22 days left until my last final of the quarter. 11 of those are instruction days.

I am faking it harder than anyone has ever faked it in the history of faking. Ever.

Okay, I still need to file a couple retroactive drops and make sure my double major application goes through, but still. Faking it.

Your character just received an envelope. Whatever it is, the idea of opening it fills them with dread. What is it? And what happens when they open it?

No more... wait, it's just me that's finished exams, not everyone ever.

But, Whoo! I have finished exams.

Hrm.

Bean lives in a time when physical mail is practically dead, so this doesn't really work for him. And he never leaves a physical address for things to be sent to anyway.

In a few years, Max's would simply be the fact that it's a personal letter... any personal letter. The fact that someone knows where to send a letter to get it to Max Epper, would be bad enough.

Erik, I'm falling flat on. Same with Alfred.

Jack, though, is actually going to get one of these. No, I'm not going to tell you what's in it. Or what happens when he opens it. Because SPOILERS. A little while after that, he enters the same position I described above for Max.

This doesn't really work for Will at least not something from his world.

I can't think of anything at this moment in time for Charles, no that's not true, something from a part of the government who's investigating him. That would make him nervous on many levels.

For Moist, it would be from any of the many city watches going we'd like to talk to you but they wouldn't send a letter as much as a person.

With William, it would be coming from Hollander or someone connected to him and be a threat.

Jane, at this point in canon, a letter from Tom and the dread would be a mix of hope and fear.

Sameth would be a letter at Bar from Kait with like Jane a mix of hope and fear.

Demeter, I can't think of anything as she's usually what people dread.

I can't think of anything for Tumnus or the Pirate King.

Joshua, it would be an envelope with this symbol on it. He'd be absolutely certain that something happened to Claudia. What it actually is... who knows.

Helena where I currently have her... I don't actually know if she'd dread anything. She's pretty level (ahahahaha, oh my girl, you won't be for long.) Future!Helena would probably dread the same symbol as Joshua.

The return address is from Yancy Street and he is right, the letter is from the Yancy Street Gang. It explodes in a cloud of glitter and super glue and for the next few days he is the Ever Loving Glitter Thing.

Or alternately, the letter if from the Yancy Street Chamber of Commerce and they want to give him an award for all his work to improve the neighborhood. This of course involves a very public ceremony and he would have prefered the letter had come from the YSG after all.

For Hank, the letter is from home and he has a moment of panic that it is news his father's cancer is worsening. (I have a head canon I haven't fleshed out that McCoy senior was at Nagasaki post bomb to help survivors or perhaps him being involved in atomic testing makes more sense. I'm not too clear on when American soldiers could have been on Japan post bombing. Quick look at Wikipedia suggests it was possible. I will have to research it further later.)

The letter is just a friendly catch up and of course has been opened and screened by the CIA.

Re: Headcanon... Hiroshima was hit August 6th, 1945. Wiki says that the first American journalist was allowed access September 2nd, the day of the formal surrender ceremony, so I'd have to assume almost immediately.

I'll have to ask my grandfather. He flew air raids around that time, and returned to rebuild "as soon as he could."

Oh that would be great, thank you!

I know in the comics, Hank's dad got radiation exposure from a nuclear power plant mishap but with the time frame of the movies, exposure to radiation following a nuclear blast makes more sense to me.

A letter from the IRS. That would do it for Knox and for Howard.

That would do it for Ben too. I wonder if the IRS has even gone after Steve Rogers for unpaid taxes during his frozen years?

I seem to recall that either during the Gruenwald era or Waid's run, the opposite occurred and Steve was suddenly paid years of back pay. Which is how I think he can afford that really nice place in Brooklyn.

Ah ha hah, this might be Erik's sometime when Taxes come calling. How do you put 'super secret government branch' down as one of your employers?

If it isn't being routed through the DoD or a defense contractor they probably have a front as part of some huge other bureaucracy. Once upon a time I would have picked the phone company.

Or a little more honestly...

Source of Income: 'Consulting'

"Dr. Selvig, did you have to fill out the form with quotes around your employment?"

"...Probably not, no."

Eh Heh heh. TRUTH! :D

Edit now I think about it. DARPA.

Also, Project PEGASUS is canonically on a NASA base, so, there would be options.

For Mike and Raph it'd have to be the envelope containing Splinter's last will and testament, which they'd know on sight not because they've seen it before...but because it looks exactly like they'd imagined it would.

Aang's is a telegram delivered and left on his desk by an Acolyte. From a distance he knows it's from the Fire Nation, but it's not until he gets closer that he realizes it's written in Zuko's handwriting.

Inside it's an official invitation to the memorial service for General Iroh.

Bumi gets two, because I had two great ideas.

1) He's at the helm of the flagship Omashu when his Chief Communications officer hands him the telegram. He's already thinking why telegram? Why not radio? as he rips open the confidential seal.

MARBLE THREE DID NOT MAKE RENDEZVOUS STOP
HOLD POSITION STOP

Bumi pales, his attention turning to the view of Republic City that lay in the distance.

2) He returns to his room on Air Temple island to find a crisp looking letter sitting on his bedside table. He pauses in the doorway, as if he expects the paper to suddenly burst into flames or explode in some way.

It's official Republic City Hospital letterhead.

He swallows hard, steels his resolve, and approaches as if it might bite. When he finally opens the envelope and unfolds its contents, the words PATERNITY TEST RESULTS are kind of hard to miss.

Ida's letter will really be in the form of an inter-office Middle Memo from O2STK. And she'll know the minute she sees that particular inter-office Middle Memo that she'll be stuck with the hop-head forever.
