Yesterday, my mom and I went to see Synetic Theater's Twelfth Night. Absolutely delightful. (And they made Sebastian and Viola the shipboard entertainment in the first scene, which made her passing as a man make so much more sense later.) Today, I shall get some work done and make hazelnut soup.
Father Pearse Harman from 'Ultraviolet', who came in on Monday thinking (at first) he'd ended up in a new cafeteria somebody put in in the faceless seventies concrete building where the vague yet menacing goverment-Vatican anti-vampire joint venture he works for resides; he got on well with Sunshine and later was assigned two shifts of kitchen duty because he threw a garlic gas grenade (his canon has them! really!) at the first vampire he met, who happened to be Eric Northman. He met Jean Valjean just as he was turning back from being Wolverine and got on with him quite well, which is amusing in a meta way. Later on, he was seen washing the dishes in the course of his punishment, quite meekly (for him), talking to Sunshine and ignoring Eric Northman as well as possible. Then, however, he met yet another vampire, tried to shoot him with a carbon bullet, and was arrested; on his cell post, people are trying to convince him that vampires are people, but the only one who really got through to him is Mel, with the plain phrase "They don't nom here, and we don't dust'em," which is actually helpful, coming from another uncompromising vampire hunter. He'll be out on Monday, and I think I have him at a level where he'll be able to deal with the place.-
And then, there are the Thénardiers, of which I play Madame; they are convinced that Milliways is their inn in Montfermeil which got refurbished by miraculous interference (WTF? But they are the Thénardiers; sloppy thinking is part of their character) and completely fail to believe half the rest of the Les Mis contingent, who arrive to un-greet them (Javert: "Turn around, and never return."). They talk to Yrael as well, who cheerfully proceeds to troll them.
I haven't had that much fun in a long time! Father Harman is just the kind of interestingly complex scary character (a good guy, but deeply scary!) I was missing since Urquhart left the building, and the Thénardiesse is an absolute hoot!
Thank you! I was having severe doubts in bringing him, but that happens with all the best charries. There are so many reasons why people might legitimately object to any one interesting character...
Very true. I think in Andrea's case, just the fact that they talk is
confusing and will give her pause. She has no illusions that she
understands souls but personhood is hard to argue if they talk.
The ones in Father Harman's world talk as well; it's just that they are, for all intents and purposes, corpses infected with a virus to animate them. Also, they're planning to take over the world as the human, their food source, seem about to fuck up it and themselves. It is an odd sort of canon, and I'm not quite sure what kind of point it is trying to make.
Finally dropping her by Saturday night; I'm so sorry I didn't do so immediately after I asked, my Aunt has been ill, took a turn for the worse and died recently, so I haven't been much in a threading mood.
Anton made an appearance this week when I got inspired by mention of the stray dogs of Moscow. He's in an interesting talk with Father Harman and is getting ready to celebrate with Tiger Cub.
An older headvoice, one Stephen Strange, returned and demanded a thread when he spotted an Agent Coulson over in panfandomsandbox. I really like Oded Fehr as his face for the MCU.
Tommy finally succumbed to the IMDb flu and is now a sadsack from the Midwest, which is probably the least typecast character I could think of for Denis Leary (except for a cartoon sabre-toothed tiger). His screen time amounts to about 10 minutes in this particular movie so I'm just making the most of it while I can.
This has been a weird week for me, my interview that was going to happen Friday was pushed back to Tuesday. That ended up being good with how weird the weather has been and I've been having some hopeful job things, but I'm afraid I might be sick.
A lot of this week has been taken up by writing and RP including a lot of enjoyable and interesting threads.
Ivan finally met someone who knows his world, K, he wasn't pleased. He also has an EP which is still open and where he's talking to Karou and was confused by Elrond.
William had a bad week meeting Javert thinking he was Ben Wade and is talking with Gaeta and Wan.
Jane has ended her IMDBflu, left a few notes and is trying to recover.
Well, nothing much happening in RL for me this past week, though I'll be moving out of my apartment this week.
In-bar, the big thing was the Thenardiers, obviously. They entered the bar and committed at least five felonies in the Fantine thread alone. Yrael has also been having fun toying with them. They are just the WORST. I am so, so glad that Maru got the idea for us to play them.
I also have a still IMDb Flu'd Jim threading with Kate Barlow, along with a few other threads or slowtimes I could mention but at the moment don't feel like linking to.
I finally came back from hiatus and started Rping again!
* Juliet, Clementine and Eponine were all stricken by variations of the IMDB flu bug, and all currently believe themselves to be other people and are horrifying their friends or loved ones (or, in Eponine's case, palling about with The Emcee from Sally's canon).
* Eponine is so out of it that she's only semi-aware that her parents are now in-bar, though her brother's tried to warn her.
* Pinkie is in the midst of trying to accept the fact that Discord's turned over a new leaf in-canon, and in the Bar she's dealing with Trixie's IMDB flu.
* Dixie's boyfriend has become a Colonial-era spy. She is delighted/distressed.

Moist and Edward Kenway got along scarily well.
