Daily Entertainment: Liars Edition!

I have no ideas today, Milliways, so have something I just thought up.

Two Truths and a Lie! How this game is played is simple: Write out three facts about your character(s). Two are truth, one is a lie. Everyone must guess which is the lie.

Bonus points: One canon fact, one headcanon fact, and one lie. (Let people know if you're going this option.)

Doing canon, headcanon and lie.

Teja: 1. He never killed a woman. 2. He let the last Roman hostage escape a massacre he ordered. 3. He catapulted the heads of captured spies over the walls of Rome during a siege.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter: 1. He spent part of his youth in a Soviet orphanage because his parents were Lithuanian dissidents. 2. He went to school in France while in the care of his uncle. 3. He came to the US for an internship at Johns Hopkins because of his excellent surgical skills.

Father Pearse Harman: 1. He speaks Portuguese, but badly. 2. He was on assignment in Brazil when he first encountered vampires. 3. During his assignment in Autralia, he was posted to Brisbane.

Madame Thénardier: 1. She is a voracious reader of pulp novels, penny dreadfuls, cheap bodice-rippers and thrillers. 2. She has three daughters and two sons, actually. 3. Her first name is simply Jeanne-Marie, but as that name is so very ordinary, nobody ever calls her that. She's change it to something exotic if she could but, short of that, she gave all her daughters interesting names from her favourite books.

Lady Margolotta: 1. She is generally known to be in a relationship with the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork, which is a publicly acknowledged fact -- they even attended a football game together. 2. She is a founding member of the Überwald League of Temperance, that is, the vampire reform movement. 3. She sent Captain Lajos Tantony of the Bonk City Watch to Ankh-Morpork to learn about modern law-keeping methods.

Tamara the mermaid: 1. A 'true kiss' from her will enable her human partner to breathe underwater. 2. Her food source is exclusively limited to dead or drowned sailors. 3. There are no mermen; mermaids sleep with human men to get their eggs fertilised, and their spawn is tiny (think the tiny fish-girls in 'Ponyo') at first and lives in shallow kelp forests, where they are relatively safe; the mermaids will raise them collectively and feed them the choices bits.

I'm going to guess for Teja that #1 is the lie. Annnd...#2 is headcanon?

Hannibal: These are all guesses, because I know what you've written about him but having still not have seen canon, I don't know what's true. I'm going to say that #1 is the lie, #2 is headcanon and #3 is true.

Harman: #1 is true. And the other two are doing my head in, because they're both familiar but I can't remember. I'll go with #2 being the lie, but I'm not confident.

Madame: #1 is true. #2 is a lie - she has two daughters and three sons. So #3 must be headcanon...and I am LMAO at your continuation of the EVERYONE IS CALLED JEAN tradition. \o/ I really need to get Javert's baptismal name out there, and then pick a suitable Jean-something for Courfeyrac. *grin*

Teja and Madame: right; Hannibal and Harman: wrong.

WAIT A SECOND JAVERT HAS A BAPTISMAL NAME AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME?
road_to_calvary: (Oh Well)

[personal profile] road_to_calvary 2014-05-24 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
*cackle* It is entirely headcanon, and he doesn't count it as real, hence him never mentioning it. He probably would have told Ganymede at some point, but then the bloke would probably use it and they'd fight about it. So he refrained. But, yes. It is Jean-Michel, because EVERYONE IS JEAN to Hugo, and I couldn't resist the St. Michael reference.

...You, madam, are evil.

Also extra evil for that disappearance they pulled. Mean. So mean. They better come back soon.

*grin* Javert figured they fight enough as it is, why hand more ammo over? If he acknowledged it as a real name, he would have admitted it earlier.

*ruffles their collective faces* They'll be back. I haven't decided when, but it'll probably be a couple more weeks. <3

FFFFFFFFF. Ganymede is eyerolling something severe over here. Also Nori misses Jean. (awkward emotional realizations ftw?)

*snicker* He always is, with Javert. With good reason.

And aww, Nori. Valjean does worry about her. He'll try and find her when he gets back.

Sunshine: 1. Doesn't have any tattoos. 2. Vehemently dislikes watermelon-flavored anything. 3. Spent much of her 17th year high on various illegal drugs.

Yrael: 1. Can't remember what he was like, before being imprisoned. 2. Isn't bothered by not being able to tell where Yrael's qualities end and Mogget's begin. 3. Can't swim.

Zelgadiss: 1. Has a thorough understanding of practical physics. 2. Can be used as a ship's anchor. 3. Is an accomplished user of black magic.
death_gone_mad: (skeptical)

[personal profile] death_gone_mad 2014-05-23 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Zelgadiss is an effective anchor if I remember right. Lina is the primary user of black magic in the party, but then again, Zelgadiss is accomplished at using magic which obviously isn't white, so yeah black magic and accomplished and all that. Soooo... he can't physics?

{edit} no, wait, doesn't he use shamanistic?

[personal profile] chime_ra_tilt 2014-05-23 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Zelgadiss is a master of shamanist magic, which is the elemental magic - fire, water, air, earth, electricity, spirit, etc. It doesn't pull its power from either divine (white magic) or infernal (black magic) sources. It's why he can use Ra Tilt, the ultimate shamanist spell, but not Dragon Slave, the ultimate black magic spell.

:D

He can totally physics. :D:D:D:D

Canon, headcanon and lie.

Gene: 1. Had a Saturday job in a mate's dad's garage when he was in school. 2. Holds a season ticket for Man City. 3. Once shot a woman at a post office siege.

Javert: 1. Has never told a lie. 2. Understands, and can speak, fluently in the argot (slang/street language) of both Paris and the southern regions if he would deign to let it pass his lips. 3. Never physically assaulted any of the gamins of Paris.

Jean Valjean: 1. Tried to escape the galleys four times in his first stint there. 2. Stole bread to save his young niece, who was ill. 3. Has an unspoken desire to travel all over Europe.
yakalskovich: (Schrödinger's whatever)

[personal profile] yakalskovich 2014-05-23 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really know for certain about Gene, but suspect that 1. is the lie, 2. is headcanon (I remember him supporting City, not ManU) and 2. is the lie. Javert: 3. is a lie, 2. is the truth, and 1. is the headcanon. Valjean perplexes me, because 1. was three times as far as I remember, 2. was a nephew, and 3. would be the headcanon?
road_to_calvary: (I Win)

[personal profile] road_to_calvary 2014-05-23 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll give the answers!

Gene:
1. Headcanon.
2. Truth. Stated in the second series of Life on Mars.
3. Lie - it was an unarmed man

Javert:
1. Truth (as stated in the text: whether it's actually true is open for debate).
2. Headcanon.
3. Lie. He certainly dragged Gavroche off a statue by his ear, once. And I imagine it wasn't the only incident.

Valjean:
1. Truth. Four attempts, in 1800, 1802, 1806, 1809.
2. Lie. You're right, it was his nephew.
3. Headcanon. I base this off the fact that most of his reading material is stated as being travel books, at least when he was in Paris.
yakalskovich: (Mun and pups)

[personal profile] yakalskovich 2014-05-23 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, so that was where I was wrong about Valjean. Three is such a trope-a-licious number.

Jason Todd - Jay won his motorcycle in a game of poker. Jay once took down an entire SWAT team while wearing nothing but a towel. He actually doesn't like Alfred's baking but would never tell him that.
ceitfianna: (pooka illustration)

[personal profile] ceitfianna 2014-05-25 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I think the second one is canon, the third is a lie and the first is headcanon. Though honestly I could see either of the first two being canon because DC is weird.
runningred: (Default)

[personal profile] runningred 2014-05-25 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I should have specified that it's two truths and a lie.
ceitfianna: (paper butterfly)

[personal profile] ceitfianna 2014-05-25 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, no worries, I should have thought of that first. Then I'm going to say the third one is a lie because its Alfred's baking.
runningred: (Default)

[personal profile] runningred 2014-05-25 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Sad to say but no. The poker thing is the lie. In the New52 there's a scene where Tim and Jason bond over how they would never admit to him that Alfred's waffles taste like paste. There's a reason Jay's more headcanon than anything else!
ceitfianna: (Charles+Raven-here to hold you)

[personal profile] ceitfianna 2014-05-25 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
I never would have guessed that, DC is weird but I'm sure Jay looked good fighting in a towel.
runningred: (Default)

[personal profile] runningred 2014-05-25 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
The new52 is just a mess. In that, Jay's meant to hate Dick fervently but I just couldn't do it.

Way late and likely won't be seen but I couldn't resist.

Jessica Drew (truth, lie, headcanon)
1-She has only lived in four major cities.
2-She has had three different codenames.
3-She continues to wear the suit designed by HYRDA as a way of thumbing her nose at them.

Juliet Favorite drink is coffee, has a stuffed penguin from her childhood named Lewis, has a tattoo of Florida on her rear end.

Pinkie Pie Thinks oatmeal is hilarious, is secretly a serial killer, has secret dreams of becoming an aerobics instructor.
