Weekend DE: A little light reading

What's the most research you've done for a pup you haven't really played? Not here, not in sandboxes, not in other formats.

For example, I have textbook on art history I am slowly working my way through for a pup I will probably never app.

The best I can think of for this topic was Palamedes. I had wanted to do his culture and time respect and so read Eyewitness books, mostly on Knights, Mesopotamia and the Crusades, as well as several non-fiction books on King Arthur. I know, totally light research but I wanted to get my head around the basics before taking on the deeper story. This ended up being too much though as the character I had developed was nothing like the canon from which he came from.

And just to be clear, I don't regret the research. I just wish the author had done something similar so I didn't end up with a head voice that clashed with the canon.

And since I didn't quite answer the question right, a bonus round. I had been thinking of another pup from Palamedes' canon who goes by the name of Niten, who also just happens to be an immortal Miyamoto Musashi. Like Palamedes, I had started reading children's encyclopedias about samurai and the Edo period of Japan's history as well as reading everything on Wikipedia but I guess I got pup shy after Palamedes.
