Halloween Plot - Suddenly... ZOMBIES!!!

In a few moments, a post shall be made in which the shambling horde of the mobile dead begin to swarm the bar. Here's what you need to know about it:

  1. Participation to the plot is 100% optional. This is a bar-wide plot, but in the interest of keeping things somewhat orderly, the zombies are to be contained to the plot post. Reactions and discussion of the zombies can, of course, take place in other threads. But this tends to be a high-traffic time for the bar as it is, so please keep all zombie-fighting in the designated EP.

  2. This is going to be set up like a Party Post. Everyone is free to tag in and do as they please (within the rules of the game, of course). Thread-hop, and tag out as much as you want. The post will be open as long as people keep tagging. If you tag in, please try to tag out as well.

  3. It will be a full-on swarm. The heaviest concentration will start out in the bar itself, but feel free to go other places as well. Zombies in the labyrinth? Out by the lake? On the roof? Go nuts!

  4. These are ordinary zombies. There is nothing special about them, other than the fact that they are dead and their bite is infectious. Slow, shambling, and stupid. They are attracted to light and noise, and will stop at nothing short of removing their head or destroying their brain.

  5. If you get bitten: Zombie bites happen. This can be one way to send off that pup you've not played in a while, and have been considering dropping. Death by zombie bite! Otherwise, you can handwave some Milliways Infirmary Magic. Medical staff are standing by in the event of a zombie bite, and have a contingency plan in place to assist those who have been bitten, but have not yet turned. But your pup doesn't know that this is an option yet, so getting bitten is not something you want to do (unless you really want to). We only have so many medical pups, and overwhelming them would be unfortunate.

The time it takes between bite and zombification is entirely up to you, the player. Typically, the severity of the bite informs how quickly a person will turn, so a little nip on the arm will probably give you a few hours, whereas having your face chewed off probably means you'll be dead within the minute.

  6. The zombies will be NPCs. The game is reaction. I will not be controlling any zombies, save those my own pups are dealing with. I will, however, be ducking in and out of threads, offering IC advice and help. How you deal with the zombies is up to you. They don't do much, and one or two by themselves is easy enough for most people to handle, but we're talking zombies by the dozen, or possibly in the hundreds. The bar will be overwhelmed.

  7. And lastly, you are perfectly welcome to blame my pup, IC and OOC, for any and all damage caused to property or people, since the swarm is kind of his fault, in a round-about way. He is going to be as helpful as possible, and will in return be asking for help in a few days.

This is a two-part plot, and the second part will be happening once the party post winds down. I will post more information about it tomorrow, for those interested in venturing out to help kill zombies on the home turf.

Instructions for medics can be found here, though not sure how many actual victims we will have, so probably best for victims to liase with medics.

Also I will chuck Guppy around if we don't have anyone to treat, but we won't be successfully jabbing anyone with the cure gun if they don't want to.

Question: What's the effective date on this? Is it considered to be happening tonight, Halloween, some other time in between? It might get mentioned in happy hour, is why we're asking.

The post is open indefinitely, but the second part of the plot will happen on Monday, tentatively. Millitime-wise, it will only last about a day. Two at most. But yes, happening tonight. So feel free to bring it up at Happy Hour.

Muahaha - well. I've always wanted to have Jules kill something with a crossbow somewhere on bar property...

Oh, definitely come on over! The post is open until everyone's done with it, and it was still going strong when I clocked out for the evening. I only just started tagging back out a few minutes ago.

Just so we're clear, zombification is only transmitted by biting, right? If the hordes draw blood with fingernails or the like, it won't result in infection?

It's very vague in Shaun's canon (I'm not actually sure, and the number of times I've seen the movie is easily in the high double-digits), so that is entirely up to you whether you want it to be just bites, or if scratches count as well.

Oooooh man -- still open for tags, right?

(I'm sure there's stuff I'm supposed to be doing with my life, but ... zombies.)

Thanks for making this opt-in and a party post. I really don't do well with zombies and your approach is very much appreciated.

Any chance of a summary of what happened for the likewise squeamish?
