The next time, he was trying his best to keep his patience in the waiting room by meditating when she came in and sat beside him, looking for all intents and purposes as if she were meditating as well. Her scent kept calling to him and his peace was interrupted with wondering what her skin would feel like. Or perhaps even taste like.
The third time they met was after returning from his near death during the Stark Hyperspace War and he was trying his best to hide his tears on the Temple's roof. She came upon him and didn't say a word as she pulled him into an embrace and let him cry out his fears. Eventually he became aware of her warmth pressed against him and pulled away.
"I am sorry padawan. My feelings have gotten away from me," he said, bowing is shame. He should be striving for peace of mind not lost in his fears.
She grabbed his hand and held it to her cheek, causing a rush of excitement. "'There is no emotion, only peace'?" She said, quoting the Jedi Code before shaking her head. "I don't understand that. How are we to trust our feelings if we don't embrace them?"
"I...I don't know either. Perhaps, that is one of the mysteries we must discover for ourselves," he replied nervously. He felt rooted to the spot and yet floating at the same time; his entire existence in the palm of the hand she held against her cheek. She looked up at him and leaned forward then, her lips parting as if she were breathing him in.
Three days later Master Thome returned to the Temple to collect Quinlan. With one look at his padawan, he said, "I see you have found comfort after your ordeals. This is good."
Blushing furiously, Quin opened his mouth in defense but his master quickly continued. "Quin, the relationships we have with others are part of the Force and strength it. As long as neither are harmed or become too attached, all is well. Attachments are part of life yes but a jedi must be self-reliant and impartial. Remember this."
"Yes Master."
