Substitute Daily Entertainment: Tuesday Edition!

Apologies if this repeats anything recently done, but following on the wonderful color schemes question yesterday:

Congratulations! Your pup has now set off on the superhero (or supervillain) career path. What's their iconic look? Spandex? Sensible layers? High heels? Capes? Trenchcoats? If your pup is already happily or unhappily engaged in a super profession, how do they want to disguise themselves for their mild-mannered alter ego?

Ibani's armor is already good for that, I think. It's rather Supervillain, but she IS a Sith.

And she's decidedly puzzled by the idea of having a mild-mannered alter ego, but she could probably disguise herself just by wearing normal clothes.

Well, in civilian clothes, Artemis generally wears a t shirt, a jacket and jeans. Lots of browns and whites.
Her hero outfit is very green.
Voice changes do occur between them - it's not the full bat-gravel, but Artemis does change her voice between the mask and civies.
And she's trying not to be a supervillain now.

Because that would be easy.
Tigers.

Bossuet is pretty much already a mild-mannered alter-ego. He'd have fun putting together a superhero outfit, mostly borrowing Don Quixote imagery. He's already got a lance, never yet used on a dragon! But there would have to be a lot of eagle heraldry thrown in, just to check off the pun requirements.

Gredya thinks this is a stupid question but all in all pockets are nice to have when you wear clothes, sure.

"I take off my uniform and mask. That's it."

"What? It's not like I need to do more. We're not all paranoid weirdos with a bat fixation."

(EDIT: BAT fixation. Rassa-frassin autocorrect.)

Gordon's already done this. Back when we had the Marvel 1602 Sir Nicholas Fury in the Bar, Gordon worked with him and that universe's Steve Rogers in their attempts to dislodge the Purple Man's dystopian, anti-supers regime. He wore the HEV suit and a full-face helmet custom altered by the Hephaestus we had in the Bar at the time. Depending on which side of the existing regime you were on he counted as a non-powered would-be supervillain or superhero, but either way they dubbed him Anticitizen One. It caused much facepalming since he already had that particular title from the Combine puppet regime on Earth.

Ellen would just stick with her Chinese stealth suit. She prefers power armor for safety's sake, but the stealth suit has enough of an armor rating to stand up to most hand-to-hand and ordinary bullet situations, and the virtual invisibility factor goes a long way. And since she had Tyler Marlocke/Moon Shadow along with her when she confronted the Mechanist and the AntAgonizer, she even comes with the superhero name of 'Night Ghost', assuming people don't just call her '101' instead.

Jaeger pilots are superheroes. There's two of them instead of one, and they didn't invent the suits themselves, but if Iron Man's a superhero then so is Stacker. He's just on hiatus.

I'm reasonably sure most of the colonists and naval types in the Caribbean in 1715-1717 consider successful pirates to be budding supervillains. Edward's iconic look is on the cover of Assassin's Creed IV, and he does not believe in this mild-mannered alter ego shit.

Varric is not interested in superheroing himself, because he's Hawke's publicist.

Medic is basically part of a supervillain-vs-supervillain team. His iconic look is a lab coat, blue gloves, and OH GOD SO MUCH BLOOD.

Shephard... yeah, no, I'm sorry, I'm trying, but he's not superhero/supervillain material. He's sticking with the military job and military look, kthx. Unless the Oans show up and drop off a power battery and a big fat box of rings for everybody involved, he is sticking with his own Corps, thank you very much- and he's got a ship to command, on top of that. He's got QUITE ENOUGH responsibility. And anyway he already told Jessica Drew back at Halloween that he's not the superhero costume type: "Do I look like a man who belongs in that kind of outfit? I got nothin' at all against superheroes, but if the good Lord had wanted me wearin' Captain America's getup He'd'a made the arrangements Himself."

As for the last one, he's EL FREAKING SANTO. Allow me to quote from the Cracked.com article linked on his profile page: "He's... a real-life superstar luchador and cinematic crime-fighter, a sentence that kicks the shit out of every other CV up to and including "I am the Lord your God."... El Santo is a masked hero beating up crime in all its forms. His movies are one part lunacy with two parts Batman, and Bruce Wayne is only one part Batman. Because his secret identity doesn't also wear a mask and kick ass for a living."

He doesn't have a mild mannered alter ego; the real-life Santo never appeared in public without the mask and the persona, not until a week before he died of a heart attack in the ring, and they BURIED him in the mask. And the wiki page for El Santo doesn't show a photograph of Rodolfo Guzman (although such photos do exist). It shows his mask. That is his civilian identity.

Sunshine goes from mild-mannered community baker in bright colors to vampire liaison/slayer if needs be, clad in sensible dark greys. The idea is not to have an iconic look at all.

She still refuses to wear black.

[personal profile] bjornwilde 2014-09-30 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
For Hank, it'll be less about the clothes and more about the fur (see icon). He does start the yellow and black look for the X-men though.

Jess has given up on the whole alter-ego thing. She was outed by a shape shifting alien (who kidnapped her and took over her identity) when the alien and her kind tried to invade Earth. She just dresses in whatever's comfortable but will allow for freedom of movement.

Quinlan would likely adopt some sort of helmet since his racial/clan tattoos are so conspicuous. He'd also go for colors that will blend in best. He doesn't want to stand out.

Ethan might be persuaded to don a domino mask and brightly colored leathers, ending up a sort of garish Lone Ranger.

Anthony Mackie not so secretly hopes Falcon will end up in a red and white suit much more in line with the comics. I agree with him.

Lady Trent and Brimstone are seriously rejecting this idea.
death_gone_mad: A golden funerary type mask with lapis lazuli insets, depicting the goddes Amascut (Golden Funerary Mask)

When Jagex retconned/reworked Prince Ali Rescue and turned Lady Keli into another of Amascut's not so mild mannered alter egos, they gave her a costume that was very superheroic/villainous. As mentioned in the previous DE, very strong in the gold and royal purple theme. She is also wearing a gold tiara that she will most likely deny resembles kitty ears. She will deny it very loudly and very violently. In the game, the yashmak and chādor are part of the costume when Amascut/Lady Keli is playing at being the civilian...-ish. Even though they don't hide any of her jewelery well. Or at all. I guess it is a Clark Kent and his glasses thing.

The Gold Amascut mask in the icon is for... um... I am going to eat your souls, now is a good time to run away type funtimes?

What is an Amascut? A miserable little pile of alter egos!

Fairy Fixit already has a full time job, thank you. Also, opinions about superpowers. Where the line between powers and superpowers is, no one knows!

WELL, Rikki already has a look that's based on a temporary costumed identity of Steve Rogers. She doesn't really have a mild-mannered alter-ego, though - pretty much the same person in and out of costume. I think, in the future, rather than adopting a proper secret identity, she probably would have joined SHIELD as an agent.

Clem's would be hippie chic, with a boob window. And since the Reno PD tend to get involved with wacky shenanigans all the time, it'd probably be easy for her to hide her identity as another cover.

Dixie: Calamity Jane, based - with more lace. And She and Brisco would be part of a three-man team, so they'd provide their own cover.

Juliet: The Amazing Justice Girl! Bright pink suit. She kills via dance.

Pinkie: Already seen in The Power Pownies ep of canon.

Eponine: Defender of the poor and downtrodden. Super-rags, I suppose?
