Two points:

1) To the mods: I have been trying to contact you for days and days and days. I know my schedule isn't that great, but if you can IM me or YM me (screenname Kimpire) please please please do so.

2) To everybody playing Harry Potter characters: Just out of curiosity, what happens when the sixth book comes out and drastically changes what you've established as being your canon? I.E. Pettigrew being innocent, Fudge being a Death Eater, etc.? A lot of that is going to suddenly be Completely Wrong...

As for #2- AU, I believe. Alternate Universe.

Ignore it.

This is Milliways - where we are supposed to be able to do pretty much whatever we like with our characters once they arrive. Canon is only as far as you've read in the books or seen in the series after all.

Peter's already established in talking to Wensleydale that J.K. Rowling is a gossip columnist for the Daily Prophet, and that she's apparently making money on the side by taking part in the most popular cottage industry in the wizarding world--writing about Harry Potter. Whatever isn't in Book 6, or whatever Millicanon is contradicted by Book 6, Peter would just say that Rowling omitted or got wrong, as unauthorised biographers often do.

Oh, and for the record, Peter is not innocent. He DID join Voldemort. He DID spy on the Order of the Phoenix. He DID betray the Potters. He DID kill James with Voldemort's wand. He IS indirectly responsible for Lily's death. The only difference is that in Millicanon, we know why Peter did these things. In canon, we don't.

P.S. Well, with the exception of killing James with Voldemort's wand. That's Millicanon. We do know in canon that James was killed by Voldemort's wand. We don't know who was wielding it at the time.

That's a very slick way of doing things. Props to you! (Or whoever thought it up!)

#2 - Cry and then incorporate whatever is possible. I don't think we'll ever find out too much more about 1950's Tom Riddle, but if we do, eh... I'm already in AU territory with him. It's all about time lines, baby - pick a time line, any time line.

*pats* You've got it easier than me. I'm considering utterly abandoning my plan to try and re-integrate Snow into the series and going AU with her like you did. As far as cannon goes, there will likely be background info at some point to harvest when the character suddenly feels talkative about an area they previously clammed up about.

Bill Weasley-mun here...

Answer to #2 - Well, I think that mine is the only HP character that came into Milliways after the Second War against Voldemort was finished (my Bill is from 1998) but, aside from assuming Voldie was very dead, I've made his past history very vague so far. He's mentioned losing a close friend in said war to Anya but I didn't name that friend (and I don't intend to, at least for now). The one thing that can complicate things for me is if any of the Weasleys end up killed in the following books (which I hope not because OMG! *sobs*), because then Bill would have had to know that kind of thing (*cough* especially if he's dead himself *cough*). I guess I'll cross that bridge when it comes time though ;)

{points up} What she said.

Anyway, the only one that would be hard to deal with is character death, but JKR has outright said she can't bear to off Ron. Now, one of the twins, on the other hand...{gulp}
