might exist but he's gotten so used to his present, he can't imagine something else.

I can't think of anything for Jane, Demeter, Tumnus or the Pirate King.

Knox is Jewish (OK, an open secret with his closest friends but something he rarely mentions otherwise).

Gibbs speaks some Spanish and French and a smidge of Latin.

Cyborg sang in a church choir as a boy.

Howard hates the smell of gasoline, which might be connected to his dislike of his dad the Ford executive. Or not.

Felix is excessively bad at projectiles. By which I mean that, unless he's using his earth powers to propel rocks (in which case he's quite likely to hit dead-on), he can occasionally hit the broad side of a barn... if he's standing inside the barn in question.

Fluttershy shouted down a dragon once. I admit, there are a few others in Milliways who know about that, but that's because they were there.

Joshua was in a couple plays in highschool/college. He loves debate and theater, and there's a part of him that wishes he could do more of it.

Helena, as she's told all of one person so far, is actually HG Wells. Otherwise, I think most Milli-characters would be surprised that she has a daughter. She hasn't talked about Christina yet.

Orion had a huge crush on his Hogwarts roommate. Still does. Not even his sons know.

Gordon did downhill mountain bike racing for years and would get into it again in a heartbeat if he could

Shephard sings baritone in the Rowlesburg church choir (no, really)

Medic regularly receives packages of baked goods from his grandmama and shares them with everybody else on the BLU team

Varric writes romance novels, although since his two-fisted crime tales sell pretty well he hasn't really bothered publishing the romances to any great degree yet

Ray not only survived two separate encounters with a Hound of Tindalos, but named the Hound in question 'Bingle'

Mordin performs in community theater, particularly Gilbert and Sullivan (although this would not surprise anybody who has played his canon)

Santo is close personal friends with several theoretical physicists and other technological geniuses despite being a professional wrestler

Ellen has never used a telephone

Ben, believe it or not, holds several advanced degrees. This is canon though they never state what fields the degrees are in. I've decided it's at least Aviation and Mechanical Engineering since he was a test pilot and heading on track to become an astronaut.

Andrea *loves* pirate themed romance novels.

That's all I've for now.

Oswin: .... HAHAHAHAH um. Oh dear. Yes. ALL OF THAT. >.<

Katya: Just how hard she fails at being human. She actually reins it in pretty hard when she's in-bar. For most people. Scaring Doc has become a thing.

Ace: ... maybe the wolf of Fenric thing, it was only brought up once waaaaaaaaaaaay back when she first came in and it's kinda gotten swamped by other problems.

Actually, the rest of mine are fairly open books. Haymitch has never made any attempts at hiding who and what he is, Glor... is Glor, and has been Glor quite obviously in-bar, Bones has no big secrets, and Balthazar is pretty much what it says on the tin. Maybe people would be surprised to learn he carries his girlfriend around in a doll? >.< IDK.

Katya has trained William enough that he finds her not being humanness just her.

Under the ego and snark, Autor actually shares a lot of the characteristics of a neglected child, including a massive inferiority complex.

Wait, that's not even remotely surprising. This is headcanon, but I suspect people have called him 'crazy' for most of his life. He's super sensitive about that sort of thing, and hence doesn't share much.

Raph can knit.

Mike can run in six-inch stilettos.

Splinter loves the Speed Racer cartoon. Loves it, always has.

Aang plays a mean tsungi horn.

Bumi loves romance novels and gossip rags.

The Loompas...I honestly can't think of anything anyone would be surprised about with regards to the Loompas.

Ida doesn't have to look like a middle-aged librarian, she chooses to.

I honestly can't think of anything anyone would be surprised about with regards to the Loompas.

One or more of them is in fact a member of some organization on the order of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty/Big Brothers Big Sisters/Bikes Not Bombs, perhaps.

I have to say, I'm not quite sure how people perceive my characters IC, so I'm not sure what other characters would necessarily find most surprising about them.

For Alfred, though, I suspect it's the fact that he can swear like a soldier when he wants to, or that he is a complete troll (in the internet sense, not the homestuck or otherwise sense). At appropriate moments, of course.

Not sure about Tommy. Maybe that he has a really thoughtful way with the written word when he puts his mind to it. Or that he was afraid of heights as a child. Or that he was a choirboy.

Clem knows how to Hula dance and is an accomplished tap dancer.

Dixie can cook!

Jules is an uber-competitive dancer.

Pinkie is an open book pretty much?
