Sam Wilson over all just wants to help people. MOre specifically, he wants to help Steve find Bucky, help Bucky find himself, and kick RUmlow's ass (once he finds out RUmlow made it out alive).
Selina Kyle wants to find her mom and stay alive and free until then.
Quinlan Vos wants to keep his family safe and give his kids every opportunity to grow that he can. He also wants to plant the seeds that will lead to a rebellion against the Empire. He's doing this by educating and training anyone who is interested, feeding those who the Empire is starving, and free those who are being locked up in labor camps.
Tybalt wants his people safe and for them to thrive.
Jessica Drew's life goal has been to destroy HYDRA but I think after meeting Anya and Silk, she's shifting to teaching the next generation to fight the good fight.
I'm inclined to think it just wouldn't turn on. I've always been somewhat vague as to how much of the Force is utilized to activate a saber that already has an attuned crystal. I know the Force is used to attune the crystal but I'm always fuzzy on if the Force is used to contain the blade or not.
Plus it would need to be decided if the Force was "magic" as far as that world saw it, which I would leave up to the mun.
*nod* Things get complicated when you mix the metaphysics of multiple universes! I was just wondering if it would explode or something if it was already on. *G*
I'd be inclined to say it just shuts off. For example, power transformers and electronic devices don't explode when a magic wave hits. Plus I don't like destroying other people's toys. = ]
And yes, you should read it. It is very fun. I personally don't think it really gets going until the second book but that could be because Andrea isn't in the first. = ]
Ah, I was thinking of the way magic affects technology in the Dresden Files book series. The protagonist, a wizard, says something like 'I can kill a copier at 40 paces.' And that's just by existing. :-)
This makes me feel like some kind of motivation coach. Okay, which one of you has goals? Like, done with one lifetime sort of goals? No one besides Lohengrin? Anyone with happy goals? Really? Okay.
Lohengrin's goals are to take the Raven down with him when he dies and to keep the Prince and Princess Tutu safe. He already kind of knows he's going to fail.
Lucas's goal is to use the Dark Dragon's power to remake the world. And to keep recovering from everything canon put him through, but that's always kind of been the case.
Mia's pretty accomplished and content, and Mirai's desires to cease existing are in conflict with having a goal, so neither of them really have any big goals on the horizon. Well, yet for Mirai.
Rikki's... hmm. She wants to get better at being Nomad, she wants to help people, and she wants to take down the Secret Empire. So no big there.
Alex Rider... mostly just wants to make it to adulthood alive. Which, he's been living in Milliways and refusing to go back to his world, so as long as he keeps that up, he has a good chance of it. Yay! \o/
Allie Pennington wants to bring about a new golden age of peace and knowledge in the world. SO YEAH NO BIG DEAL THERE EITHER. Of course, she has a prophecy on her side that says she can do it.
Philippa Cobb wants to expand the field of dream-sharing as a tool for helping people with mental illnesses/other psychological problems.
Freya McAllister mostly just wants to get used to being telepathic and not insane. Which she's doing a pretty great job at, so go her! \o/
Amascut wants to break the cycle of destruction and rebirth and to give the story a good ending. For some value of good.
Fairy Fixit is probably having her priorities rearranged in a major way by the most recent canon reveal since she was in a good position to notice or deduct most of what happened and its consequences.
Before, her goal was to improve the teleportation networks in a major way and maybe help the guthixian/anti-god movement in secret the best she could. Now, who knows? I'll probably have to wait until Zanaris casts Gielinor into magical shadow to find out for sure, but the eclipse is one of the major canon updates on the distant horizon and a bunch of other things are supposed to happen first. Might be a couple of years before I find out, since the fairy related storylines are all resolved and WHO CARES ABOUT THE FAIRIES THE ELDER GODS ARE GOING TO EAT THE WORLD.
Henry originally wanted to break the curse on Storybrooke! That happened. I need to catch up on this season, though, I've been lazy.
Eriond, uh... wants to bring about world peace and love? Seriously, that's about it. He might even be able to do it.
Lois wants to be the best investigative reporter ever and win as many Pulitzers as she can, and while she's at it use that writing and searching to actually try to bring truth to light and, where possible, see that those committing corrupt or harmful acts face justice. (Yes, deliberate phrasing.)
Tavi wants to get Alera through the very bad year or three after the war, rebuild Alera, see to it that its worst traditions (slavery, disenfranchisement of anyone not of middle or upper classes, crap education system, constant warfare with neighbors, fail at technological development, etc.) are punted and replaced by things that actually work, strengthen the alliance with the Marat and Canim and bring the Icemen into it, lay the foundations for preparing Alera for the second Vord War (a century or two in their future, well beyond his lifetime), probably start exploring more of their world, and to raise his family well and happily--and prepared to serve the Realm as they have for a thousand years.
So, you know, just easy, inconsequential things with no effect on anyone else.
Autor yearns to be a Spinner, and manipulate reality by writing things down. This is an all-consuming goal, one which has chewed him up and spit him out several times over already.
Tahno just wants to keep probending and sleep with as many people as he can. He's a simple man.
Alana at this point wants to survive her next encounter with Hannibal Lecter.
Well, Lesgle is just dying to see the establishment of a republic with universal suffrage in France. (Universal male suffrage, anyway. Post-mortem reading is getting him caught up on the whole gender-equality thing.) But yeah. Given the previous fifty years' history in France, a republic seemed pretty attainable, with enough work.
Gredya's canon really puts her through a bunch of miserable crap. Picking her up post-canon, she's had two litters of pups and they've all died, so she--she really, really, wants to see this bunch of kids grow up. Her long-term goals are flexible--Milliways has thrown her more options than she knows what she's doing with--but boy seeing at least one child grow up would be nice.
But, uh, yeah. That whole Republic thing, it seemed so attainable!
Joly also really wanted to figure out a little more about what was killing everyone all the time, and maybe how to stop it, and have a reasonably comfy home with his favorite people and their cats. At least he can sort of post-mortem go for a partial complete on that one?
(Bahorel has no plans, and is not up to anything at all. Naturally.)
True that, a happy and long life mooching off Joly (& hopefully Musichetta) and making himself more or less useful around the place also sounds nice. In a republic.
Sam: Goal 1: survive the war. Goal 2: do... something with her life. She's not really academic, so going to college really isn't a thing, but... she'd really like to be something other than the vicar's daughter.
William: Make Captain (aka be Captain Aubrey, if at all possible. When not being Dr. Maturin.)
Katya: Wants to go back to Moscow. Except every year that goes by, it the idea of leaving her partnership with Skellig gets that much harder.
Jemma: Wants to be a... scientist field agent thing. Basically she wants all the jobs except the one that involves shooting people, she's pretty sure she'd be horrible at shooting people, and, like, kicking people in the head.
Annnnd the rest at some other point short short lunch today.
Gavroche: Make the Underside a better and more unified place. Because somebody is a bad influence, Gaius Octavian, he may eventually get frustrated enough with the effort that he appoints himself and his brother The Ones In Charge Around Here until they're not needed any more.
Athelstan: ...stay alive? Staying alive would be nice.
Giovanni: Save Francesca and make himself awesome.
Gene - doesn't really have an overarching goal in mind. Bang up one or two individuals he's been after for years, perhaps.
Javert - these days? Not go to Hell, though he's losing the will to fight that battle. And if he's honest, understanding Valjean sounds like a good goal just now.
Valjean - see Cosette happy once and for all. (Augh, don't make me start.)
Bruce Wayne - a non-corrupt Gotham.
Bruce Banner - a non-existent Hulk.
Courfeyrac - ...yeah, no. See other Amis' answers above.
Robin - a feeling of contentment. Roots, maybe.
Pearly - is incapable of thinking in such long terms most of the time. He's a 'do what feels right in the moment/mood' kinda guy. But when he can think this way - maintain the balance, I guess. It's too much to hope for that he'll be able to swing things far enough to the dark side to break the equilibrium, but if he can manage to stop Peter Lake fulfilling his destiny then he'll have done OK.
Gordon- get society civil enough to get out of politics and back into science. Also, raise his kids better than his father did.
Shephard- get the Corps properly re-established so that his people (right now this is anybody in the Greenbrier colony, anybody in Rowlesburg, and whether he admits it or not, anyone from the Satere-Mawe village they trade with) can live in peace and safety.
Ellen- Does not have a specific concrete goal for her life at the moment, but seeing the Capital Wasteland grow into a healthy and decent place to live for people other than a tiny handful would be nice.
Medic- Wants to bitchslap Death, metaphorically; I'm not sure what form he'd like that to take exactly, given that he works in a setting where respawners are a thing. But still.
Varric- I'm trying and the headvoice is just answering "Fortune and glory, kid". Maybe once I finish Dragon Age: Inquisition it'll be different.
Edward Kenway- his goal is to be rich enough to make himself a man of station and social standing and RUB ALL THE POSH GITS' FACES IN IT.
Santo- Enh, being the greatest wrestler of all time is probably a pretty good goal.
Stacker Pentecost- To seal the Breach once and for all.
