This hasn't happened yet with Ibani, but force choke would be a definite possibility. >.> (Force choke being that thing that Darth Vader tends to do to subordinates in the original trilogy, only Ibani wouldn't be doing it to the point of death.)
It shuts them up, AND gets 'don't mess with my people' across all in one go! *shakes head at Sith*
Quin: Depends. It's Khaleen, a hand on the blaster and advice to rethink the matter. If it's the kids being insulted, that blaster is in your face and he's manipulating the Force to amplify their fear.
Jess: I think she's laughing cause all her close friends are so beyond any insult it's amusing that anyone would try. See Logan and Carol if you doubt me. Unless it's Clint being insulted. She'd likely agree in that case.
Lady Trent would call the person out as a villain and barbaric, if it is done to her face. If it is in the papers, as will happen in her future, she will fume in private but not give them the dignity of a reply in public.
Andrea: Depends on the place in canon. Right now it'd be a snicker and a "yeah, right". In the future, she'd have to face it with a challenge for reasons that are spoilers.
And bonus, Tybalt (since his voice is being loud): Young Tybalt would either applaud or mock the insulter, depending on how witty the insult is. Present day Tybalt would give them a threatening glare and insult them right back, likely in such a manner as to leave them with serious metaphorical burns and the impression that continuing would not be in the best interests of their good health.
It depends on whether they actually meant he insult or not; Shephard doesn't bother getting angry at people he can tell didn't realize they were being insulting or didn't mean it to come across as strongly as it did. He includes a lot of insults and trash talk from members of the United States Navy in this category, because "they can't help sayin' stupid shit- they're Navy, bless their hearts".
If it's a real insult, and meant as one, he may inform the person that they have one chance and one chance only to take it back. He doesn't always bother giving them that chance. More often than not he'll lock the door- assuming they're indoors- and then commence with the physical violence.
Jemma: Voluable, voluable reaction detailing exactly why that person is wrong. At length. With words becoming longer and angrier as time goes on. Intelli!babble up to a thousand.
....
OOoooooooor she'll shoot. One or the other. Depends. Mostly on if there's a gun in her hands at the time.
Oswin: ... This is the girl who defeated the Daleks and thinks computer firewalls are funny. She'll probably not do much to said person's face, but one hopes they had some cash stashed under a mattress somewhere and someone with really high standing to vouch for their identity. Oswin believes in vengeance.
William: Would probably challenge that someone to a duel. Protip: Don't chose pistols. Swords won't go well either.
Katya: ..................................... Depends. So much. Most only whether the someone insulting is Other, if the someone insulted is Other, if the insulting person is a prisoner, and if she's supposed to be maintaining a cover for any sort of reason. Answers range from 'ignoring completely as utterly boring' to 'You and me, duel in the Gloom, NOW, and by the way I'm tearing your soul to shreds'.
Clara: Mostly fierce denial. She's the most 'mostly-harmless' one in the batch. Go figure.
Sam: Would probably give the insulting person the cold shoulder. She's good at cutting people off. She's also a vengeance sort of girl, so if the chance comes up, she isn't above retribution.
Glorfindel: Depending on where he is, what he's doing, who the insulting person is, and who the insulted person is, answers range from 'oops didn't hear you at all what there's another person here didn't realize' to 'death now'.
Balthazar: ....................... There probably wouldn't be much reaction. At all. Maybe, if he actually gives half a damn about the person doing the insulting, he'll feel the need to do a little correcting (hi plasma bolts!) but... honestly, stupid people die eventually, without any help from him.
Bones: Mostly ignoring. He knows the people he cares deeply for, and doesn't much give a damn for other people's opinions. He argues most with the people he cares about.
Also, if someone's going around insulting Olga, that's their own death wish. ... Katya concurs on this.
Will, look at his first couple of years in the Bar, lots of fights as he has a temper. You insult Robin and there will be a fight and he's dangerous too.
Charles, he gets quietly angry, tells you where you're wrong then leaves and cuts you out of his life.
Ivan, when he was younger he got into a lot of fights doing this, fighting is a major part of the Barrayaran tradition. He's better now and instead uses insults and social snubs.
Moist, there aren't a lot of people he cares enough about to care if you insulted them, but if he did, then he would pay you back, spread rumors about you. No violence but it wouldn't end well.
William, fighting, he like Will has a bad temper and he's learning to work on it, but his first instinct is still to hit.
Sameth, fighting but more organized, he's a prince and attended an Eton type boarding school. Fights should be done properly though he'll still try and take you down.
Jane, she will destroy you with words and if you amused her, create a character to immortalize your awfulness.
Demeter, oh dear, it depends on what you did how bad it will be. As a goddess, her sense of morality and proportion is off as shown by turning Ramon into a tree. He deserved it for how much pain he caused Bill and Kate but still, don't mess with her.
Tumnus, he's not much of a fighter so he would argue as best he could.
Enjolras: The strength of his emotional reaction depends on the person and the insult and the context, whether he's actually angry or just "no but see you may not realize that that is factually wrong." In any case, the reaction is basically NO BUT LET ME EXPLAIN YOU A THING, whether he's being earnest or coldly pissed off about it.
Cosette: Startled, hurt on their behalf, and angry -- but Cosette's anger is very much a flash-in-the-pan kind of temper, not violent or grudge-holding. She would vociferously defend them, and insist that the person take their words back.
Thor: Temper! Instant temper. How much he lets that slip out depends a LOT on who the person is, and whether they meant that insult to be a vicious one. If he's talking to a definite noncombatant who didn't intend that kind of insult, or a friend who likewise either meant no insult or friendly trash-talking, you'll just get him straightening up in shock and affront and then carefully correcting them -- with or without the "whoa that was SERIOUSLY AN INSULT" explanation and with or without a certain amount of looming intimidation depending on various factors. If it's a warrior and/or somebody who fully intends the insult, a lot more bets are off. (And if it's an Asgardian, there's a lot of instant rank getting pulled too, at least in body language and background assumptions.)
Trowa: Makes mental notes. Very likely doesn't correct the person, but it's absolutely a black mark against their judgment/understanding/trustworthiness in his books.
Clare: Gets angry, has very little idea what to do with the anger, probably stalks silently off.
River: Gets annoyed, and either snaps at the person or just tells them exasperatedly to be nice, depending on a) whether she likes the insulting person, and b) whether the insulter and insultee have a tumultuous history together, and c) whether the insult is actually accurate. (River has a lot of loved ones who do or used to annoy each other. Or hate each other's guts.)
Regan: ...Weirdly, a lot like Enjolras! But without the nineteenth century earnestness, so no long and embarrassingly sincere paeans to the insulted person's awesomeness. Also, she's generally tuned into whether there are a lot of diplomatic considerations meaning she ought to hold her tongue for the time being. (Enjolras is not less tuned into that, exactly, but he's more inclined to make the decision to speak up anyway, and less likely to run into so many situations where it's relevant.)
Javert - not applicable. There is no one he cares deeply for but he will look displeased if you insult Valjean. Then again, if you insult the law he will go weird on you.
Valjean - if you insult Cosette, he will go very silent, and very tense. Complete shut down.
Bruce Wayne - as Bruce Wayne, he will either pretend to take it as a joke, and laugh it off. Or be cool and calm, and buy your business/house/whatever, and take it away from you until you learn to play nice. And then Batman will fuck you up.
Bruce Banner - um. Go Green? If the insult went beyond mere words, anyway. If he had to keep control - and he would anyway, tbh; it'd take a lot more than words to let him lose it - he'd sarcastically cut you down.
Courfeyrac - insult back heatedly, loudly and at length
Robin - FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. Insult one of his guys, and he'll generally assume that said guy can take care of it himself, but he'll certainly have his back. Insult his lady? He'll put you to the sword, and make you grovel out an apology on your damn knees.
Sariel: "*Excuse* me?" She'll get angry/offended and show it, though that's much more likely to manifest in a righteously furious telling off than a physical fight. She's not one to hold grudges to extremes, but she won't just blithely forget something either. See also she and Penn and a misunderstanding (which actually was one!)
Coldly, quietly, and Germanically dissecting the person's words.
If you've really managed to piss him off, which takes some doing, he does this while you are telekinetically suspended upside down with your head at his eye level.
