Your pup has been kidnapped by an evil twin/shapeshifting alien/magical doppelganger. What's the fastest way they could inadvertently give themselves away, or at least accidentally indicate that they are not who or what they seem?

The easiest answer for Fluttershy would involve Angel Bunny. He is often - if I may speak bluntly - a jerk. But the real Fluttershy loves him anyway, no matter what he does. I doubt most impersonators could counterfeit that.

Not sure about my others. I'll need to think about that.

Apparently, nothing short of a global invasion will do in my case. Go me.

Hey, it's not your fault they wrote you as not catching any clues.

Don't feel too bad. I mean Jan missed Hank being a skrull and let's not forget even Wolverine was fooled. They got us and they got us perfectly.

And it's not like I had many friends who knew me anyway.

Tommy: being cheerful. Unless he's on happy pills, Tommy is never cheerful. He can be in a good mood, sure, but he's not gonna be smiling and whistling and giving out hugs or crap like that.

Lou: being indifferent toward food. If you ask him to lunch and he doesn't care much about what he orders, it's not Lou.

Acting like a typical Sith when it's not absolutely necessary. Wanton cruelty and ego, kicking metaphorical puppies, etc.

Can I refer to the time that Kirk made sure an evil android clone was racist as a tip-off to Spock. Or the time that he insisted Spock shoot both versions of Kirk in order to ensure the evil shapeshifter was stopped, but Spock knew immediately who was who.

My canon is fun sometimes.

And this is why the second new Star Trek film was SO ANNOYING.

?

I don't disagree, but not sure how this relates to Into Darkness.

Kirk standing in front of his seniors making racist anti-Vulcan comments about Spock? He'd never have done that in TOS, it's so out of character that he'd have to be a clone.

DGMW some of that film was great. Well, I'd rather Cumberbatch had a different name, but I just can't bond with new!Kirk at all.

The fastest way for the doppelganger to trip themself up would be to jump to conclusions about Thurlow's gender; suddenly deciding they were either a man or a woman would be incredibly suspicious after all this time letting people stew in their own confusion.

The second fastest would be to act cheerful and pleasant with no snark in evidence; the real Thurlow can be charming and friendly if they feel like it, but they temper it with dry wit. Their disposition is too sour for undiluted chipperness. (Well, they can fake chipper, but they only do this if they're either under an alias or dealing with someone they don't expect to see again.)

Haha. Amascut is the evil twin. She also plays at being the just as evil but slightly incompetent twin sister.

Her good twin most probably won't have ailuriphobia and won't be as ready to kill things. Also, she probably would be more open about being a goddess and she might offer resurrection to dead pups she finds worthy of it. So basically Amascut before she went nuts.

I think the notable difference between Fairy Fixit and her evil twin would be more teleporter "accidents". The "accidents" would also be likely to be slightly more on the fatal side.

I think I have discussed the Cheery Old Chicken here before. All the pleasant conversations and cucumber sandwiches, etc.

Heh, with Charles, there are so many possibilities due to his telepathy. It would depend why he's been kidnapped and how he could turn it to be helpful for mutants. I wouldn't be surprised if its not actually a plot somewhere though there's also the angle of Raven being involved which would add angst.

Ivan would freak out a lot, because clones are a thing in his world and his cousin has one and a world of no. Miles, his mother or at a certain point in canon, his wife would easily pick up on him not being himself when he acts more confident than he is.

Moist is just laughing in my head at this idea as that's the magical version of what he does but he tends to not pretend to be anyone in particular. That usually goes badly.

Will and William, I'm not sure. I think Katya would pick up on William not being himself and then go tiger on the person who set it up.

Sameth is going no in my head and I think Nick or Kait would figure out first that he's not himself. Probably by how he deals with people.

Jane, hm, I'll have to think about her.

Tumnus, I could see this happening in Narnia, the White Witch if she couldn't do that sort of magic could find someone who could. Lucy would figure it out, not sure how but she would.

The Pirate King, Ruth would notice and fix everything.

Okay, these are giving me plot ideas and reminding me I have a fic of Charles and Erik being kidnapped and mindwiped by the government I need to finish. Also it makes me wonder about IMDB flu since in a way, the effect is the same.

At this stage in his life, any other reaction about his father aside from what could generously be called "mixed feelings" would send up warnings (i.e., if he suddenly decided to condemn or forgive his father completely). Also, the doppelganger would have to know about the pager and earbud that Agent Stedman has given him, otherwise the Guardians of the Globe would know about it the minute that Invincible didn't respond to a page.
