Weekend DE: Step right up...

So your pup has just been volunteered to host a happy hour, what theme do they run with? If they don't use a theme, what specials do they chose? Beer or wine? Mixed drinks? Shots? Would they do the minimal amount of work or really get into it?

The closest thing to a cocktail Kreyu has ever had was probably a mix of wine, beer and mead with medicinal herbs in. She'd probably ask Bar for a cocktail book and cheerfully experiment though.

Annabelle Newfield doesn't really TRUST cocktails, as they were used to cover up truly awful alcohol during Prohibition. If Annabelle is tending, the specials would be Whiskey or Whisky. Maybe with some ice.

Ibani doesn't have anything against mixed drinks, but she doesn't know how to mix a cocktail and she's not all that familiar with alcohol. So, something simple possibly. Unless she borrows Quinlan's idea to serve weird things.

If Tommy were still drinking, he'd love Annabelle's happy hours.

I hadn't realized he'd stopped drinking! Good for him. :-)

Well, he's stopped drinking for now at least. He's due to fall off the wagon :/

I feel like Kreyu and Brimstone should meet sometime.

I think you're right. :-) They could discuss magic theory! (I'd also bet that the teeth of an immortal being are pretty potent, not that Kreyu needs wishes.)

Varric, Edward Kenway, and El Santo all come from times and cultures where the concept of specials at a drinking house just don't register- and Varric and Edward are from times within those cultures when menus don't exist; if you come to an inn, you either eat what the kitchen's prepared or you don't eat at all. Order-what-you-want restaurants don't exist in Edward's world (at least not the European nations and their colonial empires) until the French Revolution forces the chefs of the aristocratic families to find a way to make themselves useful to the people in a hurry, and establishments designed solely to offer the public an opportunity to come and buy prepared food are born from this.

Stacker Pentecost is not a big fan of mixed drinks; he's more likely to offer a selection of beers and stouts. He will, however, take some time to read a bartender's handbook and memorize a goodly number of beverage recipes.

Gordon usually attempts some kind of mixed-drink theme but has to consult the handbook for anything beyond the basics.

Ellen may offer a selection of mixed drinks based on a theme if she's in a good mood. If she's had a bad day she'll just put the drinks most common in her world on special- beer, vodka, whiskey, not much more than that. She may offer half off in exchange for useful information or stories. If she's doing mixed drinks she'll do her best to remember to include a non-alcoholic option, although she thinks this is weird (her world has no concept of a drinking age).

Shephard will usually offer variations on the theme of beer. Sometimes he'll try to dig up mixed drink themes. He will almost always offer an extra discount for being taught something new, particularly cuss words and how best to use them.

Medic will do either specific German/Eastern European beers, or old-school cocktails.

Mark doesn't drink, and isn't old enough to drink for that matter. He'd likely do something like an Ice Cream Special, with floats, ice cream sodas, and the like.

Tommy puts up his usual list of hard liquor, often Irish brands. Guinness is a staple. Since he prefers to do the least amount of work, he won't do mixed drinks unless it's just liquor and ice or a splash of more liquor. Besides, he hates mixed drinks and following recipes, so if you request something special, he'll charge you extra for it. In the past he offered a free drink or half-off to the ladies in exchange for a kiss.

(I considered having him take the St. Patrick's Day happy hour again this Monday, but he's had it the past...two years? Yikes. So he'll sit this one out in case anyone else wants it.)

Lou's first bartending gig consisted of an actual brand of beer and soft drinks created by firefighters, which is pretty cool. He has more eclectic tastes, though, so next time, if there is a next time, he'll broaden the menu to include wine and cocktails, and would offer baked goods if he had enough time to whip some up.

Amascut serves up hard liquor, especially mescal, tequila, and their cousins now that she knows of them. The hardest is Braindeath 'rum', which is Atlantean's cheap and nasty next door neighbor. It etches glass! Occasionally, some specialty inspirational craft beer from her world might make it on the specials board; Slayer's Respite, Dragon Bitter, and Wizard's Mind Bomb are probably what will show up.

I am unsure of what Fairy Fixit would serve, though I figure the fairies with their fungus and tooth based magic can probably come up with very high-proof beers. They would probably loaded with carbohydrates as well, and sweet. May wine seems like a good possibility, too.

Clementine: Has done south-of-the-border and Fourth of July themes before; she usually goes Vegasy when she gets picked. With tropical drinks and 40 percent off of Reno's craft beers.

Dixie: would go as elegant as she could, with fancy treats and an intimate atmosphere. Champagne would be a must.

Pinkie: ALL PARTY. ALL THE TIME. THE MOST PARTYISH PARTY EVER.

Juliet: Tries to run it the same way she'd run the bar during any charity event she's ever done. "Try" being operative.

Eponine's happy hour shows a bit of her parent's flair, in spite of it all.
