DE: Gotta catch 'em

For whatever reason--canon AU, Milliways shenanigans, or whatever--your pup is now the caretaker of a little beastie, ala Pokemon. What sort of beastie is it? How do they feel about it? How do they feel about it deep down? Are they a good caretaker? Have they had this beastie for a long time or is it a recent development? And what if you, the mun, were to be a caretaker? What would you chose?

Feel free to mine Pokemon, myth, Neopets, or whatever source you'd like for the beastie. Heck, make up your own if you'd like.

Whatever kind of beastie it is, Amascut would throw it or at least try to chase it into a dungeon, where it can either kill adventurers and other beasties or be killed. She has a record of doing so; it is a terrible habit of hers.

I don't know if Fairy Fixit would go little. Big beasties double as beasts of burden! But anyhow, she would either have a Tooth Beast (basically, a goat made of TEETH) and dote over it every day and brush it and feed it talking cow milk, or she would go for an even bigger beastie, the grifalroo. Which looks nothing like a kangaroo with a bad Coryceps infection. It's more like a minotuar with a bad Coryceps infection. Scary thing and also a hippity hoppy thing, but she would dote on it and help it find all the yummies.

Grifalroo is a fun word to say.

For those who haven't met Enzo's pet, Minus, he's the software out of a T-Minus unit, manifest as a small, levitating nautilus with the personality of a puppy who makes only noises associated with instant messengers. He has all the abilities of the transdimensional chat client which he still technically is, and can learn to interface with other communication systems (limited to text).

Well, for me, I adored Lupes and Aishas back when I played Neopets. Never played Pokemon, so dunno. I'd need some time to learn to be a good caretaker, but I'd learn. For certainsure.

Henry can have an Amaura. He's pretty young, so he'd have a lot to learn about responsibility, but I'm guessing he'd get there. Probably a fairly recent development. He'd really like it! Deeper, he'd have instant connection but it would take a while to strengthen, I think--again, he's young.

Lois gets a Lupe. Because snuggly and probably capable of vicious. And maybe an Eevee for good measure. She'd try to pretend she's not a good caretaker, but she is. Eevee she mighta had prior to Smallville, but Lupe is only afterwards. She'd grump a lot about having to take care of them--but deep down? Totally adores them. Just ask Clark.

Eriond might well just adopt all of them ever, despite Horse, and love them and play with them. He'd be an excellent caretaker!

Tavi canonically fails at having a discrete Pokemon for his early life, if not all of it; I would more or less suspect he can eventually shape one if he wants, but doesn't have one exactly. During the brief period he has one she is a decaying, beautiful goddess. He makes use of her even though it accelerates her decay, because the world needs saving. His grandfather had already destroyed her, or Tavi would have been a devoted and protective caretaker (it runs in his family). He will not get her in-Bar until the start of September, more or less. He cares very much for her, and she was the last of his tutors--he has to keep himself from crying when she dies. As for deeper down...

Deeper down, basically any of the Gaius men who worked with her and who were worth anything as First Lords had some serious issues. They're tied to her--she says explicitly that some part of her will always remain with the line, whether or not Tavi constructs a replacement for her. Frankly, Tavi is one of the few who would have had a healthier relationship with her long-term, because Kitai's there to balance it out. I'm mostly convinced that all of them were half in love with Alera to some degree. And no, I'm not sure there is much distinguishing between Great Fury, land, and Realm there.

I'm honestly not going to bother with a Pokemon or Neopet who isn't Alera. Iunno, is there one who's a vicious wolverine thing? Poochyena into Mightyena might do. I can guess plenty of Alerans' non-fury Pokemon. Tavi's, not so much.

Canonically, Jinora would probably have her pick of any of the ring-tailed winged lemurs that hang around the Air Temples in her world if she wanted. There's also Furry Foot, the dragonfly-rabbit spirit introduced in Book 2. Otherwise, she'd have a Terriermon.

AHAH

Clementine: Would try to collect pretty pokemon and groom them all the time and it wouldn't be pretty.

Dixie: Army of Jigglypuffs. She loves them. They're deadly as hell.

Juliet: Army of Bulbasaurs and one Snorlax she can't bear to give away.

Eponine: Mighty army of water Pokemon.

Pinkie: Would turn them all into sous chefs TBH.
