DE: Everyday I'm a trolling
Good morning Milliways! Today's topic comes from
minkhollow :
T-Minus names! How'd you pick them? Do you need help coming up with one? Do you have a character who's avoiding it? Do you side-eye the idea yourself?

Helena... I have no bloody clue. She's been avoiding it mostly because I don't know what name to give her. I'd like it to follow the repositorySomething that Claud and Joshua have, but I don't know. I have a color for her, though.
Valentine has fawkesianPundit because, well, it's hella meta. Pundit, ok. Fawkesian... as in Guy Fawkes masks, as in Anonymous? Get it? Ok. It's terrible, I know. I'm trying to come up with a good symbol for her, as well. Nothing's coming.
Fantine really doesn't have anyone to talk to, so she doesn't have one and probably won't.

Gordon's, crowbarAnticitizen, meets the DNA letter standards for trolls and most of the humans in Homestuck. It was chosen to mark Gordon's weapon of choice, the fact that he was denounced as Anticitizen One in two separate universes (his own and the Marvel 1602verse's future, where he, Rojhaz, and Sir Nicholas Fury managed to piss off the Purple Man's dystopian government rather nicely in a series of OOMs). The color is his suit's orange.
Ellen's, vicarialVisitor, as an indication of her traveling status- she is, canonically, the Lone Wanderer- and of her status as a member of the clergy- she's a Brotherhood of Steel chaplain, after all. Not exactly a vicar in the Church of England sense, but close enough, and anyway when one acts as a representative of a larger organization (which she often does), one is acting vicariously. The colors are Vault-Tec gold for text and Vault-Tec blue for background because yellow or gold text on a white background is hard to read.
Fawkes, who is no longer in the Bar but has a T-Minus handset, is eloquentAdam because he's an extremely well-spoken mutant, and because one of the derogatory nicknames for the supermutants in the Capital Waste is 'Frankensteins', and Frankenstein's monster refers to himself as "the Adam of your labours" when addressing his creator. The color is indicative of his skin color.
And Shephard's was originally tiwazRotorhead and then became tiwazRegulator. The original was an indicator of his status as a helicopter pilot, however unwilling; the T-Minus system changed it on him after he lost his right hand, since one can't really pilot a helicopter with only one hand, and anyway tiwaz is the rune of Tyr, the one-handed god of war and treaties and law- hence, Regulator. Also, his font is color 660C2A because that's Tyrian purple. There is no connection between Norse Tyr and Tyrian purple, the color is named after the city of Tyre, but it does make for a nice stupid pun- as does the fact that the Tyrians were Phoenicians, which is thisclose to Phoenix, which is the bird Shephard intends to use to replace the eagle in the eagle, globe and anchor symbol of the revived Marine Corps.
Worth noting also that while the trolls he knows in Bar have generally indicated that they think Shephard is a troll in inconveniently human form, the one time Bar gave him a trollish shape option for Cubefall, his blood color did not come out in Tyrian purple but in ultramarine.

You can't see it, but I am twitching from the pun here.

(Also because it's basically the color of the Corps dress blue uniform. But mostly because of the twitch-inducing punnery.)

The others totally don't have one, but Sherral is the type to get one, so, suggestions, if anyone has any?

mnemoPhagocyte is Amascut because she noms on memories. Souls, too, but mnemo sounds like nomnomnom. I think she is one of those folks who is always online but never responds, since she modded her device to hell and back and then abandoned it on top of a pile of Green!Jack's apples. Her world already has forms of trans-realm communication, and they have video conferencing!
Evil Chicken never got one.

It's because he's from Aquaria and because he spends the majority of his time navigating by stars or mulling about various topics (hobby: philosophy) under them.
Hoshi's username initials (AS) and the actual character length of the username itself exactly match Felix Gaeta's T-Minus identity initials and character length. This was not an accident. :) I'll leave it up to those who understand Homestuck canon better than I do to explain the nuances of meaning there, if anyone's curious.
On that note, many, many thanks to

I'm totally open for suggestions for T-Minus names for Yrael and Zelgadiss, as I've not really considered them yet. Hmmm.

Val is currently off world in an OOM that I am taking far too long to finish (thank you Enzo mun for your patience). Her handle is quantumBallerina (many thanks to Tyler Marlocke's mun for the name) and her symbol is:
Hank is another who will get one but I feel like he'll need to wait until canon moves away from the CIA as he would see the device as a security risk as well as worry about having to explain it to his superiors if it is discovered. His handle will be loquaciousPolymath and his symbol will be:
And last, but not least, Jessica Drew will be getting on but again, she is in the middle of some plot. I might end up waving my fingers mysteriously and bending time to have her get one despite this just cause. Her handle is aposematicMithridate - aposematic refers to the warning coloration some poisonous animals have (Jess's costume and venom blasts; and she would likely add her apparent bad luck) and mithridate is a semi-mythical remedy for any poison (Jess quickly develops an immunity to any toxin she encounters and she will go to great lengths to protect her friends). Many thanks to Karkat for these awesome suggestions for her name. Her symbol is:

He does not, it may have been noted, use the system all that much. But he's got it in case I feel like it.
Fluttershy is circumspectPsyche, which Gao came up with; I've never gotten details on the process, beyond that Psyche is there as a butterfly reference.
Kain, as far as I can recall, has nothing (which is basically what I said last time this DE came up, four months ago), and I don't really know what name he'd get. Possibly draconicCaeliferan or something along those lines, or maybe something that more closely references his personality.

Alyx's is aadiTelmatologist, which is an overly-fancy Alternian-ish way of saying "Vance Prime."
Vanellope's T-Minus handle, regicideError, is the one I'm most proud of. It's a pun on "registry error," and it describes Vanellope's glitched existence as a result of a botched attempt at assassination-via-source-code.

Claudia: repositoryBadger, because Warehouse and she's just that much of a Hufflepuff.
Apollo: egotisticalMultitasker, because the boy's got a zillion domains and an ego to match.
Red: rufescentLycanthrope, because... red and werewolf? If Ruby ever comes in, she'll be on this idea like white on rice, and her user name will be redactedLibertine, 'redacted' being in reference to Regina's curse stripping everyone's memories and 'libertine' because Ruby's a wild child in a different sense. My idea is that the two would merge after the curse breaks.
And I only noticed after the fact that the initials match her name. XD
Neither Imp nor Regulus would quite know what to do with the things. Sam is dubious because of the handsets' habit of choosing user names for you; he's sure he'd get some kind of reference to his parentage, and that's not really something he wants to advertise. (Though it occurred to me as I typed this comment up that illegitimateProjectile would be a variant he could live with, but he still won't seek it out.)

The rest would poke at it suspiciously.
I think we came up with some possible usernames the last time we had a DE about T-minus, but I dunno, I'm not convinced it's a necessity for any of my pups.
...though as the plot thickens, it might come in handy for Lydia and Stiles, hm...

"It's cheaper than maple?"
'That explains exactly nothing.'
"Look, the more I try to explain, the less sense it's gong to make."

Splinter can barely work the TV.
Both Aang and Bumi haven't been introduced to computers at all.
Mike...Mike has seen the internet, but I haven't gone and gotten him involved with T-Minus yet.
Ida and the Loompas, however, would be all over that, and I'm open to suggestions as to what their names should be.

Moist or Charles might get one but its not happened yet. This is one of those things that I find interesting but haven't felt a great push with it for my pups.

I'm in the same spot but it makes sense that Hank and Val would want one. Jess surprised me in wanting one once she saw Natasha Romanov getting one in a backroom post.

When I finally bring in Henry (once I know what canon's done to the poor boy), he'll want one, but I don't have a username for him; symbol probably ought to be an open book, no idea of colors for either. Again, I'd love ideas.
Tavi and next month's hopeful (Eriond) aren't likely to get one, but I'd like suggestions just-in-case. Ditto for any of my MM regulars.
(In case you can't tell, I'm bad at coming up with them myself).
*Being compulsive, I did come up with T-Minus for general/comics and Man of Steel Lois for use in MM/PFSB. Comics!Lois is daringPress (DP, I couldn't resist) in lavender; symbol lavender on white. MoS!Lois is actionArticles in red (action also referencing Action Comics, AA is ACGT compatible and for Amy Adams and her red hair), symbol probably red on grey because hair and siiiigh dark depressing Goyer-Nolan stuff. The symbol I'd probably carry over from Smallville's.

Coyote doesn't trust the internet at home, much less here. One time having 'accidentally the whole internet' was enough. Ambriel has no need of communication devices. Don doesn't want to use anything he hasn't taken apart and put back together, and it seems sort of...rude to do that to something containing organic tech.
Duo came closest to considering it, because of a cross-universal relationship. But in the end, he decided it wasn't worth the risk to bring weird tech home.

The purple is because purple's awesome, don't lie.

Thurlow went straight for the T-Minus devices because they sounded super useful, but I'm not entirely convinced that they've figured out how to use the thing. They haven't been in much in general, though, maybe they're just too busy. They're incendiaryAcademic, pertaining both to the radical nature of their research and the fact that the Correspondence has an unfortunate tendency to combust both the surface it's written on and any flammable items about the person of its scholars. (Emerald green is their signature colour, but it doesn't have any personal or metaphysical meaning for them.)
