Let's make this official:

Tell us your thoughts and feelings about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Are you considering it canon? Are you writing an app for one of the characters as we speak? Did you hate it?

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS, PEOPLE. DON'T LOOK IF YOU DON'T WANT DETAILS.

Was too busy tonight to see, and probably won't get to see it till the weekend.

But I doubt I will have to worry about its effect on Howard Stark. Though if Joss and Co. read Hickman's short-lived SHIELD series, they could do some interesting flashbacks. More likely, I will be unaffected in the bar unless there really is an Agent Carter series.

It is clearly MCU canon, though. How often can a TV show boast the director of the movie it's spun off from as its director?

I took notes. Just in case. Based on rumor for Avengers 2 and things shown in IM3 (and hinted at in CA leading toward Winter Soldier), I think I spotted 3 clear plot elements that may well make the jump into the films.

I think you're right about the big question, though, because the ones I saw could well be handled by reference in film alone, removing the need to watch the show to be up to speed on the MCU/movie-only. Time will tell.

Yeah, I'm definitely seeing some parallels with AIM, and they even mentioned Extremis by name.

It is meant to be canon, though. But I think it's canon the way the prequel comics are canon. Ignore it at will. I know I certainly ignore some of the prequels.

I loved it and I'm with [personal profile] vivien. I'm hoping the hooded hero hasn't been cured and joins the team, but I fear that is not the case since the team seems to be aimed at humans functioning and being a force in a comic world.

OMG yes. Especially considering the sadness in Hill's expression when she said that he can never know, like it actually pains her to have this knowledge that he doesn't and to have to hide it from him. AUGH WHAT IS THE BIG SECRET?

Haven't seen yet (hi, timezones and hours and work), but just re: canon - as far as Natasha is concerned, her last bit of solid canon is Avengers. Everything else is optional for me until I make a call later (which, hey, if I do go 'things are optional', that just opens up possibilities for AU shenanigans). And my 'later' is....maybe sometime next year? <.< Get a couple movies and see where the show goes first.

So, now I've seen it...

My previous comment re: it actually all being canon as far as Natasha and Milliways is concerned, still applies. That said, I found it FUN, and LIKE THE SHIELD IN MY HEAD, WITH PEOPLE AND GEEKRY AND WHEEEE, and I'm totally stealing what tech I like.

Also Fitz and Simmons are the best team of scientists ever, and I love their interdependent-ness. And Maaaaaaaay, May is great :D

Natasha, if I include the figurines, is going to freak out over hers. But that'll be fun.

(I am also, no lie, tempted to make her allergic to various truth-serums)

...if it's the funny kind of allergy where she overreacts to the serum, I'd love to see that.

Well, it's probably not going to come up, but I wasn't thinking of overreacting, no.

I am being cautious; my last bit of definite canon for Clint and Darcy is Avengers (though depending on how things swing, I suspect I will be incorporating IM3; I may incorporate different bits for the two of them depending on what happens in future installments) -- so far, I'm thinking I'll incorporate tech as it seems convenient, and otherwise try to be as vague as possible. I really hope I can see the whole first season before making any too-certain motions towards canon-ness for RP :/.

ON THE OTHER HAND I really enjoyed it and only having 2 MCU pups already is keeping me from figuring out how to lure someone in to play Fitz to my Simmons. Instead, there will be FIC.

... Eventually.

*raises a hand* Um. A) I wish to steal Lola, sorry Coulson, but I really want that car, even without the spinning rims. B) I may be up to apping a Fitz (or maybe a Simmons, I love them both, so much, that was beautiful). C) How sad am I that now the Avengers officially do not know about Coulson living? D) I want the Nat and Clint figurines seen in the beginning, so much, gimme. E) Yay Extremis! *cough* I mean. F) Lola. C'mon Coulson, I won't even scratch the paint, I promise.

Welllll, officially Coulson was dead in Avengers...

I thought what I heard was Coulson saying that the Avengers weren't Level 7. At no point did he say that they hadn't found out anyway.

[personal profile] leeshajoy 2013-09-25 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, the real reason the Avengers don't know is that the actors who play them would be wayyyyy too expensive for a network TV show budget. Same reason we won't be seeing Fury himself on the show.

Well sure if you want to be Doyalist about it.

On the other hand it does look a little like Coulson put the team together using the SHIELD equivalent of going through the sofa cushions. Which is a nice Watsonian explanation for everyone's quirkiness and issues.

[personal profile] redintheledger 2013-09-25 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't remember. And I don't see the Avengers as a hivemind, either, so some might know, others might not. But there's def wriggle room.

If anyone knows, I'd put money on it being Tony. And maybe Steve, though both through two totally different means.

[personal profile] redintheledger 2013-09-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahhah, and you just put your money on some of them I - for general canon, not Milliways - would say wouldn't know.

Canon: yes.

The show: had me kicking my heels in delight. COULSON. BADASS LADIES. FITZ AND SIMMONS. But I think what I like best is that we're seeing something similar to Iron Man 3: the human side of living in a superhero world. I love that.

Probably won't be apping anyone since my roster is pretty full, but I am so happy this show exists.

[personal profile] loki_of_sassgaard 2013-09-25 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved it to pieces, and will definitely try to catch it next week again (I'm terrible at appointment television, though).

And man, Coulson actually got a bit scary there toward the end. I always knew the guy was capable of a mean bite, but yeesh, there's that lurking PTSD we all knew would be there somewhere.

Not apping anyone, because my Marvel headspace is pretty full with the stuff I'm doing with AU!Loki's canon.

Also, EEEE Thor 2 trailer! I cannot wait. Who's going to the midnight showing?
