Tag removal from post

Someone mistakenly tagged Yrael's latest EP with the "Hannibal Lecter" tag - neither Maru nor I know who - and we can't seem to remove it.

Dunno who'd be able to do this - one of the mods? :D?

I've had problems in the past with posts showing my pup's tags without my having added them. Usually they were posts created long before the pup ever existed. It might be a dreamwidth issue.

That would usually be that your pup's tags were created by replacing an earlier, disused character's tag, and so your pup's tag appeared in that pup's tag's place. That happened when I apped Sunshine, too, and got a tag for her.

They must be the old tags of the charrie who whose tag was renamed to that of your character that was brought over from LJ.

But Yrael and Hannibal have both had tags since the inception of the tagging system on LJ; however, this is a brand-new post. We have no idea how Hannibal's tag materialised on that post.

What Yrael-mun said. Since we're limited to two thousand tags total for the community, when a new character is assigned a tag I recycle older ones that haven't been used in years. I try to keep it to tags with the least prior usage and a long, long time since their last appearance in the community.

I'm pretty sure I did that; not sure why, but I think it's down to Yrael thinking about Hannibal. Sorry.

As to what do about it: not sure if reparable. I've made that sort of mistake in past and asked the mods to fix it, but I can't recall whether or not they could.

To be fair, if you are the tag fairy who fixes our tags magically overnight when we forget to do it, you earn a large geek five from me for continuing services and a free pass for the occasional mistake <3
