DE: Sick Day Free-for-all
Because I'm at home sick with a bit of a reaction to the treatment I had yesterday, I leave you today's DE:

Digital Revolution 1
"Fight?" called back one binome. "Against that? No! We will run. And we will keep processing."
"Sure, fight and you may be deleted. Run, and you’ll keep processing… at least a while. And declining into obsolescence, many cycles from now, would you be willing to trade all the seconds, from this second to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell that virus that he may take our RAM, but he’ll never take… OUR FREEDOM!

Digital Revolution 9
"So that's User music, is it?"
"It's… not all like that."
"I like it," said one numeral.
"Well, you would."

Nothing was readily apparent but just as she was about to kick he mare into motion again, she spied the weirdest looking frog. Or was it a toad? It was nearly spherical, with legs that barely reached the ground and was about the size of a plum. And it had the cutest, over-sized eyes.
"Aren't you the cutest little thing," she cooed at it. It blinked a few times, opened it's mouth, which was filled with needle-like teeth, and then leap at her.

She had misgivings about the vampire with the green spiked hair and the fake silver chains dangling oh-so fashionably from his leather vest. Typical baby vamp: overeager, impulsive, and trying too hard. He had never been to Fangtasia before. Pam warned him that there were rules. And that breaking those rules had consequences.
He didn't seem to take them seriously, because half an hour later she found him biting a girl, right out on the dance floor, in full public view. Even worse, the girl hadn't consented and was making a fuss.
So Pam grabbed the vampire by the neck and threw him against the nearest wall.
"You're tacky. Get the fuck out."
Fangs down, she stalked toward him as if to drive her point home, and he scrambled to his feet and out the door.
The nightlife resumed as usual.
Pam went up to the girl, who was visibly shaken and rubbing the blood off her throat.
"Don't worry, sugar," Pam cooed. She made a show of retracting her fangs. "We're not all bloodsucking fiends."
She tweaked the girl's chin, then nodded at the door to the ladies' room.
"Go clean yourself up."
The girl hurried off, and Pam crossed her arms and sighed. Tourists loved this shit.

Yvetta emerged into the hallway, adjusting her camisole straps and tugging at her jeans.
"Привет," she chirped breathlessly at him as she passed by.
Eric stared at her, watching her leave, then stepped into the doorway of his office.
Pam was perched on the edge of his desk.
"Hello," she said, and she held up a compact mirror and began reapplying her lipstick.

Annabelle - flowers

Oh, right, a giant THING with tentacles had thrown her through a wall. Or maybe two. That would explain the pain, nausea, and general unpleasantness.
On the plus side, wherever she was now seemed to have a decided lack of screaming going on, and the smell of sewage had been replaced by the smell of....flowers?
Annabelle opened one eye to be met by the sight of flowers covering what looked, at first glace, to be every available flat surface of the hospital room. "Did a hothouse explode in here?" she croaked out.
"Those would be from your admirers," Whitely replied, causing her to nearly jump out of her skin. "Damn it, Whitley, don't DO THAT!" she complained. "Why were you using your 'I'm not here' trick on me, anyway?"
"I wasn't," Whitley replied dryly. "Though I confess the hydrangeas might have hidden me from view."
"Are they dangerous?" Annabelle asked, confused.
Whitely stared at her, then wheezed with suppressed laughter. "They're....they're flowers, Annabelle."

But the Force is with her, always. She takes her anger, her pain and her fear, calls them up and uses them to pull power into herself. It hums under her skin, warm and tingling and she laughs in his face as he looms over her. She pushes at him and she hears his ribs crack as he tumbles backward. Lightning crackles around her hands and arcs out toward her opponent, causing him to scream in pain as his muscles contract and the lightning burns him.
No, she realizes, she was never weaponless at all.

He smiles and makes small talk, ignoring Pam's not at all discretely rolled eyes in the background.
The newscaster, Doreen, laughs at one of his small jokes and he takes the opportunity to compliment her hair. Then the camera slash sound slash driver slash whatever the hell else he does guy tells them they're good to go, and Doreen launches into her carefully prepared questions.
Her rosy cheeks aren't solely caused by nervousness now.
And all the while, he can hear the drip, drip, drip of the blood from the torn off head that he'd had to leave balancing precariously on a shelf, when the Shreveport news rolled around for their scheduled Vampire and Local Business Owner Interview of the Month bullshit.
It makes his fangs ache.
