I officially got everything I need to finish my Halloween costume today. That's not Milliways-related, but I felt like sharing anyway, because some of the pieces were stupidly hard to find.
This week, Bethan and I finished our plot! Black Widow Strikes, done Milliways-style. Nearly all of the posts can be found via Natasha's tag (except for Clint's reaction post early on, here), and thank you SO MUCH to everyone who played along (Bethan, Fury-mun, TL), and everyone who read. ♥
And plot done (although the fallout is going to continue), I finally EPed modern!Nat! \o/ (shh, this is exciting). Highlights so far are the Oswin-Nat thread, and the X-Nat thread (ahhhhh, LADIES), but I'm having fun with all of them.
I still haven't done too much in the way of RP, BUT that is mostly because I passed the second round of roller derby cuts and began skating with the league on a provisional basis this week. :D :D :D In a few more weeks, they'll make their final decisions wrt who gets drafted and who doesn't. I AM SO CLOSE.
I'm coming home today from my first non-Banfield-only veterinary conference - omg, now I know so many new things, it's ridiculous, how did I not know these things before?
Also, I'm duly impressed that they found, like, the one hotel ever that has NO good food within a good 1-2 miles on the weekends. There's the hotel diner, but I'd hardly call that place good. :(
In RL, I have come through my first full week of dealing with customers hands-on, and have not only survived, but am getting the hang of it. One thing I am learning is that you must deal with the rhinoceroses in the room head-on, or they will headbutt you with added horn a little bit down the road. I think I made a colleague quite unhappy for a moment there, but it was necessary, as what he was doing was completely derailing me. So he got the Reasons You Suck speech, and then he was very contrite and tried to be terribly helpful... I count that as a victory, as he stopped doing what was annoying me.
For entertainment, I have been simul-watching some episodes of Hannibal with Saph and Cass, which was an awesome thing. Enjoying canon with added ongoing discussion is great fun. Additionally, I continued falling up the escalator of the Les Mis fandom: I finally picked the recording of the musical to carry around on my iThinggies (Complete Symphonic), read tons of fanfic, carried on with the Brick, and ordered a non-musical movie version.
Oooh, which movie did you get? I keep hearing hilarious things about the 1998 version, which alternately makes me dread it, and know it is unavoidable that I watch it.
If it's the '78 one - watch out for the gayest Javert you will ever see. Perkins is hilarious, and quite brilliant.
It's the 98 version with Liam Neeson as Valjean and Geoffrey Rush as Javert -- I liked the slightly bizarre idea of 'Barbossa as Javert'... It is set to arrive tomorrow; then, I can tell you more.
Also, I pre-ordered a 2 DVD set of some loooooooong French version with Depardieu. I do hope somebody else plays younger Valjean, though, as Depardieu as angry young(-ish) galley slave would stretch my suspension of disbelief to breaking point, I'm afraid.
The Liam Neeson version is what got me hooked on the story 15 years ago. Watched it, loved it to pieces, immediately picked up the unabridged book, read it in three weeks, grabbed the Broadway musical soundtrack, and have since seen the production twice (once in NY and once in Boston). So I will forever be very, very fond of the '98 movie. It's just a bonus that it was in the "bargain bin" years ago when I added it to my collection. ;)
It failed to arrive yesterday, so it will most likely arrive today. I think I will most likely manage to watch it before my simul-watching appointment with Cass and Saph later tonight, when we will see and runningly comment on the last two episodes of 'Hannibal'. I definitely will report back about that movie! The mere idea of Geoffrey Rush as Javert seems extremely intriguing...
In other unrelated news: the world out there is randomly bizarre, so there was Loki on my tram when I went in to work today. Sometimes, you don't even need Milliways for the weirdness.-
I tweeted you, but I think some other people looking at this might want to see as well, so here is the link again to my running commentary of general WTF on my mun journal.-
RP-wise, my brain's been full of jello because of work.
Work is kicking my patootie because I'm currently two clerks, the chair of a working group, and working on a super-secret project at work that the five of us are calling Fight Club. (You do not talk about Fight Club)
It's mostly Fight Club that's kicking my ass. Depressing project, yo.

Well, ongoing but it is the only RP thing I have done: Amascut lets Margolotta pet her on the head. From Maru's recent game post on MM: Kids!
Go tag in with your own pups as kids! Do it now!
Otherwise I have been busy feeding the tears of a dead god to the lord of chaos for ten weeks now but that should wrap up today. :P

In RP news, Teja hired Javert as forge helper and to help with filing in Security (which latter fact reduced Melaka Fray to several minutes of helpless laughter), and on the next morning, started started putting him to work. (Second thread still ongoing.)
