So, I have Kirk in the bar de-aged. To his prime. Which will probably be the only time I ever play him as the dashing young captain.

Thus, if you have any female pups who are not currently kids, feel free to tag. Or to just shake your head at his ego.

This was mostly a Teja kind of week:

• Teja met Jean Valjean, trusted him immediately (enough to tell him something he hadn't told anybody else) but announced that he would have to tell Javert about Valjean's arrival.
  
• Which he did then, after telling him that Dracula had left; on hearing about Valjean's presence, Javert immediately fled.
  
• Teja wanted answers about the strange behaviour of his new (and hitherto quite useful) assistant, and worried what that entire influx from 1832 was all about, so he went and got himself some explanations from Valjean and Gavroche, which is basically tragic!Ostrogoth trying to wrap his head around the entirety of Les Misérables in 158 tags, so watch out for a) spoilers and b) massive confusion.
  
• Then he went with Carlotta to a party at her circus to unwind his poor brain from all the Les Mis, and talked to Guppy about Javert (both threads still in progress due to Charss being on nights again). Carlotta has no idea, and likely never will, what heaping amount of Goth!drama and estrangement Valjean unwittingly saved her from.

Apart from that I wrote and posted a ficlet on AO3 about Hannibal playing chess with Dracula, and remembering the first time he ever went to Paris. I needed to put some ideas about Hannibal's backstory fixed somewhere for the sake of the de-aging plot, plus wanted a reason to add to a certain strange pairing tag on AO3 (there is another fic on that tag that has nothing to do with Milliways, how extremely intriguing!!), so that was the result.

Now, an irregular character endorsement and shout-out out of season (with bonus quote):

Jean Valjean is a genuinely good person, and has a mixture of intuition and compassion that produces astonishing results. I didn't plan to have Teja tell him about breaking up with Pyrrha, and that at their first meeting! The other threads are similar (Sunshine telling him about her world, William Evans about the myriad of worries at home), and to everybody, he is extremely helpful. Valjean is genuinely the best at helping, the polar opposite of Hannibal at that point, and if you haven't read all his threads yet, do so; and if you get a chance of letting your character thread with him, grab it and just see what perspires. A bit of a quote from Teja's second thread with him as an example:

(Teja) "No," Teja says, "and I can again not thank you enough for what you did tell me; now all of you people of 1832 are less of a worrisome mystery, more of a tale that I can help unravel if needed, for whatever reason you were all brought here."

Pause

"I hope to speak to you again at some time," Teja says finally, " and, at last, not just take and take and take of your understanding, your secrets, your patience. I would play music for you then, if you so wish."

(Valjean) 'I enjoy music. If you play, I would not refuse. And of course, I will be happy to speak to you at any time.'

He stands then, and straightens his waistcoat. A bow, and he turns to leave.

And then, turns back.

'We all just people, you know. All of us from 1832. There is no need to fear us.'

(Teja) "Thank you," Teja says. "For reminding me. This is Milliways. Even those that are not, technically, people, are people here: - vampires and were-wolves and gods, and candy-coloured unicorns. Yes, you are people, all of you, and I very much see that. People I have come to truly care about, in the short time that I have known more than Gavroche."

(Valjean) 'I am glad.'

He will not speak for the others, but he knows that he, himself, is grateful not to be thought of as something other. He has had a lifetime of that.

And glad too, that the others will have someone who cares for their well-being.

'Then, I wish you good evening, sir.'

She's so quiet that I try to space out her EPs, but I can tag her into one of his threads if he still wants to talk to her.

Totally random thought (and not one I necessary think is a good idea): Kirk's last in-bar GF was 99. Played, of course, by Anne Hathaway. If you really want to mess with Kirk, send Fantine his way.

Awww, thanks for spreading the Valjean love, mate. He really is a lovely chap (at this point in his life, anyway). Nicest bloke I have ever - or will ever - play. < 3 him.

He must be a total departure for you -- you made your mark in Milliways with Ramon Salazar, after all! Valjean is the absolute opposite to that.

There's something special about the character, though, that almost goes beyond you writing him, if you know what I mean? Victor Hugo made him that way (classic case of incredibly helpful person not really able to help himself), and he comes across like that in almost every incarnation, apart from that awful 1998 movie...

He's the weirdo in my head, yes! Love him.

And for sure, it's far beyond anything to do with me. There's a reason he's the protagonist of a classic novel! Hugo created a really special guy, there - any incarnation whatsoever is just a cheap knock-off of the original. But it's still fun to play with him. :)

And it's fun and great joy to thread with him, and to be involved in that whole spontaneous plot of Les Mis With Added Vampire And Toasters -- that is what a place like Milliways is all about, after all!

I've brought Jess and Hank in for the kid plot and I expect Jess to get an OOM dealing with childhood memories tonight or tomorrow. Jess has met a wee Natasha and a wee Gavroche. Hank has met Gavroche as well.

I also need to get back to Quinlan chatting with William, this time in prep for a Fall Out plot.

Red is currently busy being confused by all her friends being tiny.

Meanwhile, poor Claudia's dealing with her brother thinking he's twelve, which is just weird, man. The kind of thing that calls for a drink.

In finished slowtime land: Claudia-Gaeta, in which Claud tries the zucchini pancakes, is properly introduced to Gogo the therapy dodo, and ultimately points Gaeta toward someone who can help him sort through his brainfail that isn't Hannibal Lecter.

Let's see, this week I made my car a resident of Delaware, wrote a librarian blog post and reviewed a lot of books on Goodreads.

I've been doing more in terms of RP and the Age Spell plot has got me very busy.

Before that plot got going Moist comforted a surprised Joshua, William reacted to Valjean's gift, Moist met Seamus Harper who he likes, Sameth met Eriond.

For the Age Spell, I deaged Charles, that EP is open and tagged him out to meet Joshua, Natasha and Adrian Shephard.

Well, as you can expect, Amascut is cheating at the de-aging plot. So, she's talking to Adrian Shephard and Enzo Matrix and pretending she has never met them before.

She's also discussing sea monsters with Skaði.

But I mainly came in to squee about the bits and pieces of theme music that were posted from the upcoming Missing, Presumed Death update and OMGOMG that first excerpt sounds like a previous Amascut theme, Final Showdown. I am preparing for major awesome or more disappointment but yay either way.

This week featured (*gasp*) actual RP.

First up was an overdue OOM for Lady Mary, who finally told someone at home about Milliways.

And Stiles has been getting involved in the age plot, not because he was around when the spell hit, but because he arrived just after and is really confused about why their are so many kids around.

I may or may not have stayed up passed midnight last night to watch nearly naked men chariot racing around a battlefield in 40F weather. But that probably, totally didn't happen.

I brought all four of my characters out in different places this weekend.

Joshua is now a very swear-y twelve-year-old, Fantine is talking to Nat and Teja, Valentine is calming Claudia down, and Helena's bopping about in one of Joshua's threads.

In museboxes, I'm playing with Claire Donovan, Joshua and Claudia's mother, who is an absolute hoot.

Otherwise... I'm trying not to get sick, because I have a Task Force meeting on Wednesday and it promises to be a big one.
