DE: Not just pretty words

 For some reason, your pup now has a crest of arms. With such, comes the need for a motto; what is theirs? For those who already have a crest and motto, what is it and does it have a story?

I feel like describing the arms first, so: against a map of his world, the golden sun, between four lighthouses (blue, green, purple, red). (I could do the colors heraldically, but I have no idea of what most of the other terms would be, and I'm unclear on the overal phrasing.)

As for a motto: "Semper vigilans."

Well, pretty much everyone's seen what Gordon's sigil or crest or whatever would be, as per the icon; as far as mottos go we're gonna go with what Alyx had engraved on the crowbar she commissioned Teja to make. 'Pain Is Temporary, Victory Is Forever'.

The second thing that came to mind for Shephard was the Corps motto, but I don't think he'd feel right about appropriating that for himself only. The first thing that came to mind for him was "[UNPRINTABLE IN ANY LANGUAGE]".

I have opted to compromise by lifting a motto from the Army's Intelligence Support Activity unit and adjusting it to fit Shephard properly. "Fuck Those Guys, Send Me".

As for the crest or sigil, the eagle, globe and anchor is spoken for, as is his proposed variant with a phoenix instead of an eagle; therefore he will be referencing the Corps nickname of 'devil dogs' and placing a bulldog back to back with a houndeye on his paticular crest, kthx.

I'm seriously going to beg my classically educated housemate to translate UNPRINTABLE IN ANY LANGUAGE onto Ancient Greek or Latin. A) because it would look awesome and B) to give anyone who could read it a good laugh.

I figured it was either that or [EXPLETIVE DELETED], but [EXPLETIVE DELETED] pretty much belongs to the late President Nixon.

I remain convinced, however, that in any form of epic poetry that uses either epithets or kennings, Shephard ought to be referred to as 'Shephard the Unprintable'.

Ibani's motto would be "For The Empire." That is, for the sake of the people who live in the Empire, not the Sith. Not that she would tell anyone that, of course. Much easier to let them jump to the conclusion that she's for the status quo.
