She's a brill character. I would argue that everyone's life pretty much got fucked over, or they threw it away, but Hugo was making a point. Fantine definitely got an exceptionally harsh deal, though.

Oh, the entire story's about getting fucked over. (Totally Fucked from Spring Awakening is completely appropriate here.) Still one of my favourites.

Now I'm imagining Enjolras on top of the barricade waving a flag, and on one side you have all of the 'fuck the system' characters with him, and on the other all of the vaguely law enforcement characters and the characters who support the status quo (and because this is Milliways, a few people running around being chaotic) just throwing water balloons at each other. FOR MILLIWAAAAAAAAAYS! *cough*

Javert immediately wants to lob a water balloon RIGHT IN ENJY'S FACE. It might even make him laugh. Particularly if he happened to be in mid-speechify at the time. And then he'd chuck one at Cosette, who would probably be making moony eyes at Marius. And then get punched in the face by Valjean.

I present my semi-active resurrected teenage Gavroche. Who is currently avoiding the infirmary at all costs because there was that whole barricades incident he was directly responsible for and he isn't sure how Javert will react.

(Having finally seen the movie, I now really want a Courfeyrac because his flipping out before Gavroche dies and breaking down after made me cry. Again.)

Dude, I don't even know how Javert will react. Mainly because I am on the fence as to whether to play movie canon for the medal-giving, or book canon and leave it out. As for the actual denouncement by Gavroche....ahaha. Well. He would rather he hadn't done it? So I can't imagine him being all that pleased with him if they meet (please say they can meet!), but he's not happy he got killed either.

In conclusion: Javert has no idea about anything. My vote is to chuck them together and see what happens. Question though - will Gavroche recognise him with this face? Do we assume they're from the same 'verse? I'm good with whatever, because every canon is similar enough. And I'm mixing them for Javert anyway. /rambling

They absolutely can meet! When Javert's in a slightly better mental place.

As for canons, I've always gone with Gavroche being principally from the musical but used details from the book that the musical glossed over, like him being a Thenardier. Since the 2012 film is a very faithful adaptation of the musical, I'm good with them being from the same verse.

Excellent! And - EXCELLENT. EEE, this'll be fun. :DDD I'm expecting a big double-take, and lots of 'bzuh' from J when he sees Gavroche - but hey, this is Purgatory as far as he's concerned, and the kid definitely earned some time there, so...yeah. \o/

J will probably make it into the bar tomorrow, or the day after. He will still not be in a good state, and it'll get worse when he sees the observation window. So it might be better to hold off on their meeting for a little bit, yeah. Doesn't have to be too long! I'm looking forward to it too much. :DDD
