Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you're all as excited for the weekend as I am. (Or at least excited for the next three days if you don't have a weekend per se.)

In honor of #ficfriday, I'm just going to throw out an oldie but goodie.

Song Prompts! Post in with your characters, and other muns can comment, either with a specific lyric, or something from a playlist on shuffle. Write a short (whatever you deem to be short, probably 2-5 sentance) fic based on the lyric.

Joshua only remembered a few times that his father actually yelled at him. After almost killing Claudia with his crackpot proton pack idea, he realized that he probably deserved it.

However, sitting on his bed, staring at the remnants of something that really possibly should not have done what it just did, in a room that smelled of black smoke and burned plastic, he wondered for possibly the first time what the hell he was actually doing with his life. Reaching over, he picked up the paper-wrapped joint that his father had left on his bedside table. Might as well start, considering it was an option. Best option to forget right now.

She'd never been an addictive person. The one time she tried opium, it left her sick to her stomach the next morning, and the thought of injecting herself with something was fairly disgusting.

However, the pain and, dare she say, thrill that came from her anger and her dogged determination to find a way to get Christina back, that was something that she almost craved.

He'd always loved teleportation as a theory, and he'd always played around with ideas about exactly how he could go about it, but there was something in Reynolds' manners that sparked that passion into a fire.

When he called Joshua into his office to show him the compass he'd been reading about for months, it was a sign. It had to be. In that moment, a grin crossed his face. He was going to teleport come hell or high water.

She was sick and tired of Artie and his constant watching of her. There was nothing she could do anymore to prove to him that she wasn't actually bad, just... what was that phrase Pete said? Painted that way?

She had changed, she knew that. Joshua knew that. She wasn't going to track down the rest of the Trident, let alone use it. Helena just wished that Artie would see that.

He was beautiful, brilliant, and above all, caring. Or at least she thought he was. The summer she spent with him were the best moments of her life. When he left her, she was devastated. However, on the cold nights when she was just barely above begging for a few coins for a crust of bread, sometime she would smile, warm memories caressing her, and she felt warm. Just for a moment.

Hunting down the asshole who'd stolen the stele from the bronzer was difficult, but between Joshua's knowledge of science, and Helena's historical understandings, they found his lab.

A short look passed between them, and Helena kicked down the door and pulled out a gun. Joshua pulled his Tesla out and shot the man before he could even look up.

Ten minutes later, they had tied him up, and grabbed the stele. Even as bad as the entire situation was, neither of them had ever felt so alive.
