Jay laughs and shakes his head. "I wasn't expecting to meet another Gothamite here. I grew up in the Narrows. Use to work the strip just north of Sprang Bridge."

She relaxes at the laugh, but still keeps an eye on him incase it's an act.

"You do know we're in Gotham right?"

"Actually we're not. I'm about to say something that sounds crazy but hear me out, okay? This place is called Milliways. It's the bar at the end of the universe and acts as a kind of crossroads between places and times."

"The door on the right, or possibly the skylight in your case," Yes, Jay spotted her coming in, "leads back to the place you left at the second you left it. Time doesn't pass when you're in here. The people are friendly and mostly safe, the first drink is free and there's always somewhere warm and dry to sleep with no strings attached."

He shrugs. "I wish like hell I'd found this place when I was on the streets. Would have been a hell of a lot easier than ducking the cops and the gangs for somewhere safe to crash!"
isawit: (WOW!)

She cants her head to the side, in a very...let's call it a cat-like fashion as he speaks. Once he is done, her first instinct is to laugh but the Observation window catches her eye.

And holds it.

"Is that real?" Cause if it's not, that is the most high definition screen she has ever seen.

The gesture makes him frown, just a little too familiar.

"Yeah, it really is. As messed up as it sounds, it really is. I've been living here on and off for the better part of a year. I'm kinda the bar's unofficial mechanic. The name's Jay."

"Selina," she replies, too distracted to offer a false name as she would normally. "That is seriously weird."

She manages to tear her eyes away from the visions of the end of everything and blinks a few times. A bit shell shocked, she leaps down to the floor, landing in a crouch with barely a sound and then winces as she realizes she left his food up in the rafters.

"Sorry, would you mind grabbing the plate?" She could get it but she'd have to climb up on the booth and the management might not like that.

Oh fuck! Jay tries very hard to suppress any reaction to that by getting up to get the plate down, turning his back on her. Oh fuck! Baby Sel!

"Yeah," He manages to answer calmly. "This place is no end of weird." He hands her the plate, careful not to put himself between her and the door.

She smiles in thanks and reaches for one of the pasties.

"Man, I've seen lots of weird shit of course, I mean who hasn't who lives in Gotham, but a bar outside of...well whatever it's outside of. I'm not even sure what to call it. Space?"

"Like I said, the end of the universe. Reality itself being destroyed and created. I try not to look to long, gives me a screaming headache. The rest of the place is just as weird but slightly less fucked up."

He nods to the door. "Out there is the gardens, the lake and the mountain. Beautiful clean air and actual stars at night." No permanent smog layer.

"There are rooms upstairs where people live or just say for a bit. The Bar is alive and magic so all you got to do is ask and what you want appears. Although there are a few things she won't hand over no matter how nicely you ask. Downstairs is a garage containing every vehicle ever made. And my workshop."

{ooc: never be sorry for torturing him. It's far too much fun!}

"So how come that skylight lead here? I know I've used it before and it lead to a nightclub." She takes a bit of the pastie while she waits for his answer. This could be very useful, especially in winter.

"No idea. The door here just turns up at different times for different people. Hell, the first time I came here I was trying to outrun a sandstorm on a motorbike. I saw a hut or something and kinda crashed through the door, ending up here. Pretty much saved my life. Ever since, I just need to think really hard about wanting to be here and the next door I open leads me in."

Selina chews thoughtfully before replying.

"That seems silly and unlikely. I mean why not say 'Abracadabra'? But if it works, who am I to argue."

"Why were you on a motorbike trying to outrun a sandstorm? Didn't you know one was coming?" Cause obviously sandstorms can be predicted, or so this city girl thinks.

"Test the theory next time you're out." Jay shrugs. "No-one knows how it works so there's no reason Abracadabra won't do the job."

"The sandstorm, no but I knew the goons of a very pissed-off drug lord were. The gamble seemed like a good idea at the time."

"Sure. Couldn't hurt," she replies; giving him another assessing look. She wonders who he works for and if he's a drug runner. Part of her, the bit of her that hasn't been worn down by the streets and Gotham, wonders if he's working against the drug dealers. It would be a nice change. Drugs are just a slow death as far as she is concerned.

"Why were they pissed off?"

"I ah... kinda maimed their boss." He shrugs, a little sheepishly. "He was working the people in his mines to death and selling their children into slavery." He shrugs again. "I have kinda a thing about about people exploiting kids."
