Anyone else remember Otherways (for all your AU-versions-of-characters needs)?

And did it migrate to DW/would anyone be interested in a reboot of it?

We've already got two sandbox communities, I don't see any real need for a third.

It wasn't a sandbox, it was another game entirely. It just happened to sort-of share the setting.

I'm not sure I remember Otherways to be honest. Looking at the existing comments and inferring a bit, was it a game where you could play with AU ideas for your Milliways pups, like rule 63 or minor yet major changes to canon?

The focus was canon-divergence AUs, if my memory serves (notably, Lily Potter was helping Tom Riddle against the forces of Dark Lord Cornelius Fudge), but rule 63 AUs would certainly fall under that, I'd think.

Milliways itself in that game was also slightly darker (something about Meg Giry's tutu going postal and eating people??? I think).

I like the sounds of it! It seems a good way to have fun and maybe kickstart a head voice when it's stalled.

On the one hand, you could probably do whatever AU version of the character you wanted in m_m or PFSB, but on the other hand... why not?

If memory serves, and please correct me if I'm wrong in this back-thinking, OtherWays was the product of a player within the game, and not a mod-sanctioned/approved thing. It had no official ties to the Milliways, save for "borrowing" the location, mechanics, and I want to say the formatting of the comm journal. As such it wasn't migrated when Milliways moved from LJ to DW.

Oh, I know it didn't get migrated as part of the Milliways move. I was wondering if anyone knew if it had been migrated at all.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was Daniel's Comm, he of Crichton-fame, and I don't know that he's around any longer.

I think we use Mixed muses for that now, generally. But I wasn't involved in the old one.

Out of curiosity, I did a manual search (i.e. typed in otherways.dreamwidth.org) and it seems there is something that looks like what has been described already. Don't know that it is the same but here is the profile page:
