Character friendships you never expected to develop? (It's always interesting to me which characters end up getting along really well, even when their canons or their interests barely mesh at all.)

I loved Thalia Grace and William Evans, even if they didn't get much time together.
Ult. Ben Grimm and Ellen were an interesting pair too, though it was likely more on Ben's part. Big huge tough guy who could shrug off a 40 story fall looking up to a tiny woman who was all too squishy.

Raven and Ace, who somehow became self-adopted siblings - Raven, who's basically a god, and Ace, who travels with someone who ruins the day of people who call themselves gods, and who has no respect for things greater than her other than the person she travels with. Yeah, that should work, whut? But it does.

(And one of these days I have to get Shephard the chance to watch a troll John Cusack movie. Possibly their equivalent of Better Off Dead, which I am having some trouble titling in an appropriately elaborately Alternian manner.)

(Most surprising thing that is totally "not a friendship or anything even resembling that, shut up" is Jemma. Or perhaps Athelstan. He likes it when he gets to talk about his other life sometimes. Apparently. Jay and Emcee, although unclassified, make a little more sense. Not that they are his friends. Or anything one might describe with emotionally loaded terms. Don't be absurd).
Elrond and Clementine was a surprise. Kate Barlow too. And Tommy, even if they are perhaps not quite close enough to be called friends. And Jemma. And people in general.
In conclusion, I have been pleasantly surprised regarding Elrond's ability to form friendships.

Emcee can come too, if he can be persuaded to dress to fit in.

And Gredya! More the merrier! cackling

"This party could use a grumpy stressed-out werewolf with limited social skills," said pretty much no one ever.

You mean Gredya wouldn't enjoy a drugged-out Viking orgy? I never would have guessed.

If you substitute fangs for transformation and allows for the fact that fun will only be experienced by one of the party present.

And she will have a post up in the bar like, today or tomorrow (thursday US or friday).

Stiles and Grace XD Heather's the one responsible for thinking "Wouldn't it be fun if I threw my weirdo NSFW lady cop at your unsuspecting ADHD child?" And it worked.
Carol's friendships are thus far mostly of the completely predictable "You like being a badass? No way, I like being a badass!" sort.

Dean and Jane Austen, its been a while since they threaded but they got along in a wonderful way.
Thalia and William are one of my favorites and I still love how they met, he thought he was Percy Jackson due to IMDB flu, then apologized. And along the way they realized they understood each other. His friendship with Katya is strange and wonderful and how he and Autor get along, they bond over books. Its simple but neither of them are good at having simple interactions so its nice.
Charles and the Emcee, I didn't expect them to get along as well as they did and they were both very honest.
Will and Sariel, their friendship is I think one of the quickest and truest of the various Milliways' friendships I've rped.
Demeter and Malcolm, the way they simply get each other.
Moist and Natasha, it makes sense that they would click but how well they did surprised me. Moist and Claudia, I love their friendship, but it shouldn't have lasted as long as it has.
That's all I can think of for now.

Sariel and Yrael are a pretty unexpected friendship too, considering. She'd very much be the Charter sort, if she were from that particular world. The pair of them are marvelous together, though.
Sariel and either of the Leelas! XD If for very different reasons.
I neeeeed to get the frak back in the bar.

My biggest surprise has always been Raph and Alanna's friendship. They are cantankerous BFFs. Raph even wears tights now. It is awesome.

Dixie: I'd say William. He's like the little brother she never had, which isn't a situation she thought she'd be in again - reminds her of the convent.
Juliet: Nancy and Sunshine, both of whom are awesome, neither of whom are the sorts of people she'd be intimate friends with without Milliways.
Pinkie Pie: LESLIE and Tommy Gavin!
Eponine: Sadly have to plead the fifth, since she hasn't met many people.
