Nothing new, but I was messing around with iTunes playlists earlier and was once again reminded that As Lovers Go and When You Come Back Down are perfect, PERFECT Alanna/George songs. And now I want George back in the bar like burning.
Funny you should mention Karou, as I recently published a Brimstone mix. I'm on the fence about whether I should email the link to Laini Taylor. I've already contacted her once with praise for her books and a question regarding Brimstone, and she actually replied!
Have you read book three yet? I started it but stalled out at page 200 because I need to refresh my memory of the first two. I've forgotten who most secondary characters are. I think that's why I am enjoying the Grisha trilogy so much. Reading them back to back means I don't have time to forget details. *laughs*
I have read it and it was great! I love how she wrapped things up, even if Brimstone never makes an appearance. I kept hoping he'd return, given what's possible in their world, but it never happened. :(
I've also been making mixes all over the place and publishing here on my 8tracks; the most recent being a republishing of a Hank McCoy mix, the above mentioned Brimstone mix, and one for Penny Dreadful.
There's a whole genre of music that's written solely for movie and video game trailers; they're generally around three or four minutes long and tend to be ridiculously epic. I've got a Pandora station that's based off this kind of thing- the original seed was Two Steps From Hell, the people who did the trailer music for the Mass Effect games. The most recent discoveries:
As for Elrond, there are things in his background that rhymes with Rammstein's Sonne. In my head at least. Gentler times is more like Kaare Norge. Some kulning perhaps.

Second, I've gotten a bit lost in the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack. ETA: Hedwig's a bit NSFW.
Yeeeah.

Part of me wishes I could play her, but most of me knows I wouldn't do her justice.

Also I am extremely fond of this Bloody Shirt fanvid for Welcome to Night Vale.

Zack Hemsey's album The Way
Audiomachine's Chronicles
Immediate Music's Trailerhead
Kerry Muzzey's Trailer Music 3
Future World Music's A Hero Will Rise
Right now my favorite tune from all of these is probably "Facing Demons", from The Way.

Speaking of epic game music, I just came across this mix and thought it might be up your alley.
ETA: OK, maybe not as epic as it first seemed. A good mix still.

Also I like The Hoosiers. And these are my favorite Weathers.

Well, here's a grindcore cover of "Doctor in Distress."
Apologies.
